Tonight we placed an order for delivery and there was some confusion with delivery or pickup. After talking to them, they were so accommodating and went above and beyond to make it right. Truly, we couldn't have been happier with our experience having lunch at Laurel Pizzeria. I ordered the crab cake meal, which came with a side salad, garlic bread, and a side order of pasta. All of them were good, particularly the crab cake, which was made with high-quality crab meat and had a terrific flavor. My partner ordered a white pizza and said that it was one of the best he's had. We did our lunch via take-out and everything was accurate. We have been looking for a good pizza/Italian place since moving to western Sussex County a year ago and FINALLY found one. We got a pepperoni and they were not kidding about double pepperoni and cheese. Very good. Also had the Chicken Parm and Eggplant parm which were both excellent. The sauce was a little sweet for our vegetarian on the eggplant but still very good. No leftovers and happy family! They brought the food right out to the car for me quickly when I got there and put it in the trunk for me. Very appreciated in 2020. Will be our go-to place from now on. read more

Have gone there for a long time, food is always great. Wait staff is excellent! Here's where they fail. The host's/hostess's are always so sad looking and unfriendly. This is never a smile, happy face or greeting. When they seat you there is never any acknowledgment and/thank you. Do they get their demeanor from the front area manager?( I think he is). He is also unfriendly and never smiles(unless he's joking around with one of the young female workers). He's a middle-aged Hispanic male with a glare that cuts right thru you! I was staying nearby while on vacation and this place was my go to if nothing else appealed to me. It was always the best choice for us. Laurel Pizzeria is moderately priced! Being local to the area, we have eaten here countless times. Usually I order the meat lasagna, gyros, crabby melt, or Stromboli's. Those are our favorites typically. Tonight we decided to order a white pizza (The Bianca) and added bacon and mushrooms to it. Now just so you know, we purposely never order pizzas because we make them at home WAY better than any place around us. But we were feeling lazy tonight, and I was completely surprised!!! This pizza was by far THE BEST pizza I have ever had from a restaurant. Let alone right in my town! The ingredients were really fresh (and that's coming from a gardener) and had so much flavor to it. And it was loaded with bacon (which is something I never thought I'd say)! I highly recommend their pizza if you visit ! My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is their crab soup.. We went with a large party, and all just ordered what we wanted from the menu. Our waitress was Austyn, and I was amazed at the skill she displayed handling our large group efficiently and accurately. While several people ordered pizza, my wife and I opted for individual meals. So, I will not be reviewing the pizza. A word about the menu at Laurel Pizzeria. They have ample seating, so have tried to expand from a pizza carry out shop to a "real" Italian restaurant. They have a varied menu. So varied that my wife suggested that they were more of a diner than just a pizzeria. Lots of appetizers, salads, the usual pizza selections, hot and cold subs, cheesesteaks, Stromboli, pasta dishes, and a short list each of entrees and seafood. But, in my humble opinion, they have succeeded in being a really large pizzeria and sub shop, but failed at becoming a first class Italian restaurant or a diner. I do have to give credit for the chef, who obviously got creative in many of the pasta and oven melt dishes, with a broad selection of ingredient combinations. Interesting indeed. I was impressed at the variety. However, when you have such a broad selection on the menu, something has to give. And what gave was the selection of classical dishes. Having recently relocated from NJ, we are used to seeing a selection of pasta shapes on the menu. More than just fettuccine, spaghetti, ravioli and ziti. They do not serve veal, a staple in any self-respecting Italian cucina. No Marsala, saltimbocca, piccata, Francaise or Bolognese. The creative dishes pushed the classic dishes off the menu. Oh, and not EVERY Italian dish requires mushrooms, although that's what the chef seems to think. There's a joke that to make a dish French, just add wine. Apparently the corollary is to make a dish Italian, just add mushrooms. IMHO, to make this an Italian restaurant, put the classic dishes back on the menu, and feature the "creative" dishes as rotating nightly specials. Now as to the quality of the food. My side salad, which accompanied my order, was laughable. A small plate of iceberg lettuce topped with one cherry tomato, one slice of cucumber, a thin part slice of green pepper and a few croutons. Pathetic. The Sicilian Chicken was tasty, but the food presentation left much to be desired. There was this big pile of food, covered in melted mozzarella, on one side of the plate and a pile of spaghetti with red sauce on the other. As I dug into the mozzarella covered pile, I did find the promised chicken and egg plant. But as I cut each bite, I was never sure what I was going to put into my mouth. The spaghetti with red sauce was nondescript. The portion size was ample, and we took home enough for another meal the next night. My wife ordered a quesadilla appetizer. She should have known better than to order this in a pizzeria. She asked for chicken, but we could find none when we checked at home the next night. She described the item as "flat as a pancake." Like I said, she should have known better. It was a major disappointment. I think that the person who told us that Laurel Pizzeria was a great restaurant must have never been to a nice Italian restaurant. I won't say "don't go there." I will say that it's a fine option as a pizzeria or a super-sized sub shop. We may go back to try the pizza. I will also say that my wife and I need to adjust our expectations for "great dining" in LSD. read more

The service here was excellent! The food was also very good! I had the chicken Gyro, which was not those reconstituted chicken strips, but was actually real chicken! It seemed like they took an actual chicken breast and grilled it up and chopped, it into small pieces. It was delicious! My wife had a small Grecian Pizza, which was only 10.99, but was very good! I would rate that at least 7 out of 10. The only thing missing was the crust. Not that the crust wasn't good, which it was, but it didn't quite match the pizza. It was reminiscent of a great pizza I had in Gettysburg, PA called "Zorba the Greek" at Dino's Pizzeria. This was really an excellent meal, and I am so glad we went here! read more

During this difficult time of the Corona Virus, Americans are asked to support small businesses with take out orders. Last night my daughter drove over 30 miles each way to bring her sick father his favorite pizza and Italian sub. Let's start with the bologna sandwich with a slice of cheese, one half slice of tomato and a small chunk of the core of yellow lettuce. Totally disgusting!!! The pizza was made with little or no sauce. Completely substandard quality ingredients and preparation. To the owners of this establishment..... you keep a careful eye on the profit margin and I suspect know how the food left your restaurant. If this would have been a dine in, it would have been sent back. I will NEVER spend another dollar at either restaurant and I only hope the your business pays the price for you deception. read more

BEWARE! Drivers do not carry cash so you better have exact change for your delivery. I just had to tip someone $15 cause that's all the cash I had. Called ASAP and spoke with manager who could not care less. He offered to have her come back with change, but it is storming so I did not accept his offer. He said you can always put in the "remarks" portion of your order that you will need change and they will send driver with cash. Aside from their very well made pizzas (that are very much comparable to their competitors), everything else is typical. The appetizers are pre-made at a facility, frozen upon arrival (stay away from anything that has "Sticks" in its title). The majority of the menu is pretty much the same items that you will find at all the other competing pizza joints in Sussex County. Subs, clubs and steak subs are delicious; some pasta dishes as well as other entrees are average. the crab cakes were better than most establishments in the surrounding towns. If you take-out, you are in luck- they are quick to prepare your order. If you dine in... well, you may or may not get an O.K. server. Quite frankly, you are dealing with mostly locals, that were hired through a friend, or are still in high school (possibly a recent graduate) meaning, they have very little experience in any other establishment. The last server we had expressed nothing but blandness, terrible social skills and was a tad uneasy with the dinner ware. Before her, we experienced a server that had been there since their opening; she was pleasant, attentive and helpful. Also, when they first opened they had... hands down... the BEST hot wings. Unfortunately, the sauces have changed, the quality of the wings have diminished and above all, the price has increased. What a bummer. read more

My co-worker and I have been going to Laurel Pizzeria for the past eight years and have never been disappointed....until today. I normally always order a "Laurel Club", and I have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, today I was served the "Laurel Club" and it only had the turkey, ham, and cheese on it...no mayo, lettuce, or tomato. When I questioned the waitress she said, "Oh, I guess I had to write it down"....and then went further and talked to the Owner/Manager and see how he would handle it...he said that he could give me a plate with the lettuce, tomato, and mayo....as if I wanted to dismantle the sandwich and restructure it myself. No thanks. I barely touched the food on my plate and was still charged the full amount of the bill. BUT...they offered me a free dessert...again, no thanks. So, the moral of this story is...I guess as a customer, it is also my job to make sure to say, "Please remember to put mayo, lettuce, and tomato on this club." I never had to do this before...but, today, I have been educated. This will be my last visit to Laurel Pizzeria, I am sorry to say. read more
