Second time I've taken my elder, grumpy Schipperke in for a bath/brushing. She'd never ever been to a groomer but has a very problematic undercoat and does not like brushing at all. I took her in for her first grooming a few months ago and she came out looking like a show dog! The real test was whether she would be unhappy when we went back for a second time and she was not. And, again everything went smoothly. Got appointment reminders, drop off was smooth and she was ready in 3 hours. She looks great! I appreciate the groomers efforts and how nice they are. We have been taking our dog for the past three years every two months to Groomingdales and every single time that we come in it's always a different price even though we ask for the same exact package. The dog gets exactly the same haircut. Nothing changes. It is always a different price. Today we were charged an extra $30 because we did not pick him up within one hour of them notifying that the dog was ready. We were not made aware that there was a $30 late fee that would be charged. The receptionist said it's always been their policy but they've never enforced it and said it would've been in the paperwork that we signed three years ago, the very first time that we brought the dog in. I said I have always picked him up anywhere between 1 to 2 hours of him being ready and she said moving forward, they're always would be a $30 charge if we were to be an hour late to get him. So this business has lost our business. We are going to go to the brand new doggy spa that's over on Vista. It's called Well Groomed by the Safeway. We have heard nothing but great things from them. If this place wants to treat existing customers that come in routinely every other month. Then it's the last time that we will ever be there. It really would have been nice to have been reminded of this policy they just chose to enforce now. read more

Can you give negitive stars? I am heart-broken for my sister and her beautiful Australian Sheppard! Sweet little girl was completely shaved, without permission and for no apparent reason, by the irresponsible and unprofessional groomers. The owner was then abusive in her defensiveness, adding insult to obvious injury. Our sweet pup is now traumatized and bald going into fall and winter, and further endangered by skin exposure in the Nevada sun. These are terrible, terrible groomers that clearly have no understanding of the safety and wellness of dogs. read more

Couldn't be more happier with this groomer!!!! What drew me to this dog spa was that they are kennel free. My pup doesn't do well in kennels and it makes him very stressed out. Grooms are normally pretty stressful for him, but the groomer said he did great! I could tell he was not stressed coming home. I can't even describe how good of a cut my dog got!!!!! I didn't even know my dog could be cut THAT cute. Truly went above my expectations. I will never take my dog anywhere else. I could tell that the groomer did not rush his cut and actually took time to make him look good. And to make it even better, prices are reasonable. This is the 2nd time we brought our dogs, the first time they cut my dog's hair on the ears funny!!! It's so oughful looking. Today, this girl won't listen to what we want for our dog, and kept saying, we follow our policy that you signed for" on top of that, they did not notify me ahead of time that they charge a "dematting" fee when our other dog is not even matted!!! They don't care and listen to the owners of the dog, they want their way about your dog and because they follow their policy!!! We will never come back to this place!!!! They don't want the owners satisfied with the cut, it's their way or no other way to cut your dogs hair!!! I regret even giving them a tip when they charged me $182 for 2 dogs!!!! We have a 14 year old Golden Retriever. We asked that they take care of her because of her age. We asked not to have our dog shaved, guess what, shaved and terrified of the groomer. They told us not to bring her back because it is traumatic. We have never experienced this before. I believe the groomer or groomers are not trained to handle older animals. We will not recommend this groomer to anyone. Please find a place that values your animal and wants the best for them. Groomingdales only cares about the money. read more

I've brought my goldendoodle puppy here twice. The first time she looked fine, and they didn't complain about my dogs "difficult behavior." For her second appointment I told them I wanted the same as last time. When I went to pick her up the girl at the front desk instantly told me how difficult my dog was and next time it would be a $20 added charge for difficult dogs but they wouldn't charge me today. When they bring her out to me she is clearly way shorter than last time and when I asked if they did the size 3 clippers she said yes which was clearly a lie as I have pictures from her first grooming. Her ears look like a kindergartner cut them. When I go to pay they charged me $10 more than last time. Once I left and the shock wore off I called them and asked why I was charged more this time and they said it was since she was such a difficult dog they charged me half of the fee even though when I was there they told me I wouldn't be charged for it. When I asked why her ears were so terrible she continued to say it was because my puppy was so difficult and she had some matted hair. They continued to lie and blamed their awful hack job on her being difficult. I'm not one to write reviews but I've heard multiple bad stories about this place and I should have listened to them, do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

We have been going here for years!!! This past visit they stayed upon pickup that they wouldn't allow our dog back because he pooped while being groomed. What a joke! We have followed them since before they opened their new location. Now they treat their loyal customers like garbage because they've grown and apparently don't need the business. Dogs poop get over it, part of the job, tell your employees to look before they walk and they wouldn't step in poop. Our dogs pooped out of nervousness, apparently they were scared and didn't Like your poor services anyhow. Watch out for this place!! read more

I would give zero starts if I could...According to the receipt Yaquelin is to whom I am referring... I took my male shih Tzu to Groomingdales to be groomed and told them to cut his hair short but DO NOT cut his tail. (He sports an absolutely beautiful tail of hair that reaches all the way to his nose) When I came to pick him up the first thing that I noticed was his beautiful tail was all wacked short. I asked why did you cut his tail when I told you not to touch it? The lady told me it had terrible knots in it and that is why it was cut. I explained that it couldn't have had terrible knots as I brushed it out the day before grooming and it was knot free. She still insisted it was completely full of knots. (Instead of owing up to her mistake I was treated like I was just a stupid liar) So then I stated to her "when I ask you not to cut my dogs tail I mean DO NOT cut his tail". (I mean really...Aren't I the customer???...Isn't it "my" dog???) I have to admit as mad as I was I remained pretty darn calm. She then waited only until after I paid the $50 for the haircut and left an additional $15 tip to state that is was their store policy to cut the tail when the tail contained knots (WHICH WAS NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME AND THE DAMN TAIL DIDN'T HAVE ANY KNOTS IN IT!) but the topper was she also stated that If "I didn't like it that there were other groomers". Well that woman is 100% correct! Groomingdales isn't the only pet grooming rodeo in this town and I'm sure there are plenty that treat their customers like their opinion about their own dogs matter. I could have gotten passed his tail being wacked short. (I mean it will grow back right?) I might have even gotten passed the" lie" about his tail being in huge knots, but to be treated with such disrespect and spite I will never go to Groomingdales ever again. We have been taking our Lhasa Apso there for about 3 years. Every single time they groomed him it was like they forgot how to groom a dog!!! We paid $70.00 with tip EVERY 3 WEEKS!!! And, we used the doggie day care. Which us why we stayed with them. The last time our Lhasa was there they shaved a "V" out of the top of his head!!! The owner tried to blame us saying we changed how we wanted him groomed every time, but they never did a great job on him, forgetting to trim his ears or tail or doing such a bad job we had to tell them not to trim his ears or tail! There is so much more I could say about the practices of this horrible business, but I will save it for small claims court! I specifically indicated the size and breed of my dog when I made the appt so to tell me it was because my dog was bigger than expected is pretty irritating. She was nice and soft and wasn't too perfumed which was a positive but her nails were cut with such sharp edges I had to buff them myself when I got home. I asked for a summer cut with a teddy bear cut on his head. She felt his back and head then asked me to pick from the fur length chart the length i wanted. She said he may have to go shorter because of some matting. No mention of additional $$. When I picked him up he was really short all over including his head. He was nicked on both ears which I was not told about. It's been about a month and his one ears is still healing. He normally cost $65.00 and when she said $90.00 I almost choked. I'm sure they don't mind losing a customer because they are a thriving business so I'm now looking for another pet spa. This new Pet Spa has impressed both my fussy dog as well as myself. The women who work here are super friendly and know how to handle all dogs. I love that the dogs can roam while they wait instead of being stuck in a kennel. There are big dog and small dog areas, as well as kennels in the back, if necessary. For a dog grooming place, it smelled pretty nice inside, which is a plus. Their prices are very competitive, with extra add on options for the fancy pet.
