A disappointment. Friends and I came to eat. Was advised we can sit outside. Sure, I understand it's packed. Yet when the pizza tray was brought out, we asked where can we sit? She shrug her shoulders and looked around ? Okay that's fine. Could've brought it out in a box? They did advise they can, but was poorly communicated & handled. Was busy, staff seemed overwhelmed. With so many breweries opening up, groundswell remains one of the best ones in CV. Chill atmosphere, plenty of seating and a great beer selection. Friendly staff and great service. They also have canned beer in the fridge at the entrance. Parking can be a pain if busy, but not impossible. read more

I initially came here to order some pizza and drinks with some friends to watch the Mexico soccer game. Once I ordered my pizza and paid, I was rudely told by the bartender with bright pink hair, "STEP AWAY from the bar and wait for my food outside." ?????? Mind you, I specifically ordered food and drinks so that we could stay and watch the game inside of the restaurant/bar, such as other customers were doing! Once I was yelled at by other restaurant staff to "get out of their way" as I continued to wait for my food near the bar top while watching the game, I quickly filled with frustration and the. stepped outside due to being yelled at by staff. after 10/15 minutes of waiting outside. A server then brings out my full pizza without its box on a dine-in pizza serving tray, then proceeds to ask me where they would like to place my pizza, knowing that I'm standing outside in front of the restaurant without a table. I then politely ask her to box my pizza. Highly recommended brewhouse. Stopped in for a cold one on a Wednesday afternoon and was promptly greeted by a one woman machine she greets hosts pours and suggests the pizza. Didn't have time to munch but the specialties Looked tasty indeed I rather had a bacon and eggs not the breakfast plate but the imperial porter from Pizza Port it's a colab with Bird Rock roasters as it is made with coffee. Very smooth nice taste and finish for an imperial stout I recommend highly for someone who likes strength and smooth coffee overtones in a stout try bacon and eggs. I sat out front to enjoy the sun but they got ample space inside with a nice pool table to play some eight ball on and a little patio seating in the back. After leaving other bar looked for another spot and food. Friends roamed a little and chose here. I like this brewery as its has beers I like and pizza. Friends ordered i believe a half Sweet heat and the other half which also had honey, glazed and Confused. They said both halves were really good. the also ordered knots and a supreme Pizza. Stopped by during the day. It was lemon fest that day. Lots of foot traffic but not overbearing. They had a back patio, a front patio and seating inside. With the doors open and a fan going, it made it a great relief from the sun and heat. They have a solid option of beers to choose from plus a speciality one since it was lemon fest. I had the lemon specialty which was a scoop of lemon sherbet with any beer. They let us sample a couple of different beers to see which one we'd like it with. Went with the "full painkiller" which is a sour beer. By itself. It wasn't as sour as others. And the lemon scoop balanced it out gorgeously. Staff were friendly. Can't say enough about this brewery. I was in San Diego visiting my cousin for her baby shower and all the men got kicked out so we all rolled Groundswell. The ambiance was so chill and relaxed, the staff were super friendly and eager to assist with beer choices. The food was good as well. Pizza was very good for a brewery, the crust was legit. There are tvs everywhere for people to watch and I appreciated the dodger game being on as they spanked the Yankees 18-2 lol.. the area in general was very quiet and calm and I can't wait to go back. They're also family friendly as we made friends with a local family sitting next us. The place is very casual. They had a couple games you could play while waiting. The service was good. The only issue I had was (I waited quite some time to get this pizza). I almost wanted to just leave and go elsewhere, but once I took one bite into that pizza I don't know what happened. Suddenly, all that irritation just disappeared. I got to say it's been a while but this pizza has got to be best one I have tried in a while. Pizza was 8/10 and salad also was 7/10. Was missing the Parmesan cheese on it. Not too bad for a last minute dinner. The problem was the cheese on the pizza kept breaking off and was left with no cheese on the pizza so naturally we had to scoop all the cheese that stayed on the plate to our pizza slice. We don't live in the area, but we are frequent visitors of the San Diego area. We love to visit Groundswell when we are in town. We camped in Chula Vista for a week recently, and visited Groundswell two days in a row. The drinks were great and the pizza was delicious. Customer service was horrible on 12/6. There was a server who was under a lot of pressure and seemed to be in a bad mood. She was extremely rude to customers. We heard her be very rude when asking people to move out of a reserved area, that did not have any signs of area being reserved. Her customer service was horrible, due to that we left and went right across the street. I get place was busy. But if she can't handle the pressure she shouldn't be scheduled to work on a busy night.
