One word: 4 stars if it had a foot more space in its shoulder-width aisles... Jesus, if my coffin ever feels like that... But oh, the memorabilia. Which more than makes up for any temporary discomfort permanently, at least in this graveyard... Just remember to pause your gaze at the cool merch staring right back at you from all sides and try to focus on your elbows every now and then (or your bag's elbows you didn't know existed--mine has) in case, you know, you make that abrupt turn... Final word: Whether buying back a piece of your childhood memory is your thing, like my Hubby's, or your nostalgia is simply out on a whim, like my Hubby's, this is the spot in Asbury Park to start digging. It holds everything from books, comics, posters, vinyls to old toys and collectibles. I mean, everything from Scooby Doo, to He-Man, Ghostbusters, LoTR, horror figures and beyond are buried here. Again, Hubby digs here while I'm up two blocks away (at Rebel Supply) looking for gems myself... Though I try to accompany the guy for "approval"--to make sure there's actual space left in our little nest for his strange newfound baby(ies). Extra words: The graveyard is buried deep in the back of The Shoppes (at the Arcade) on the eastbound side of Cookman Ave. and across America's Cup. Happy digging! Seriously. Happy digging. Send out a loud yelp if you ever unearth Bionic Six. So far, we've only spotted Fluffy, as I like to call him, and no, I don't mean Hagrid's three-headed dog in Harry Potter. Okay, I have to go now--I mean, you have to go. Go see the graveyard.

There are so many collectables! And new ones come in all the time.

The vendors on the floor are kind and relateable. They'll talk music or culture or just leave you to your business, depending on your vibe.

Found some great vinyl at reasonable prices. Found a Ziggy Stardust with very little mileage on it. Spent too much money lol.

Princeton Record Exchange is the kind of place that convinces you the past did not entirely lose…read moreit's argument with the present. Walking in makes me feel like I'm stepping back into the 90s, when music required effort and curiosity and a willingness to be wrong about what you thought you liked. They have everything. Records, tapes, CDs, and yes, even DVDs and VHS tapes, like artifacts from a civilization that understood patience. The selection is not just large, it is deep in the way a good conversation is deep. Jazz standards sit comfortably alongside obscure classical recordings. Somewhere nearby is a Japanese scream band you have never heard of but suddenly feel compelled to investigate. What makes the place work is the staff. These aren't people who ended up here by accident. They're here because they love music in a way that can't be faked. Ask for something familiar and they will find it. Ask for something strange and they will find it too, and then suggest three more things you didn't know you needed. It reminds me of the record stores I grew up in, back when discovering music felt like a small personal victory instead of an algorithm handing you a suggestion like a fortune cookie with better branding. Streaming may have made everything available, but it also made everything feel the same. This place resists that. It insists that music is still worth searching for, still worth holding in your hands, still worth talking about with another human being. Go here. Spend more time than you intended. Trade in something you hope others will discover as you once did. Leave with something unexpected. That's the whole point. Five stars, and I don't give them lightly, because enthusiasm is a finite resource and should be spent where it matters.

Mr. Cheapo - You'll find a lot of great stuff. You might have to take two trips back to your car for all the stuff you'll buy.

I was going down to Long Island. I remembered my friend Glenn told me all about this record store…read more It was in Mineola not far away from where I was going to Manhasset New York. Hard to get parking on the street in front of the record store. There's a few spots, but I went around to a parking lot around back behind where the hardware store in diner are. I went and it was pretty busy even on a Tuesday at around 1:15 PM. I was impressed how well organized the store was clean looking too. One of the employees notice me and said "may I help you" I said I was just looking around. I see how it's organized with the CDs and DVDs. He said in the back of the vintage records and cassettes . Everything was laid out very nicely and organized well. Lots and lots of DVDs Blu-ray discs lots and lots of CDs. Many many records as well. Prices looked great on the DVDs. Somewhere $.99 dollar $.99 $2.99 TV box sets also inexpensive. Very good prices on The Records as well. CDs as well but I didn't look at too many of them. I really wanted to check out the cassette section. They had two big sections of cassettes both of them. You had to ask one of the employees to open up the sliding doors. Except for one section with folk cassettes, and some Grateful Dead live cassettes. Immediately picked out about 10 folk cassettes . Pete seger Bonnie Raitt. The letterman, etc.. I went up to the front and told the guy to please unlock the cassette area. Lots of rock and pop from A-to-Z. Most prices were $.99 $1.99. $2.99 $3.99. Some more hard to get ones were $4.99 $6.99. Anyway, I picked up well over 30 tapes. Definitely some I haven't seen before on cassette others. I wanted to get, but were a little pricey in other stores. I told the guy was ready at the front and he came back to lock the area where all the cassettes were. He said wow you got quite a collection of tapes there. He helped carry up a bunch of them. I left them at the counter for them to start pricing. They said thank you for helping clear out some of the cassettes. Maybe not that many people get cassettes anymore. But I still have a cassette deck in my Lincoln town car. As well as a nice couple of boxes, walkmans and a nice tape deck for my stereo system hi-fi system Lots of good CDs. I looked at while they were checking out the tapes The employees were very friendly. I talked to them as they were finishing ringing up the tapes they gave me a punchcard and I got five punches. They told me the stores been there for 40+ years. I'll have to go back and look through the CDs and DVDs next time I go down there. I would definitely recommend this record store. Everything is clean, not dusty or musty laid out very nicely and clearly. There are fantastic deals here. Be careful you might spend too much money and go home with a load of stuff.

The owner plays a good mix of music to keep you feening for yesteryear. Bring any Classics you may have around and see what you can get. Can easily make a new friend and bond with those who have come to enjoy erstwhile. It's a but cramped and crammed with stuff but that's part of its charm.
