I went to Grove on a whim because I needed something different but didn't know what. Sondra did an hombre on me, and I couldn't be happier. She really listened to what I was saying and did exactly what she told me she was going to do, consulting me every step of the way. She knew what I wanted even though I didn't. Grove is an amazing new salon on Solano Avenue. The interior is one of natural beauty and comfort. The ambiance is warm, friendly and professional. Christina is smart about suggestions for hair color and cut - because she's so smart and talented! She knows the ins and outs of mixing product with hair texture which produces the "right" look. Christina did an expert job cutting my wife's curly hair. She has been searching for years because it's really HARD to find someone to do it right! Just finished my second session with Nikki at grove! This lady knows what she's doing and transformed my hair entirely while still maintaining my length with creative layers and giving me the color I wanted. I was in serious need of color correction when I came in and now I'm glad I didn't trust my hair to anyone else. My cut looks amazing and feels great even after multiple lightenings. This salon is such a gem!! After having my hair done in SF for many years, I needed to find a new place closer to home but didn't want to compromise on the top-notch service I was receiving in SF. Well, I found it plus so much more!! Christina is amazing. She gets my hair and my style. She is a genius when it comes to color and highlights. I feel so hip when I leave the salon. The atmosphere is very relaxing and spa like. And the staff are incredibly sweet and helpful. TOP NOTCH!!! This place is outrageously special . It's the kind of salon you'd expect to see in a cool Area of New York, excepts it's right here in Albany! I found Christina, the owner, because I didn't absolutely love my hair and needed a change and a redo. I asked my friend Judy who had the best haircut of anyone I knew and she referred me. From the very first cut I LOVED my hair. The style was spot on for my face, the new color tweak I received was perfect for my skin tone as well as left my hair shines and glossy and healthy. I have no idea what their secret sauce is on the color to make it so fabulous and lasting, but I do know that Christina is up-to-date on the newest products and is constantly going to seminars and conferences to stay uber current. In addition to the amazing service and people there, the shop itself is gorgeously done and it is a design example on how to make a salon eclectic, magical, and super cool without being the least bit snobby.
