So friendly and amazing at what they do! My two kitties came in and desperately needed a spa day and they got it! Baths, nail trims, pretty hair cuts and they smell like newborn babies!! I really appreciate this place and its employees as it can be really hard to find cat groomers who will do baths and also can make them look so pretty! We took our Henry, a four-year-old large goldendoodle, here for the first time. Because he requires relatively frequent grooming, we've been to a number of groomers around town, but this was the best groom he has ever had (and I don't say that lightly). Usually we have him groomed at daycare so that he can frolic before and afterward, and we love their grooms. But this is likely our new spot. First, I felt great leaving him there because several people pet him upon entry, and they said that it might take longer than I am used to because (in addition to having limited equipment) they take breaks to pet the dogs and let the dogs relax. They did exactly what we asked (short, not shaved; longer on face, except for the beard; special attention to ears; glands and teeth) and produced a safe, very happy doggo. read more

I started going here because my groomer moved here from Bubbles and Bark (same owner). I have been very pleased. My Pekingese hates most people, but he loves Susan and she always makes him look sharp. The other staff is friendly and welcoming. He's usually done before the time quoted and is alway well cared for, happy and healthy when I pick him up. read more

Brought my pup here multiple times.... was great at first but the service started slipping so I will be finding a new groomer. Not only the time took 4 hours, the instructions on how I wanted him cut were totally ignored. He came back shaved and thinned, he WAS a fluffy dog, now he looks like an overgrown rat. This has happened before, so the last time I was very specific with my request, but I think this last time is the worst yet. Taking my business elsewhere. read more

Avoid at all cost, please see the pic I posted of what happened to our dog. We have used them a few times in the past and they always took longer than the amount of time they estimated, the hair cuts weren't that great, and they didn't always do everything we asked. Today we decided to give them another shot since our dog really needed to be groomed. These people cut our dog which required them to take her to the veterinarian and they didn't bother to call us... they only told us when we went to pick her up and honestly they didn't even seem that concerned about it. I don't care that they didn't charge us for the haircut, I will warn every pet owner I know to stay away from this place.. we will NEVER use them again. read more

The last time I got my dog groomed here I asked for them to "freshen him up." I went to pick him up and they had completely shaved my once fluffy dog until he looked like a rat. I decided to try them again this time and to ensure the same thing didn't happen I specified that I didn't want him shaved, only groomed because I wanted his hair to stay long. Firstly, when I went inside to pick him up they said they only allow one customer in the waiting room at a time, keep in mind it's 10 degrees outside. After waiting in the freezing cold for a number of minutes I come inside to find that they have once again shaved my dog to look like a rat even though I SPECIFICALLY said not to. When I told her this is not what I wanted she began to argue with me by saying his fur was matted in numerous places and there would have been unshaven spots all around. This is a lie because I know for a fact there was only one matted spot under his leg. They continued to argue with me by saying I should be bringing him in every month to get groomed so that they wouldn't have to shave his matted fur. Needless to say, I will definitely not be going back here. The staff is rude and talentless. I don't recommend this spot to anyone unless you want your dog to look like a rat afterwards. read more

Took my wiry, little terrier mutt here for a complete grooming. The staff were very nice and gave me a thorough and specific explanation of what the cut would be like, etc. I picked up my little guy a couple hours later and he was happy and absolutely adorable. I have been taking all of my dogs here since they opened over 20 years ago. From puppies to seniors, not only have they been groomed to my specifications, but always very clean and great smelling. They have gone out of their way to inform me of any behavioral or health problems they have confronted. They always say they are not vets but because of their experience in grooming and handling show and obedience dogs they are able to spot problems early on. They are loving towards all of the dogs and mine can't wait to get in the door. They have helped me with skin issues for my old girl. Not just selling me a medicated shampoo but educating me about different foods and eliminating grains. It helped her almost immediately. The receptionist has always been polite and helped me find an appointment that fit my work schedule. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. read more

This used to be a great place to take my 2 chihuahuas to get groomed. Recently however, it takes 2 weeks in advance to even get an appointment. They told me my dogs would be ready at 1:00. They were not ready until 2:30 and they were not even finished I finally just said just give them to me how they are. I asked that both of my dogs nails be painted. One did not even get painted and the other one's nails were all smugged and I had to take the polish off when I got home because they looked so bad. I don't think their service is worth the $65 i paid to have my dogs groomed, especially because they didn't even finish the job! I would not recommend this place to other Grosse Pointe dog owners! read more

They argued with me about the way to cut my dogs hair. I just wanted a simple shave everywhere, they insisted on leaving some facial hair. They finally agreed to cut it the way I want. I get back 3 in a half hours later and they cut it the way they wanted to. My dogs were not shaved, they had long hair on their legs and face, and as an added bonus there was a 3 inch scrap on one of my dogs back with bald marks next to it... I was very disappointed as they came highly recommended, but I will never go back there. Also, the hair on their face was not even faded in, so it looks like they are wearing a mask. Everything from their legs to their face is uneven. read more

If this grooming was supposely done at our shop...why didn't you call the owner of the shop and state your complaint. I have no records of a dog being in our shop or any situation that matches your complaint. Are you sure this was done at Grosse Pointe Pet Salon or another shop with a similar name? If we did do your dog please call me Karen Gunn at 313-882-8939, First of all none of my groomers would argue and never insist....they would suggest a coat length or haircut style. They would look to see if the dog had fine hair...if so, a longer lengh may be better with the cold temperature so the skin wouldn't be exposed. Also most groomers at any shop with new customers may leave a litlle more hair then "take everything off". ( We can always take off more hair but we can't put it back on.) Again, please call me: if we did do your dog. I personally will make it right at no charge to you!! read more
