My daughter is autistic and non-speaking and also has some medical trauma, so being in any clinical setting is understandably upsetting for her. She is petrified from the moment we walk in; she cries on and off, clings to me like a koala, and refuses to open her eyes from the second we enter the building, but is still pretty compliant with her (very basic) exam. We usually have to wait 15-20 minutes before being taken back, which doesn't help either, but I get it. Today we got some of the usual stares and eye-rolls when my daughter started getting upset, which I don't like but tolerate. We are used to it. My daughter's exam began first, and the hygienist was wonderful with her. She finished before my son was done, so I took my daughter outside to grandma and then returned for my son. When I came back, my daughter's hygienist was huddled up with my son's (he was halfway through his exam, still in the chair) having an animated, whispered conversation that switched topic as soon as the one facing the doorway saw that I had returned (she all of a sudden started pointing to a picture of three kids at my son's hygienist's work station and started more loudly talking about them). In all honestly, they might not have been talking about us or my daughter's behavior during our visit, but it felt like they were. And they obviously knew that they looked like they were, since they so obviously changed the topic and manner in which they were speaking, and then abruptly ended the conversation. And as a nurse, believe me I get it. We all need to vent after a difficult assignment. But as the parent of a disabled child, it stings. I've come to expect this kind of behavior from average people when we're out and about, but in a professional/medical setting I expect better. It caught me off guard. We will probably continue to come here, because we have had mostly good experiences and I know everyone has an off day. It's also entirely possible that we were not the topic of conversation between these two hygienists, but it certainly seemed like we were, and it continues to bother me. My daughter does the best that she can, and it usually isn't "good enough" by most people's standards, but I am very, very proud of her and her progress. Maybe save the personal conversations about your patients for when they've left for the day.

UPDATE (July 1, 2026): Retaliation & Patient Abandonment…read more Since my last review, I have: Filed with the Dental Board: I submitted a formal consumer complaint regarding Dr. Yuyaobilly Chai's and Dr Winston Lin's unethical care sequencing and the office's predatory billing practices. Triggered an Investigation: An active investigation is now officially open with the state regulatory board and insurance compliance teams. Faced Office Retaliation: Instead of addressing the administrative failures, the office retaliated immediately. I received an Express Mail letter from the clinic officially terminating the doctor-patient relationship and firing my minor children as patients. Suffered Financial Harm: Because they abruptly canceled my daughter's scheduled oral surgery and withheld necessary medical referrals, I am now forced to pay out-of-pocket to urgently find a new dental office and restart her care. This corporate contract machine would rather completely abandon minor patients than operate with professional honesty. The certified paper trail of their retaliation has been forwarded to the state board.

Also, we love Dr. Kevin! He is friendly, funny and professional. I feel like he cares and can relate as another good human being. When my boys were little, they love the video games and playroom while we wait. This place is really created for kids. From playroom to watching the ceiling TV during the cleaning and goodie bag with balloons when you leave. It is all great! Because they are great and popular, scheduling can be difficult.

Instead, after shaving between his front teeth, the orthodontist told us he needed another six weeks of treatment because of the angle of his teeth and to fully close the gap. I don't have an issue with doing what's best for my son if more treatment was needed. My issue is that the decision was made without talking to me first. Extending treatment by six weeks is a significant change, and I would have appreciated being told the reason and given the opportunity to ask questions before the procedure was done. The staff has always been friendly, but I hope the office improves communication with parents when treatment plans change unexpectedly.

When I later received a phone call, I thought it was a reminder, but instead I was told that I had "missed" an appointment. I explained that I never received any reminders. During that same call, I was informed that my other son's Monday appointment had been moved without my consent because it was supposedly not confirmed--despite me confirming it previously. I asked to speak with a manager and was told no manager was available. I then asked for a complaint number or another way to escalate the issue and was told there was none. The lack of accountability and the rude tone during this interaction were extremely disappointing. To make matters worse, I am currently caring for a child with sickle cell disease who was recently hospitalized, and I had just spent the entire night in the emergency room with my oldest son. Being treated with such disregard during an already stressful time was unacceptable. This experience shows a lack of care and value for families and patients. Because of this, I will be moving all of my children's dental care elsewhere.

I'm a big baby and for some reason, dental was my least favorite place to go. ;) I have found Dr. Leo Townsend, DDS to be very professional and gentle! All of his staff are knowledgeable and friendly as well. The entire staff works as a team and are like family. I have my teeth cleaning and exams done regularly. From time to time, I am embarrassed to say they find those pesky little cavities!! My insurance covers most of it and I am out of pocket for a few dollars. Now, when they find something forming with their high tech gadgets, I do not wait. When you wait, and after time it becomes an emergency, that's when more work is needed. This office offers much more services than I've used. There's implant restorations, Invisalign invisible braces, pediatric dentistry, and more. The office is very serene and sterile. They are a family dentistry practice, so they serve all ages, and I guess the previous dentist saw mostly, if not, all, children. The dentist was not available on the day I originally scheduled for, but they rescheduled me for the weekend which was actually more convenient for me! There was a bit of a hiccup when I got there because one of the receptionists didn't know I was a new patient and just had me sit down to wait for my appointment without having me fill out any sort of paperwork, so when one of the hygienists realized this, I finally got the paperwork, which caused a bit of a delay in me getting my appointment. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth was very thorough and funny. I hadn't been to a dental office where they had tv screens in each of the rooms to watch tv while you get your teeth cleaned, so that was cool to see. I didn't really care to pick out a show, so they played whatever the previous patient was watching. The dentist was really nice and thorough in her explanations for work up of a condition I discussed with her. She apologized for running late, but it was really no big deal. I had other dentists who would dismiss me or take little time to explain their thought process so I really enjoyed that she took her time. Overall, I would recommend this dental practice!

Took me me a year to write this negative review, because I've found a decent children dental place that treats my daughter like a human being. Truly appreciate the level care of the new place and still have seconded trauma from this Dr. Janice Work. We were in the waiting room, and my daughter saw a kid coming out bursting in tears crying, she got REALLY nervous and scared, she whined and complained she wanted to leave now. Then we got out the waiting room and they called us, my daughter suffered from the PAIN, even I could even feel it. Our doctor, she was very OLD, and she added the numbing and turned around, she pulled off ALL three teeth right off without waiting for the numbing to kick in, she pulled off the teeth, which left my daughter in horror. My daughter cried while she pulled off the teeth, and I watched her suffer, knowing that i'll never come back to this horrible place ever again. Half way going home, she stop crying, I asked why she stopped crying and she said that she couldn't feel her lips anymore. The numbing JUST kicked in, the horrible doctor we had should have waited, she barely even cared she was crying in pain. Few weeks later, there was a bubble on her gums, maybe she placed something wrong which left an infection or something. This started her trauma of going to dentist, even if it is just a check up. I don't recommend going to this horrifying place, go somewhere else better than this torture chamber. Highly not recommended! Go some where else that treat your kids with care.

I just left my son's appointment feeling so happy! My son is extremely anxious about going to the…read moredentist--so much so that I've had to reschedule his visits multiple times. Somehow, we finally made it in, and it turned out to be the best experience. Despite being terribly nervous--he was even shaking--the dental hygienist, Graycie, greeted my son with a warm smile and immediately put him at ease. I explained that he struggles with anxiety, and she truly worked her magic. She made him feel comfortable and safe, allowing him to ask questions without ever feeling rushed. Graycie explained every instrument she was going to use, the sounds they would make, and what he could expect throughout the visit. She even gave him a mirror so he could watch what she was doing if he wanted. I am really trying to build positive experiences for him, as dental visits in the past have not been easy--and this one made such a difference. If you have an anxious child, I highly recommend asking for Graycie. She is absolutely amazing. Not everyone is meant to work with children, especially in the medical field, and she truly is a gem. Thank God she was there to help my son get through today! Also, the office staff were incredibly friendly, the office was very clean, and overall it was an A+ experience.

They have you physically restrain your child, so that automatically puts them on edge and mine cried the entire time. (Of course resulted in being traumatized during future dentist visits.) Additionally, they didn't automatically give us a toothbrush/toothpaste bag after our most recent visit; it's standard for any child (or adult) after going to the dentist, so I thought this was odd. I asked about it and then had to wait while they figured out if my kid should get one. (Two stars because the first Dentist we saw at this location wasn't as bad as the second Dentist.) If your child is old enough to just hold still, they'll probably be fine. However, the Dentist my child has seen recently doesn't seem to be good with toddlers or understand how to interact with them.
