I was looking to resod my rear yard and filled out Ground Sources request a quote form online. I didn't hear back from them so I called later and set up a time to meet with a representative to measure out the job and give me a quote. I took half a day off to be here to meet them and they took all measurements, confirmed sod type, and talked about irrigation. I was told I would get the bid the next day. No bid came and I reached out to the representative to be told it was sitting with his boss for review before it was sent to me. It has been 40 days since then and not a word. read more

I had a sprinkler system installed that never worked properly. I requested repair within the first year and kept getting the run around. The workers are rude and dismissive. I tried one more time and they were still not able to find the problem with the system they installed. They will try to blame the customer and now I see why they have a 2 star rating. I signed a contract with this co. I needed a small amount of sod to replace pine bark. The owner, Joe Mouad, said they installed a pallet. That is a false statement. It was approx. 20 to 30 pieces. They charged me $946 for this. I knew it was an exorbitant amount, but it was difficult to find anyone to do the job because they didn't want a small job or they were backed up for months. The reviews and pictures on his website looked good. I had to wait approx 5 wks. for the install. The person who came to estimate the job said "we will exceed your expectations!" The next time I called him, his phone was not working. On the scheduled date, two guys arrived. I asked one of them to please take stepping stones out of my car for another part of the job. He said he was not going to do it. He had a small piece of paper with a couple things on it and said that was all they would do because they didn't have time and were backed up for six months. I said I have a contract and he said it didn't matter. He appeared to be around 20 yrs. old and high on something and extremely rude. I texted Joe and the mgr. came and removed him from my property. The other guy was sick. He told me he was light-headed and said he might passs out. He also told me he didn't have anywhere to put the pine bark that was removed and asked me to provide garbage bags. I texted the mgr. and he came back and took him to get something to eat. When he returned he was still sick and said he was quitting the job and this was his last day. The sod never looked healthy from day one. The mgr. texted me watering instructions. I had a 30 day warranty, provided I did everything as instructed. I had the sod treated with a co. Joe recommended because they were the only co. that uses the required chemical for the warranty because it is so expensive. I paid that co. $75 each for two visits two weeks apart. I continued to talk to Joe about the grass looking dead. The mgr came and fertilized. Joe told me the mgr. said the sod looks "stressed." He told me he would d something if I prove to him that I watered correctly. He wanted to see my OUC water bill. I provided it. He came over and said he would replace 20 pieces, but not until October 15th. I told him I don't feel comfortable with his employees and asked for a refund. I told him I would dispute the charge with my credit card co. if no refund was given. He said if I do that, he will put a lien on my house. He bragged and his "methods" he takes to collect money from people. And he said "I don't like you." He blamed the bad sod on my irrigation system, which does a great job on the rest of my yard. I even had some new heads installed to be sure it was all covered. He blamed my "old house." Blamed too much water, not enough water, time of year. He said watering instructions texted to me from his mgr. are "meaningless." He criticized big companies for not watering properly and bragged about winning $47,000 in a lawsuit. I asked him the name of the co. he bought the sod from and he said "Duda." I said I didn't think so because Duda is a reputable co. in Oviedo for over 100 yrs. He said he didn't know where he bought it. His website says they travel 100 to 120 miles away to pick up the best sod. It says they are sod experts and to "trust your lawn to Groundsource." It says a pallet is $168.50. And "trust us to find the best quality sod." And "we drive an hour further to get consistent high quality dod that holds up great even in the more challenging installation months of June through September." It also says "are you ready to enjoy the vibrant impressive yard you've always wanted?" He stated in an email to me that he would refund my $946 if I agreed that he could come back at a later date and sue me for the money he refunded. He will not take responsibility for the consequences of his actions. I have posted a google review on his website with pictures of the dead sod and the threatening emails he sent to me. Joe - I find it poor business practice to leave a negative review about my accounting firm when we have never provided any accounting or tax service to your or your company. I suspect you are angry about a negative review of your team's work and are retaliating. The work done by your team was sub-par and your resolution was to drop a few pieces of sod for the owner to replace the weed filled and/or mostly dead sod installed by your team. An unhappy, maybe even irate, customer happens in every business. It is the response of the owner and the efforts made for correction that show the true value of a company. I believe you may have failed here. Better business practice would have been to fix the error, or refund some or all of the fee. read more

I recently had to replace the entire lawn of my recently purchased home. In the process I also found out that I had some sprinkler heads that were hidden and not working. Joe and his crew came out and worked with me in getting a fair deal and they provided me with professional, prompt and courteous customer service. Update: I initially gave Ground Source a 5 star review, however, follow up services have been lacking. Plants that were supposed to be removed completely are growing back and much of the sod is dead. Bad experience...Brown Grass Contacted Ground Force end of Nov 2015. Got an estimate over the phone (bad idea as they didn't give an accurate quote and the price was higher after the work was done). They started first week of December. They spray to kill all the various forms of grass. This takes two processes. Once the second one was being started they stated they will be off two weeks of the first of the year so it would be the second to third week of January before they would be back. So, for the holidays and weeks after, the grass was dead and brown. January 12th the work was done. Finally a green yard, but that was only for two days. On the third day the yard started to turn brown and has had brown spots since. I thought this would be normal and would green up again in two weeks. Before the crew had left the addition, I got a call from Jennifer at their office. Requesting payment for the services. - Services were PAID in full. After two weeks and brown grass I called. The tech came out and told me it was from a frost on the ground. If anyone would check on the internet during the beginning of Jan we were having a warm spell with temps in the 80s. He promised that the company would stand behind their product and work, but that was the last we have seen of anyone from this company. The promised fertilizer was forgotten until the third week. I contacted a few companies and two came out and looked at the yard. They both stated the sod was dry from the pallet to start. The best option is to wait till spring and work on getting the few "good green grass" to populate. I can't state this as fact but only what was told to me. Unfortunately we can't recommend this company at all. We thought based on the reviews that we had chosen the right company. Now out several thousand dollars and needing to invest another several thousand to have another company fix their terrible product, I would agree with the adage that you get what you pay for. Not only is their 30 day guarantee worthless, but they will also upsell you on sprinkler heads , cause you to invest in a 3rd party service, and then still not stand by their product. They claim we didn't follow the watering instructions, however they help you set the watering, then come out again to verify. When the grass began dying after several weeks, owner came out, said it was fine, and to wait another 3-4 weeks. When we contacted them again at the 4 week mark, they explained it wasn't their fault and not their problem. Not sure why they told us to wait and then skipped out on their obligation. I don't know about you, but not telling us things and then not standing by their product is not a good recipe for a successful company. Not sure if they have become complacent in their former success but I predict this company will not be around much longer if they continue with these tactics. Buyer beware. I wish you the best of luck if you have to use this company, but thought it was only right to warn you. read more

Terrible business ethics. We had a despicable experience with these guys. The owner, Joe, should be ashamed of himself and how he chooses to conduct his business. Their team killed our entire front yard sod without our approval or consent and then refused to make it right. Joe showed up to our home to speak in person for what we assumed would be to find a resolution. His resolution was to charge us a ridiculous amount of money to re-sod the lawn, essentially imposing a job on us that was not needed nor wanted. Very manipulative tactics. He would not take accountability for doing something that we told them from the start that we did not want done to our lawn. He was rude, abrasive and lacked any ounce of professionalism. See the accompanying photos of what they did to our lawn. Their communication is awful and they will trick you into services that will cost you more money and are not necessary. They are shady, dishonest, and cowardly. We ended up having to pay another company to come redo our lawn (which ended up being half the price of what he was trying to charge for the same job). Use another company. We bought a new house and knew we needed a new lawn. It was on the top of our to-do list and we were eager to get the job done. We were told the job would be done in the beginning of August and it was just completed in mid October. Some highlights: -Ripped out more sod than they should've. Then I was told I was mistaken even though the guy admitted to my husbands face they made a mistake. -Told us the job took less sod than anticipated, but never saw a savings in our invoice. When I asked about seeing a savings I was told that they had to pay for a second round of "roundup" (only needed this bc it took them over a month to lay the sod) and they didn't charge to remove some rocks (which were visible and discussed at our first meeting) I also did pay for removal services of all our shrubs and was told the rocks would be included. -I expressed my frustration via email- haven't heard back.... and at this point don't want to. -Was recommended Zoysia, we did research on our own bc we started to have concerns with the company and it turns out that Zoysia is a HUGE pain. When I asked about this, Joe confirmed that it is difficult to maintain.... still wondering why it was recommended in the first place (perhaps bc it's more expensive?) - I had to ask about how to care for the sod and then was sent instructions-- why should I have to ask? -used the company to fix our sprinklers and they left old sprinkler pipes sticking out of the ground -Joe was so rude via email and never apologize for any inconvenience we experienced. All in all- if you're planning on spending over 6k on new sod and irrigation give someone else your business. read more

This is the ultimate worst Sod Company. A huge regret going with this company. We had just bought a new house and we were looking to get new grass in the Backyard. They quoted us about $2,000 which seemed pretty high considering our Backyard is not that big. It took them a while to just come out and do the estimate and then to finally schedule the installment took almost another 2 months. I asked them multiple times about laying the Sod during the rainy summer months and being in the shade and they said neither one would be an issue. They finally came out and laid the SOD after not even following up. The Sod was laid in July and essentially never even started to grow in the first place. It was dead from the beginning. We did everything we were instructed to do and the grass never rooted properly. We contacted them before the 30 days and they lied to us by saying we were passed the 30 days and there was nothing they could do. A complete and total lie from a fraudulent company. Then they finally admitted that we were right and kept saying that they would come out and look at it and never did. We sent them pictures of the yard that was completely dead and he tried to tell me that only half of the yard was dead, which he had no clue because he never came out to look at it in person. When we finally got it to be rescheduled and reinstalled for October they told us multiple times that they would come out and do an inspection and never did. They delayed the reinstall yet again then finally dropped one pallet of sod off which wasn't even enough for half of the section of the yard! After all this They didnt even do half of the yard! Then he tries to tell me that he will do the rest of the completely dead back yard for $ 450. Complete BS. Joe Mouad and his entire staff are disappointing to say the least. Recently had to replace the Front Lawn with St.Augustine sod in Orlando,FL, they whole process was painless. this is the only lawn service that is backed by Wells Fargo for financing large project. by no means mine was a large project. the people are nice to talk to and well trained. first they came by to spray the lawn to kill everything and that was few weeks wait then they did everything in one day remove and replace the lawn. good Sod too its been 3 weeks since the replacement and it has never looked better. they did accidentally damaged one of the sprinklers but they also came next day to fix it. they also were nice enough to warranty it as long as you follow their after care for Sod instructions.so all in all it was a good experience I will use them in the future. read more

I have used different companies in the past on my previous home and when I recently moved, I met with several new companies to get bids and estimates to work on my new property's sod replacement and repair to the existing irrigation system. Joe Mouad, the Owner of Ground Source Landscaping immediate impressed me with his knowledge and overall 'workflow'. His bids and estimates were no-nonsense, done electronically on site, and very cost effective. All work was done on time. During the process of replacing the lawn and working on the irrigation system, Joe made himself available to answer all my questions. My experience with this company was very bad; this is not a reputable company. The had to come out to my home three times to "try" to fix a problem with one of my sprinkler zones. They never fixed the problem, but charged me for service. I eventually located the problem myself and repaired it and have not had a recurrence since. They seem to resolve issues through a process of elimination, replacing or repairing without really knowing the problem. This tends to drive up the bill for the customer. This company is all about collecting money and not about service. Stay away from this company if you have landscaping or sprinkler needs. read more

Unlike Sprinkler Repair, who wanted me to replace the entire system for more than $1,100, Ground Source assessed the problem, explained it to me, and fixed the whole thing for $200. Very disappointed in the quality of work and especially their idea of what customer service means. They removed our old grass and installed Bahia grass. I paid in full at the completion of the work. However, despite regular watering and fertilizers, after a few months, the grass was not progressing. There were lumps where it was clear that the sod had been placed over a piece of the old grass or on top of another piece of the sod. The grass has been progressively turning brown again despite our efforts. We called and asked them to come check it out. A guy came and when my husband explained what was happening and what we had done to it, he became agitated and rude. After telling us that the warranty on the grass had expired, he took off without an apology, a recommendation or anything. He didn't even identify himself! Turns out it was the owner. This is no way to run a business, sir. Your work was shoddy and your customer service skills non-existent. Beware all! I wouldn't recommend this company to my enemy! read more

Drainage issues! I had a problem with water pooling in front of my entryway. Due to some concrete problems, that area had become completely level and there was no where for the water to go. During hurricane Irma it found its way into my house, ruining my carpet. I was having the flooring replaced and unfortunately had to delay Ground Source multiple times from putting in the channel drain. Joe was wonderful and so patient with the delays. Overall communication was excellent. His team showed up exactly when they said they would be there and installed a beautiful 10 foot channel drain. They even put in expanders so that when the concrete "flexes" during heat and cold, that there would be no damage. The end of the pipe where the water runs out, is a pop up type that is hidden when not draining so there's no risk of damage from the lawnmower. These aren't workers, they are craftsmen who take great pride in their finished product and customer service. The guys did a wonderful job with keeping me posted through out the day (for progress) and took care of the clean up when finished. I can't say enough good things about Joe and his team! read more
