I have 2c/3a hair and have never really trusted people with it after multiple failed attempts at a curly cut but she genuinely amazed me! She even taught me how to style it! So my hair looks good even if I do it! I think it's also important to add that I had super long hair past my butt when I went in, so I was very concerned that she would cut more than I wanted her to, but she absolutely did exactly what I asked for! My daughter was excited and I left her there (was quoted ~ 2 hours for the perm) since she knows what she wanted done to her hair. Pics attached of the perm to this post. It was done in under two hours and when I picked her up the front was curly but I felt the back was ... not done?! We were told to let it 'air dry' and the curls are forever until her hair grows out. Few hours later after it was completely dry we still felt the back was not curly. It had a curtain of waves on top but the bottom looked like her before perm straight hair. I texted the stylist who did the perm the situation. She replied: "She honestly probably just needs a trim, as perms can be a little damaging. If you want to bring her in on friday or Saturday i can do it for her. No charge of course". My daughter was hesitant the trim would be done terribly as well, and in the end she wanted a headful of curls so we didn't go for the trim. Friendly service but sadly disappointing skills and pricey - $150.

We scheduled an appointment with Carrie, so that she could take a look at my daughter's hair in person. At our consultation, we agreed that a blowout would be better, until my daughter gets old enough for a keratin treatment. Carrie is highly familiar with curly hair, an expert, and that is HUGE as I've been to a couple of hair stylists that were completely lost/confused with curly hair. I can't say enough, how thankful we are to have found her!! I definitely recommend Carrie, especially if you have curly hair. Now, we see Carrie regularly. She will be "our girl" forever and ever!

In all of those years I can't recall one instance of looking in the mirror and wondering what happened. We've all seen friends who have had haircuts and wondered if that was their intention . Never happened to my wife or myself with Karen cutting our hair. After all these years I just sit in the chair and she remembers exactly how I want my hair cut. The shop is always neat and clean. During these restrictive Covid times all of the necessary cautions are being taken. The door is locked between customers limiting capacity to those actually getting their hair cut or styled. Those entering are required to sanitize their hands and have their temperature taken. Both her and the customer wear masks. I highly recommend Trend Setters.

She has years of experience and expertice and knows how to get exactly what you want done and even makes recommenations like "well i can add some slight natual red to the brown shade so when the sun hits it, it will really pop".
