Have been going to Grottos for a little over 10 years, great service, great food until ....Just left with a health code issue. There was a guy (Alex) with long hair (no net) at the window to the bar taking off his Hat multiple times and putting hands, through. I looked at him and asked him to stop. He laughed in our faces and shook his head all over the counter taking hat off and on shaking hair laughing at us. I asked for a manager, none available. I call and speak to the manager who was, in fact, there....He said this young man was getting hair cut soon? This kid was arrogant enough to literally do it again behind his managers back. . I'd say this place has one of the best tasting pizzas around..The cheese is awesome.. The cold cuts are even better. Plenty of meat and very flavorful. The menu seems small but it's a pizza shop with plenty of choices for toppings. I've never had a bad server and never had to wait very long for a seat at any of their locations. I came in to see the Steeler Game, as fate would have it. I have grown up in the Pittsburgh area as part of the Steeler family, and see the meaning of work ethic, and have always embraced my Steeler heritage, from living/working/interning in Mexico City to Pittsburgh to now Delaware. I say this because I feel I know work ethic pretty well and I recognized it in their hostess and waitress. This was the 2nd week in a row and while your hostess hustles constantly, she found me a booth where I could work on my laptop, and for 2 weeks in a row she has made sure I received all I needed. Your waitress, Kayla M, 18571, was SUPERB. She was SLAMMED busy, and despite being all over the place, she patiently let me watch the game, never pressuring me once to hurry, get my items and go, and she was awesome. Stopped in for a quick veggie to-go sub at the back counter during Labor Day weekend 2019. I consider The Dough Roller to be the closest thing to Grotto Pizza in the Delaware/Maryland Eastern Shore area. So I thought I would be seeing a similar menu since I haven't been to a Grotto Pizza in a while and have not been at all since I became vegan in 2018. For comparison, at the Dough Roller you can get at least two vegan options: the veggie sub and spaghetti with red sauce and even veggies added in. But much to my surprise there were no veggie subs on the menu. However, the crew working the to-go counter was very pleasant and helpful and made me an off the menu grilled veggie sub, although they seemed perplexed by the request. The sub was delicious and the staff truly helpful. But I am baffled that in this day and age there is no veggie sub on the menu. Would I return? If there were no other options. Do I recommend? If you are not vegan - yes. If you are off dairy - no. This is a meat and cheese heavy menu. Side note, there are only two single bathrooms (one men, one women) for the whole big restaurant. read more

Delicious pizza. Great service. The price was okay. The pizza spot is located walking distance from the Hampton Inn. And they offer a discount if you stayed at the hotel. Not to mention the drinks were just as good. The only thing I didn't like was there a upcharge for everything crust- topping and so forth. Ok, so this place was a total bust for me. I ordered at 12:30 a sub and it's 1 o'clock now and still no sub. I am not telling them to keep it because hell bin waiting 30 already. I am an out of town truck driver. I was looking for a place to eat and I found Grotto pizza. Never heard of them before so I thought I'd give them a try. I was greeted almost instantly, given a menu and ordered some food. Everyone behind the counter was so nice to me. I told them I was from out of town and hungry lol. I ordered fries, broccoli and cheese bites, and a 12 inch sub. Just the smell of the food was making me even more hungry. The food looked and tasted great. They even left me a note. Mediocre food at best. Service was extremely slow. And it was not that busy and there appeared to be an abundance of staff on hand. We sat for over 10 minutes before getting our drink orders taken. Then the food came out piecemeal. My dish came out cold (how the hell does a calzone come out of the kitchen cold?). Then we waited 20 plus minutes for the waitress to come claim the check and we ended up flagging down another staffer in order to pay our bill. The pasta dishes are good, but the pizza is surprisingly blah (surprising because that's how they made their name). Appetizers are nothing special, but the gelato is delicious. For a long time, my employee has raved about Grotto Pizza. That's all he talked about for a couple of years. Finally, this past weekend, we had the opportunity and tried it. The pizza is so-so. I've had much better at real Italian pizzerias. Also, we and another couple thought it was way too noisy with a dozen or more TV's blaring. We didn't know this was a sports bar. I know Grottos and Delaware go together like ....well they go together. My friends and I stopped here on our way home to PA from North Carolina and we. were. hungry. The good times usually at Lewes or Longneck having lunch specials with a big coors light but today i found myself in Seaford and was getting a take home small pizza, remember small pizza! Grotto's is best known for its pizza. They have been around for years, growing from one location in Rehoboth years ago, they now have nearly 20 locations throughout Delaware. Their pizza is a Delaware favorite, but I like the Verdi Bolli and the Veggie Pannini best. read more

The food was good. The service was terrible. A birthday party came in and, requested our waiter (Gregory). He dropped us like a bad habit and, that was the last we seen of him for awhile. I had to go to the kitchen area to find a new waitress. Thankfully (Nicole) came along and, took care of us, she was great. The manager was non existent despite trying to contact him on several occasions. Our waiter did show back up once we were done eating and, the bill was paid and, the tip was on the table. After a rough lunch at another local restaurant, this was a refreshing dinner experience. First impressions were not the greatest as three teenage hostesses stood chatting for a solid minute before one of them shouted over her colleagues to welcome us and take us to our seats. She led us to a booth a few feet away in about the highest traffic area in the place, though most of the other booths and tables seemed empty. At least she was accommodating when we moved to a more intimate one a little further into the room. It was all uphill from there. The appetizers (boneless wings) were great, as was the stromboli and drinks. My wife also enjoyed her margarita pizza very much. The waitress was mostly energetic and friendly. Overall the experience was awesome, though considering the culture of the place (very high volume to kids and teenagers running around playing arcade games and things, many seemingly after sporting events), the check as quite steep. The food was great, but the service and ambience of a good restaurant should match its quality of food and price range, not detract from it. That said, next time we're in Delaware, we will likely come back for more. :) read more

A very popular spot at the beach, and now a big player in the Seaford area. Pizza isn't exactly spectacular. However, this is a local eatery/bar and what comes with that? Locals. Both good and bad. It's not the ideal place for a family to dine in on a weekend night; the bar can get rather loud. But it is a good spot for a dinner party or end-of-the-year soccer awards ceremony (brought my team here) as they have a dedicated room for such events. There's a good mix of reviews here but it's just one of those places where you either love it or hate it... but you gotta try it once. read more
