Great looking plate but it was cold.

My sister was excited to take me to her breakfast spot and I was excited to find a new option. We both ordered the Mole chilaquiles, they came out looking great I didn't mind the smaller portions but I was so disappointed when my first bite of mole was lukewarm and worst when my beans were were just cold. I didn't say anything to my sister, I didn't want her to feel bad, but then she said I don't know why this is cold and frankly I don't understand either.

Probably the best breakfast I've had in recent memory! I had the Sopa Breakfast and everything was perfect! Even the refried beans were spectacular. I am only sad I only have 2 days left to eat here before we leave.

    Chile relleno plate!

CRIS was awesome! She cooked our food! All the food was delicious and fresh! The chile relleno plate was amazing! My brother ordered French toast and he loved it! So not just Mexican cuisine! Fresh Jamaica was awesome! Coming back soon! P.S. they even sang happy birthday to my son! Complimentary birthday pancake!

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with this Mexican eatery. I was going to have a large bowl of menudo, but when I was the rajas omelette, I just had to go that route. The omelette came with roasted poblano peppers, onions, corn, cheese, and topped with a cilantro cream sauce, a drizzle of sour cream, and freshly sliced avocado. The omelette came with a side of chilaquiles, refried beans, and three corn tortillas. The omelette was terrific. The poblano peppers were outstanding inside the omelette. The eggs were well seasoned and tasted great. The cilantro cream sauce was very tasty and complimented the omelette very well. Both, the side of beans and chilaquiles were great. The beans were cream with a nice robust flavor and good seasoning. The tortilla chips on the chilaquiles remained crispy and the red sauce was flavorful. It was a great breakfast. Vanessa's offered a lot of good cooking. The menu is quite large and has a lot of good home cooking. The eatery offers a lot of inside space and non outside.

First I thought that I left a review of Vanessa's.Well let me fix this right now!! I have my go to place on Broadway in Chula Vista but my place was packed on this particular Sunday. Well not wanting to wait we took off for Vanessa's.When we arrived the wait was not long. We sat down right away to the smell of Mexican food. The food was very tasty ,my wife had huevos rancheros and I had chilla killers!! I will be back to this place soon !! Enjoy

Solid mexican food spot. Nothing spectacular in my opinion but nothing bad to say either. Good place for a business breakfast or lunch.

Courtesy and service. Customers shouldn't have to wait outside to be seated. Otherwise they would be waiting outside all day.

Good food, but when you ask for salsa they tell you it's a 3 dollar charge. Not a good way to treat your customers.

Dont go. We had to wait 40 minutes for a terrible meal. It was cold and greasy. They are over priced and have smaller portions.

Parking shouldn't be an issue, they have spots in the front but then there's the big garage right behind it, and it's free. There's also street parking but you might have to pay. The place itself is very spacious and clean. They also have an outdoor patio for dogs. I do know later in the evening it gets louder and more like a club vibe, but it's not bad. Service was perfectly fine. I had no issues at all. Staff greeted us with a smile when we walked in. They were always checking up on us when we needed things. No issues at all. I thought everyone was doing their jobs. Happy hour is so worth it here. $1.99 tacos! I had the carne asada, birria and Chicharonnes tacos! While the meat portions look small, y'all need to realize this is happy hour street tacos! Adding some salsa from the self serve bar, it was so worth the price. We had 11 tacos, cheese nachos, 2 beers and 1 margarita and it was about $50! So worth it! I highly recommend Kalaveras for Mexican food. Great vibes. Great happy hour prices. I think this place is good for large groups also. It may not be kid friendly later into the night but it's very worth it!

He was attentive to our needs and answered questions about the menu and the wines. They used to have a sparkling wine on tap that was delightful, but unfortunately, they no longer offer it. Since, I couldn't decide on a wine, he brought out two glasses for my friend and me to taste. We opted for the sangria. I do recommend it, and it's only $7 during Happy Hour. For food, I was between the salmon dish and the Ahi Tuna dish. My friend and I ordered one of each and split them. I give the Ahi Tuna dish a 10/10! It was so flavorful and it even have mini chunks of mango in it. They were generous with the actual tuna pieces and avocado. The salmon was good, but a bit dry for my liking. I do like how they prepared the sliced carrots, though. We also ordered fries and corn bread for the table. The fries were perfectly salted and super crunchy. The cornbread was warm and came with a side of creamy butter. It was a great piece of cornbread, and I am not even a cornbread girly. I will be returning for the happy hour sangria and the Ahi Tuna.
