I'm from New York and came down to Macon to visit family. When I planned this trip, I spoke with someone on the phone and got on the bus on 7/29/25 -- not once did anyone mention that my child needed a car seat. We rode down without a single issue. But when it was time to head back home, all of a sudden we weren't allowed to board because they claimed I needed a car seat for my child -- who's over 60 pounds, by the way. Whether it's about weight or height doesn't even matter -- the point is, we got driven from the airport to Macon with no problem, and now we're being told something totally different last minute. The staff clearly had no idea what they were doing, and because of that, we missed our flight. To make things worse, the only option we had was to have my 82-year-old grandmother drive us an hour back to the airport -- when the bus pickup was literally five minutes from her house. Completely ridiculous and unprofessional. Never using this service again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Get it together. read more

I was booked on transport to Atlanta airport on 6/19. I was booked on 9 am transport due to no room on 10 o'clock for my motorized chair. I had trouble with my chair and arrived before 9 but just before. the driver had a horrible attitude. I understand that there's a schedule. I understand that they run every hour on the hour but there is absolutely no need for nasty attitudes. I was there before 9. Luckily there was one seat left on 10 am shuttle. On January 19, 2025, I found the outdoor pickup area for Groome at the Atlanta Airport. I got there around 10:20 a.m. for a 10:45 a.m. pickup to Macon. I had a reservation. A van in berth 4 said Warner Robins / Macon. The driver told me that he was going to Warner Robbins and not Macon, but the Macon shuttle would be there in that berth and that shuttles usually got there five minutes before departure. I went back into the airport. I was in line to order at Starbucks when I decided that I didn't have enough time to get back to the pickup area. I left Starbucks and got back to berth 4 at 10:39 a.m. for the 10:45 pickup. A shuttle did not come at 10:40 or 10:45. A short time later, I saw a shuttle with "Macon" go past. I jogged after it, pulling my luggage behind me. The shuttle stopped at a crosswalk. I waved to the driver. It did not seem as if anyone was in the shuttle. The driver did not roll down the window, but made a circle motion with his hand. I took that to mean that he had to circle and would come back. I had a bright yellow jacket on - and that's important. By 11:00 a.m., no Macon shuttle had come. *If* it came, the driver drove past the guy in the bright yellow jacket standing there - me - who had tried to wave him down earlier. *If* the shuttle came, the driver should have known from his list that he had a person with a reservation who was not on the shuttle. I called Groome. The person on the phone said the driver had stopped and that I didn't get on. I told the whole story and said that the driver did not stop and I did not appreciate being told that I didn't get on. When the person on the phone said a second time that I didn't get on, I corrected her a second time. She apologized. I asked who I could talk to about a refund. She said that I could talk to people at the Groome office when I got to Macon. While waiting for the 11:45 shuttle, I confirmed with one or two more Groome shuttle drivers that I was *and had been* waiting in the right place. When I got to Macon, three different people behind the counter in the Groome office said three different things. One said that I had to walk up and down the pickup area looking for the shuttle. One said that driver was going to circle around and implied that I had missed the shuttle. They seemed to be making it up as they went along. They seemed to be blaming me. They said I had to call the Groome main number the next day and ask for supervisors; they couldn't authorize a refund. On January 23, 2025, I called the Groome number. I was on hold for an hour and then hung up. On January 24, 2025, I called back and left a message for the two people whose names I had gotten in Groome's Macon office. The person took careful notes. I never heard back. I don't appreciate: (1) Making a reservation for a shuttle, making eye contact with the shuttle driver who saw me and signaled to me, and not being picked up then or later. (2) Being blamed for not getting on the shuttle when I was waiting where two or three Groome drivers told me to wait. (3) Being passed from one Groome employee to another to discuss a refund and then getting blown off. I was in Macon to see relatives whom I hadn't seen since before the pandemic; one is in a rehab facility. Because of my work, I was scheduled to be in Macon for only 26 hours. Groome cut that down to 25. I woke up that day at 3:15 a.m. I got to my local airport at 5:00 a.m. for a 7:00 a.m. flight to get me to the Atlanta airport at 10:00 a.m. I made a reservation with Groome to get me to Macon at noon. VERY BAD AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE!!! Here is the background: I booked two tickets for a trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga on 05/24/2023. On the day, the bus was scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM. My group arrived at the designated spot at 6:50 AM, well ahead of the departure time. However, to our surprise, the bus did not show up until 7:40 AM. During this extended waiting period, I had to urgently use the airport restroom. Unfortunately, while I was inside, the bus arrived and, according to my friend who was still waiting at the spot, the driver refused to wait for us and departed, even though I was merely 3 feet away from the bus, and shouting loudly behind that "I am here!". Later, I called the office to express my frustration and seek a resolution. However, the customer service representative refused to offer any form of refund for the inconvenience caused, saying that the management decided that the bus driver arrived on time and is of no obligation to my loss. I have outlined all the problems in this chaotic process below. These can all be checked by the airport surveillance videos, recorded customer service conversations, and the payment records: 1. The bus did not arrive on time, which clearly violates the rules set forth by the company. It is unjustifiable for anyone to retain customers' payment for a service that was not provided as agreed upon. 2. When I contacted the customer service, I was shocked to hear that the bus supposedly arrived on time and thus bore no responsibility for my loss. Again, how could you outright lie when the surveillance footage can clearly prove the bus was late? Additionally, there are airport staff who were witnesses to the entire incident. 3. There payment system is highly questionable. They request tips during the reservation process. Although I had reservations about making an upfront payment without experiencing the quality of their service, I still decided to tip 20% of the bus fare due to my understanding of the demanding nature of the profession from my previous work experiences with many long-haul drivers internationally. However, the quality of service I received fell far below the minimum expectations. At the very least, they should refund me for the tipping portion of my payment. I have to post my experiences here! 1. Service from Macon to Atlanta 7/26/25 was fine. My complaint involves the return to Macon on 8/01/25. Cross-country flight delivered me to Atlanta at 5:00AM, after travelling 14 hours. Picked up baggage and walked to the "Ground Transportation" area, and found the sign for "Local Shuttle" with the Groome logo at stall B2. I would note, there's no instruction on-line or in the Groome office in Macon about where to stand to get picked up at Atlanta airport, you have to follow the posted signs. Turns out, I should have been at the opposite end of the loading platform, slot B9-B10, for the "Regional Shuttle". At about 5:45AM, I'm looking around for a Groome van, and see one at the far end of the platform, B10. I start walking in that direction, the driver sees me, gets into the van and starts pulling away (towards me). I wave and step into the traffic lane to get his attention. The driver swerves, and accelerates, (actually peels rubber his moving so fast), as we make eye contact. He seemed quite adamant that he was not going to stop, even though the van appeared to be empty. He's leaving on time, I was late, and that's all there was to it. Needless to say, my wrath was kindled. I sat on the curb for an hour and caught the next van when it arrived. When I got to Macon just before 8AM, I glimpsed a young man who bore a striking resemblance to the driver who had burned rubber leaving me on the side of the road in Atlanta. I didn't confront him, although I sure felt like it. I overhead him talking to a passenger getting on the van to leave at 8AM, and he was saying how he "always left on time, he's never late, if you're late, you're late, etc. etc." I think he noticed me standing nearby (I'm the one dressed in a sport coat and panama hat with the houndstooth patterned wheeled luggage) and he had a furtive and sheepish look on his face while I glared at him as he pulled off. SO, what to learn from this: 1. Groome office and/or their website should consider providing more clear instructions about where to find Groome pickup at the Atlanta airport, the largest and busiest airport in North America; 2. Groome staff should consider placing themselves in the shoes of a customer (who's already paid for their service, mind you) and how to be helpful at 5:45 in the morning, not the most busy and crowded time of day; 3. Considering that the van was empty or almost completely empty, the driver might consider that a paying customer just might have been standing in the wrong spot, parking stall B2, labelled "Groome Local Shuttle", because that customer might not understand the difference between a "Local Shuttle" and a "Regional Shuttle". For $58 one way, I can drive and park my car and know I'm not risking being left on the side of the road by an immature, vindictive, officious kid who seemed to take pleasure in "I'm following the rules". I get it, his vehicle is GPS tracked, so supervisors know if he's arrived and departed on time, and how fast he's driving on I-75, but still, it would have only 1-2 minutes to load one more passenger in an empty van (at a designated and labelled parking stall at the ground transportation loading platform). read more

However returns from the ATL airport have been inconsistent, operators won't answer calls and Groome refused to return funds when they fail to meet the agreed schedule. In my experience have alternate plans if on a restricted timeline. read more

from the reviews i was terrified that i was going to either miss my flight or get left at the airport, but thankfully none of that happened. i got picked up at the foryst stop. i was the only person at my stop. the driver was like 20-30 min late. that did kinda worry me a little but that's why i made my pick up time 3 hours before my flight. we got to the airport at in good time. i had 11/2 hours of free time. coming back my flight landed around 10 pm. i had no difficulty finding the shuttle stop. the driver was like an hour late. i understand the whole fighting for a seat comment reviews i'm reading. there were a group of old people, my mother taught me to respect older people. when the 1st shuttle pulled up, they did not give a damn and pushed my the F out the way. so the diver gave all the passengers that didn't get on in his van, ticket numbers and told us that would be a grantee spot on the next shuttle. got home at around 12. over all it wasn't bad and i'll use them again. i'll just be ready to push people out my way. lol i will say that there was this women and she had FIVE daughter with her. i guess she didnt read any comment reviews because by the time the 1st bus was filled, she slowly walked over was like "what about me and my kids?" 3 of them were under 6 so the driver was like we'll probably have to get you guys your own van because you're going to need car seats. i guess she thought she had priority over all of us to not think she had to aggressive, and this was like at 11:30 pm so i know was she was pissed read more

I'm a great believer in public transportation. I'm not a rabid environmentalist, but some things just make practical sense. Riding the Groome saves on gas. Saves the wear and tear on your car. You can get more sleep!!! I should end on the sleep thing alone, since it's that darn important. You can read, do homework (Going to school too?!? Damn. More power to you!) and you don't have to deal with bad weather and stupid drivers. Groome is a commuter's dream and great for out-of-towners like myself who don't want to put the family out picking you up from Atlanta. We arrived around 3:50 for a departure. An employee was at the desk with doors locked and another pulling the van up. I asked if my family could sit inside while they waited the 30/40mins for their 4:30 departure time. Lady said no "it's not that cold, they'll be fine". (34 degrees with windchill). She said the driver may let my family wait in the van. I turned to the driver who walked right past me, went inside, and the lady locked the doors. Why have a lobby if people cannot wait in it? Christmas Day and one of our coldest days and that was her response. Shame on you Groome for making customers wait in the cold. You can quickly exceed that cost in gas & airport parking alone. The drivers drive safely and they do their best to keep the van at a comfortable temperature for all. They also stick to the schedule - they leave exactly at the time they say... and no they ain't waiting for you if you're running late. They'll try to accommodate you on the next available departure. Customer service is top-notch. Most times, the fellow passengers are respectful of the shared space and try to not talk loudly, etc. Overall, I have no complaints about the Groome and I highly recommend them. read more

The only fortunate part of this service is that I only have to use it two times a year to visit my family in the area. Groome is a necessary evil, I guess. It's not enjoyable, the other passengers are questionable, and there doesn't seem to be a plan for when the previous shuttle is running late. It's super frustrating when your shuttle is supposed to leave at a specific time and 30 minutes goes by and you not only aren't told the reason, but you see other vans sitting there unused and other drivers hanging around. Like is there a contingency plan when this happens or can only one van be used at a time and passengers are just gonna be late af for their flights? Definitely plan to schedule your shuttle an hour before you actually need to get to the airport just in case. They drop you off at a very convient spot getting into the airport, at both the north and the south terminal. They also offer seating before your trip in the building, which is very nice and modern. If I could figure out how to give NO STARS, I would. This transportation service is absolutely awful. I called days in advanced and booked seats on the 4:30pm Macon shuttle because that was all that was available, according to the rep on Friday. I would have preferred the 4:00pm shuttle, which I was told was booked. That 4pm shuttle left the airport with 4 (count them) empty seats. Then, Groome overbooked the 4:30pm and left us standing there, curbside, for the 5:00pm shuttle. We had to be in Macon by 6pm, which I made clear to the representative who helped with the booking. The rep on site said the seats on the 4:30pm were reserved for us. Nope. When I called to ask for my money back, I was told no. I was told I could wait for the 5pm shuttle (which would have made me super later for my 6pm engagement), then make a complaint to the office. Groome would not refund my money for services they did NOT even render. Wow. Dishonest, unreliable, and unapologetic about it. We called UBER, got picked up in minutes, and were on our way long before the 5pm shuttle ever would have arrived. Our driver is phenomenal. The vehicle is more comfortable. The ride is CHEAPER. I would never book Groome again, and intend to ask my conference organizers to to stop recommending their services. They suck. Avoid the cost and worry and hassle. Take an UBER!! read more

The level of service between ticketing and the drivers is impeccable. I have taken Groome three different times now, and was super satisfied with the services. The passengers can be mouthy sometimes. But that's neither here nor there. Thanks to groome I've been early to my flights every time. The drivers definitely earn their potential tips. Had a good nap? Tip your driver. I rode Groome for the first time this past Saturday (5/16/15). I currently live in Atlanta, but I was in Macon to attend a concert. I'd caught Greyhound to Macon, but by the time the concert was over it was too late to catch it back to Atlanta unless I waited until after 6am the next day. The original plan was to stay at this cheap motel close to the Greyhound station (cough) Macon Scottish Inn (cough) but that place was a steaming dump and a yelp for another day. I'd purchased the hotel room but after the show I didn't want to stay there overnight or spend more money on a better hotel somewhere else in the city. So what was I going to do? I had heard about Groome Transportation from others who've used it but I didn't know where it was in Macon and I thought it was just for people catching a plane in Atlanta. But at this point, I was desperate and decided why not? I called Groome and a friendly female voice answered and told me their next shuttle leaves at 3am and it only costs $38 for the trip. Good enough for me! I cheerfully called a taxi, checked out of the roach motel I was in and after a $12 cab fare I was at Groome Transportation. At first glance, you'd think you're out in the middle of nowhere but it is conveniently located close to the highway and a nice, upscale hotel (wish I'd known about that hotel sooner!). After purchasing my ticket, I waited in the comfortable lobby until the shuttle arrived. The shuttle is a cozy van that was big enough for me and the other four passengers riding with me. The driver was courteous and asked which airline each of us wanted to be dropped off at. I dozed off in the van and about an hour later I was in the ATL. I got off at the Delta stop, ate some breakfast at the airport, waited and then caught the MARTA transit train home. Groome was a lifesaver! I want to be clear that I'm not belittling the city of Macon, GA. I actually like it there and enjoyed the concert but I just did a poor job of picking a motel room. Next time I will just use Groome to get there and get back. Maybe I'll even stay at the hotel next to the Groome location if I want to chill for awhile in Macon. Groome has earned four stars from me! I believe it makes about 27 trips from Macon to Atlanta daily and it's more convenient than Greyhound. read more

Groome's provided me with fantastic service- friendly, on time...and the luxury of not having to drive to the airport at 0300? i slept like a baby on my ride up, safe in my warm passenger van cocoon! loved it! I can 't decide if the price is good...likely depends on how long you'd have to leave your car at the airport, but using their service felt lovely. I'm going to check out greyhound next time, just because I'm a student....but I think groome's is wonderful. I left my car in their lot btw-- and felt totally fine about it. I have used Groome Transportation quite a few times while making the trip from Macon to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. While the cars are in an open parking lot, the worst storms in the area involve heavy rain, so it's not something that should really be of any concern. Since there are no reservations, you simply need to show up a little early to make sure you get a spot. I have arrived a couple of times only ten minutes early and had no trouble getting a seat. Of all the times I have used the service, I have never been unable to find a seat. They also have many vans to use, should one van be full. Generally when I have used the service, I was dropped off or picked up at the Macon location, so I can't vouch for leaving my car there. That said, I don't really have any complaints about the service. Just remember that there are often traffic delays going into and out of Atlanta, so make sure you pick a shuttle time that leaves room for unintended delays that are out of their control. read more

Groome - Macon, GA took my family (wife and 2 kids (7 and 7) to Atlanta Airport. When they went to board the return transit, the driver told my wife the kids could not ride without a booster. If that is the policy, that is fine. However, a company should not be able to take customers 75 miles from their car then tell them to fund another way back. We had to pay $300+ for an uber to take them. I have called the company 5 times and gotten the run around or no answer. read more

My reservation couldn't be found, my stop was passed, and after telling the driver he missed my stop he continued on saying I had to ride it until the end. I then had to go back 30 minutes and my ride had to wait on me. Own your mistakes and fix them don't just tell the customer to deal with it and continue on. Coming from a person in hospitality that gives the benefit of the doubt, drivers should have instruction on what to do in these instances. read more

Please bring back flying out of Macon airport! Support the amazing Macon airport where you clear TSA pre Atlanta!
