GROOVVERYDE WOODMERE IS NOW RYZE + GRIND I cannot say enough about Ryze & Grind .. every time I'm in Cleveland this becomes my home gym. Todd runs this place like a well oiled machine without creating a cold environment. It's located on the second floor of the building, up the stairs and on the left (across from the water fountain). Just follow the sounds of music and laughter. COMMUNITY Everyone at this place is so damn friendly! My very first visit here an older lady with beautiful white hair (another member) told me exactly what I would need for the class and welcomed me personally. Every time you enter you're greeted (by name if Todd is behind the desk). They even hosted a community happy hour last week, providing food and drink tickets to everyone who went. I met so many new people who attended classes at different times so it was great! VARIETY No matter what you are into they have a class at a time that works for you: Barre, Spin, Bootcamp, Weightlifting, Circuit Training, Yoga, etc. My personal favorite is the REVOLUTION class, which combines spin and bootcamp, it is not for the weak lol. Beth and Todd usually teach this class and it is challenging every time. You typically need 3 sets of weights (light, medium and heavy) and you'll do as instructed in the allotted time before hopping on and off the bike for sprints and climbs . INSTRUCTORS When you enter you'll see some lovely new photos of every instructor. Todd is my favorite with Halley (yoga) a close second (her goose is very soothing). I love that they are all diverse, with unique styles and all have great playlists to push you through class. ENVIRONMENT The space is very well lit and I love the spin room with the LED lighting. With fresh paint and their recent rebranding, the place looks awesome. The large room they use for Circuit Training and Yoga holds assault bikes, row machines and a variety of dumbbells. They even have awesome merch, I'm interested in getting a shirt next time I go. Lockers, towels, hair ties, mints and ear plugs are always provided / available. Energy drinks are available for purchase. If you're looking for a new gym give this place a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. This review is specifically for the downtown location (which doesn't have it's own listing). I came here with some friends to try out a spin class. This place may be one of the best places to do it because you can get your first class free, how amazing is that? I have never been to a spin class and I was lowkey terrified. My goals were as follows: 1. Don't fall off the bike and 2. Don't stop pedaling until told to stop. Right from the start of just walking into this place everyone there was very friendly and accommodating. They relieved me of my nerves, answered all of my questions, and helped me set up my bike to my height and strap my feet in. I rented shoes for $2 because of the aforementioned, possibly irrational, fear of falling off of the bike. Kaitlin was our instructor and she was great, very energetic and encouraging. She also showed variations to some of the movements for those who were less experienced with spin classes (because let me tell you the getting up and sitting down movements are a lot harder than they look when you do them while pedaling) which I really appreciated. I was happy that the class also incorporated arm exercises and wasn't just leg focused. Did this class kick my butt? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. If you want to try a spin class - definitely come here. Wowwowowow. I first learned about GrooveRyde from a Yelp event at the Van Aken location. My friend and I took a GrooveCycle class with Zosimo. It was way better than I could have ever anticipated. When you have physical limitations you are almost always setting yourself up for disappointment due to the lack of inclusivity at so many fitness studios...which claim it but don't practice it. GrooveRyde really does. All of this is even better that the co-owners are fabulous people and GrooveRyde is locally-owned and operated. If you're apprehensive about the experience, the fear is probably mostly in your head from feeling stressed out by experiences from chains. Here, the room is dark. There's no leaderboard. No one cares if you're not wearing makeup and its body positive. You don't get an email after class with performance stats. The element of competition is removed; it's just about trying your best, having fun and moving your body. You have options to make your resistance easier or more difficult. No one will judge you if you're limited and choose to take things at your own pace. Zosimo's class was extremely fun - upbeat top 40 music, super motivational and he circulated the room to encourage riders. He and GrooveRyde made me feel confident. The facilities are also beautiful, including the locker area and restroom with showers. This is the kind of place I want to cycle! I cannot wait to come back. GrooveRyde is so much more than a workout studio. Going through one of the most difficult times I've had in my life... I found GrooveRyde, joined an amazing family and became not only physically healthier but mentally healthier too! Their classes are AMAZING and I cannot get enough!! Obsessed. This place is on fire! This boutique fitness studio offers a no judgement, no nonsense - open armed welcome to beginners and advanced fit-letes! The instructors are bubbly, inspiring types that encourage and inspire you to bring your best game. I have taken buti yoga, beat box and cycling and am left craving for more. I'm not the fittest or the strongest of types but I genuinely love working out! The music is always on and bumping- I am greeted with smiles and by name:) The energy is high when I walk in and any tiredness or doubt of -if I have the energy to get through class is left at the door! I'm now committed and ready to party. This place embraces you with such a warm welcome paired with a dose of "set your intention," "fulfill your goals," bottom line "you made it hear now make it happen." I've been going to spin classes for many years and have been to a lot of other spin studios/classes around Cleveland. I wanted to check this place out based on the great reviews. The class that I went to can best be described as a spin class on steroids, not for the faint of heart. I took my husband with me, who is newer to spin. I was encouraged at the beginning of the class when the instructor told us that the mantra of the studio was that the class was not a competition, that everyone rides together and keeps up with the beat of the songs. That was until I realized that all of the songs were really fast (probably ~120 RPM)!! I basically had to keep my resistance really low for the whole class in order to keep pedaling that fast for so long. When it came to jumps and figure eights, I was more worried about trying not to injure myself than with keeping up with the instructor. I like that an arm workout was incorporated (there are two free weights on every bike), but I kept bumping into my neighbor when I tried to move my arms. Needless to say, my husband couldn't make it through the whole class and had to leave halfway through! Because of the above issues, I did not feel that I had as good of a workout as with other spin classes. The other classes at this studio sound interesting, so I might try those out instead next time. read more

I cannot speak highly enough about grooveryde. Every instructor you meet brings the energy and good vibes. There's a wide variety of music and even if it's not your favorite it WILL have a good beat. They have excellent choreography, they motivate you, and push you to your limit. Classes are hard but in a good way. I also love cycling with the owner Zosimo. I love finding new places to workout so that I can have a "go-to" no matter where I am around town. GrooveRyde is a great modern and edgy facility. My friend and I registered for their Beat Box class and had our behinds handed to us. The classes are challenging yet fun, and the music is sure to please. Excellent, excellent! Having gone through many different spin classes - from soul cycle both in Miami & NYC, peloton classes, as well as cycle bar here in cleveland... I can say GrooveRyde spin classes definitely give you the best workout in Cleveland with the most fun bundled in. You actually spin to the beat of the music (much like soul cycle). My coworker and I were in the area for business and decided to give GrooveRyde a try to stay healthy(ish) on the road. I booked ahead but my coworker was able to walk right in and snag a bike. The prices are extremely reasonable ($12 for your first visit, $17 drop in) but I am used to Boston prices so that seemed like a total bargain to me! As far as the class went, we had Jessica as our instructor. She did some tapbacks and pushups on the bike (which I personally don't like but a lot of people seem to love that so if that's your thing then this studio does those). The music was decent and at a much lower volume than I am used to which was a good thing. The class itself was hard but not too hard and I left a sweaty mess, which was the goal! The studio itself is stadium style which is awesome so there are no bad bikes in the studio. It was very clean and the bikes appeared to be new. They also have lockers and sell water both cold and at room temp if you forget yours. I would definitely go back if I was in town. read more

GrooveRyde is THE BEST studio I have experienced in quite sometime. I live in the DC area and have numerous high end, boutique fitness studios within a three block radius of my home. These studios are excellent, but they still cannot touch the quality in teaching and diversity of classes offered by GrooveRyde. I have two boutique memberships in DC just to have the diversity of classes GrooveRyde offerers. GrooveRyde is the only studio I go to when visiting my parents in Cleveland. I have taken classes at the Woodmere and Van Aken locations. Both are top notch and on par with offerings in NYC, LA and DC. read more

I am new to spinning and boot camp workouts and as others have mentioned, I have found all their instructors very helpful, energetic and positive. They offered tips and alternatives to the more strenuous moves. It's a small contemporary studio with 2 rooms plus one for cycling. The great music and enthusiastic instructors make for a fun, energizing and positive vibe throughout for both newbies and the very committed alike. Beat Box is boot camp combined with boxing and the mix of activities and music help u fight thru the pain. I found the spinning class rep speed too much for me even with little resistance & had to stop several times. Experienced spinners however had a blast. For now I'll stick with their other classes, but might try the cycles down the road as my endurance and flexibility improve. read more

Visiting from NYC, I didn't have high expectations for group fitness in Cleveland-- I mean, I'm from the birthplace of Soul Cycle, Peloton, Barry's, Equinox etc. etc. but to be honest.... GrooveRyde's got them all beat. No pretension, just great workouts in a super modern, yet hole-in-the-wall facility. The vibe is all about camaraderie and staving off heart disease at the same time. The instructors are enthusiastic and always down to give pointers. And, my god, the music. The music choices. So good. Bottom line: if you want a great workout on par with anything in NYC, for 1/4 the price-- check GrooveRyde out for basically any class. You won't be sorry. read more

In town visiting family and didn't want to miss too many of my normal daily workouts. Found this little gem on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Soooooo glad that I did! Sign up online was extremely easy and convenient. When I arrived 10 minutes before the class the young lady that signed me in was so gracious to show me around the studio and get me fully set up on the bike. Looking up at the wall behind the instructor Vicky were various unconventional quotes from the likes of Kanye, Biggy and Tupac. At that point knew I was in for a fun ride. Vicky the instructor was so motivational, her energy is what helped me through a pretty tough ride. I loved it! Will definitely be back anytime I'm back in Cleveland. I Soul Cycle and Orangetheory in LA and GrooveRyde is a top-notch facility. Everyone was super friendly and made me feel at home. The music in the cycle class got me so hyped up, I nearly jumped the steps on my bike! I wish they were in LA, so I could be a regular at this place. The vibe was fun & inspiring... What an amazing place to have in a small little suburb of Cleveland! I am in love with this place! I have been visiting GrooveRyde since they opened on Chagrin, each instructor is sweet, kind, passionate, and completely bad ass all at the same time! This is not your normal exercise studio, cycling club, or gym! You will find instructors that not only know what they are doing, but are experts at it! They live and breath helping others get into the best shape of their lives, and I don't just mean physical shape, I mean mental and spiritual as well! They inspire, motivate and educate! I love GrooveRyde for so many reasons. I started going soon after they opened and have tried most of their classes. I mostly spin a couple times a week and love that you are not competing against other bikers. You just ride to the beat! Of course the beat is often very fast or harder and slow but if you need to slow down, nobody cares. There are no distracting computer displays, just the music and the instructor in a dimmed room. So nice! The music is great and all of the instructors are fun and sweet. My husband does the beat box classes and so do my daughters. The owners are great and really know their stuff. The place is welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend this place! read more

They have some of the nicest bikes I've ever used at a spin studio which is a high honor as I have studio-hopped while a member of ClassPass.
