Maggie was our groomer today, she was very communicative with me and explained that it took a little longer because she had to go slower because my girl was nervous. I can't not express my thanks to you! The staff is so sweet and kind! I especially love the fact that they let the dogs roam around like they're family. I asked for them to cut her fur short as we are entering summer, yet keep her ears and tail wispy, and they did just that! I will definitely be back with her! Very recently, my 18-year-old female cat began manifesting difficulty grooming herself, and being long-haired, this became a real issue. She had never allowed me to groom her, and I didn't think anyone else could, either. I knew if this were the case I might have to have her put down. Her health, otherwise, did not indicate this need and I felt enormous stress over the possibility of having to make that decision. I remembered that Abby had successfully groomed my daughter's long-haired tuxedo, and chose to try, even given Minnie's resistance to grooming, or even being handled, in the past. If I could give ten stars, I would: Minnie emerged from the session looking like a resurrected cat! Abby shared with me how patient Minnie had been during her time with them; but I know it was Abby, and any staff who assisted her, who were the patient ones! Their patience only rubbed off on Minnie. And as all animals are keenly perceptive at "reading" humans, Minnie absolutely knew Abby cared about her and was there to help her feel better. I can't praise Groovy Pet Grooming enough! Our little dog does not like her nails trimmed in the least. It is quite a traumatic experience for her. She loves going for rides, bit freaks out when we pull up to the vet where she has her nails cut. We came here because Yelpers reviewed it so highly. They were not wrong. Here they grind the nails not cut them. I handed her to the groomer. A minute later I heard the nail grinder going but no whining or squeeling like she usually does. I just had to peek around the corner to see what was happening. One groomer was cradling her while another one was grinding her nails. She was calm and not resisting. I can see why this place is such highly rated on both Yelp and Google. Our miniature dachshund has PTSD (not kidding) from a traumatic nail trim experience in the past. She hates anyone touching her feet due to above experience. Her nails were super long due to not going to the vet during the pandemic and us not being able to keep up on her nail trims. After doing some research, I came across Groovy Pet Grooming. I was impressed by the many 5 star reviews and decided to give them a try. They accept walk-ins so we took our dog in early on a Saturday morning. We explained that she has major anxiety about her feet, and it's best of she is held while trimming her nails. Bella was shaking like a leaf, but we felt comfortable handing her over to the groomers capable hands. They have dividers, but you are able to see into the grooming area. When my husband peeked over the barrier he noticed that one of the staff members was holding her, while the other used the grinder. He said that she was still and did not look traumatized. Such a relief from prior experiences. We were glad that they used a grinder on her nails and not a clippers. Bella did Yelp and whine, but we chalk that up to she hates nail trims, not that the staff was hurting her. 10 minutes later, she was handed back, we paid the $12 and walked out the door, all 3 of us happy. I have two high energy dogs. One's a recent rescue who was abused as a puppy. They can both be leery of people and are extremely sensitive to people's feelings (like nervousness and fear). They usually have short nails from walks but they were getting long. I dreaded taking them to a groomer because the vet can be a pain. These people know what they're doing. I just recently rescued my rather large dog, Jacob, and therefore wasn't too sure how he would do at the groomers, as I didn't know all his habits yet. Colton was so very patient with him and we now have a better idea of what he tolerates well and what he doesn't. There is no doubt that the patience and care Colton ( and Daniella who kept Jacob distracted while his nails were clipped ) gave to Jacob made this a positive experience for him. I have a 14 year old doxie with failing vision and separation anxiety. I connected with Abby at GPG and made a "wait for" appt. where I bring Gracie in and wait for her so she's not in a crate, it's in for her service and right out. The appts are always at non mainstream times and in high demand but worth the wait.
