Mehmood Fatehali Manji DDS is a straight shooter. I asked him to fill in a cracked tooth and he advised that the filling would fall off within weeks due to the geometry of the crack. Also since there isn't any pain from the tooth and that it's functioning well, there isn't a need for filling it. He also advised me of some other options but did not recommend them. On my second visit, I left the office on a hurry and we both forgot to take care of the cleaning. Dr. Manji ran out to the parking lot to get me back on the chair. I went to this dentist for several years, then noticed the listing of payments from me and my insurance was weird. He also never found much wrong. A few months later my insurance dropped him and sent me elsewhere. My new dentist (I saw 2 different ones to make sure) found that I have several cavities, and need some caps before it gets bad enough to need tunneling. My first time ever attending Grove Dental Group I absolutely loved it! Dr. Manji is honest and right to the point doesn't waste time in telling me what I needed on my teeth. My only problem at that first appointment was I was 7 months pregnant and couldn't get anything done besides a cleaning. That was in 2013 My next appoint I made was in 2015 and again I was 8 months pregnant and couldn't get anything done but the cleaning. Dr. Manji and I talked about a Crown and several Fillings that I needed, Dr. Manji pointed out that my case wasn't urgent and I could probably wait awhile especially since I was pregnant again. I also asked if he would have my almost 2 year old checked and he said that they don't take children under three. I went home and talked it over with my husband and we agreed to try to get it done after the baby. Of course things don't go as planned and the money we saved had to be used for a more urgent need. My teeth weren't hurting so I didn't think anything of it. So here is the kicker, I went to Dr. Manji just a few weeks ago I had a 9 a.m. appointment and took my almost four year old daughter with me. The receptionist kindly told me that Dr. Manji didn't see children, and I was upset. Two years ago I was told he took children three and up, the receptionist agreed that was true, but that the Dr. prefers not to take children. I asked to speak to the Dr. My daughter and I were finally called in at 9:35 and Dr. Manji said he wouldn't see my daughter. Ok no problem, but why what is the difference between her teeth and mine. If anything she would be easier with less problems. But he said I would comply and she probably wouldn't. Understood he didn't have the patience. We talked for a bit and he critiqued my parenting a bit of not taking her to a specialist. I was disappointed, but agreed and asked if he could still see me since I had made an appointment for both and he had us wait so long. Dr. Manji agreed and sent me to the x-ray room, where he comes in and pretty much is annoyed. He looks at my file and says, "What are you doing here? I have in my files that you have been here twice before and have done nothing about your teeth! Yes you had babies, but that shouldn't stop you from doing what you need done." I told him that he had said it wasn't urgent the money we saved was used on something more urgent and he cuts in and says,"I understand your husband holds the bank, but if my wife needed something I would get for her." He insulted my husband's care for me! My husband and I had agreed that my teeth could wait especially since Dr. M told me himself that it wasn't urgent. Dr. M says, "I don't need to see you, nothing has changed you are not dancing with me." So he was telling me that my teeth are the same after two years that they can't get better or worse because I didn't do anything about them? What?! He kicked me out, didn't apologize for not keeping his end of the appointment. We didn't raise our voices, I kindly thanked him for his honesty and left. I was really bummed! I now am looking for another dentist that likes children and isn't so narrow minded on life. read more

Be wary. This company likes to add on "irrigation" and services not included under your plans benefits.Cost is not discussed until AFTER the procedure is done. Then You are advised there isnt even a medical code for their $80 mouth wash, they just feel it is a deeper cleaning than normal. They will be sure to maximize your plan's highest cost, even at your expense! read more

My experience there with the staff was good. The Dentist I did not like. The three times I would go in he would lecture me on parenting skills in front of his staff! And he would go on and on and I would be standing there like really, I come to get my kids teeth taken care of not to get lectured. So on my third visit with my 5 year old son, he kicked me out of the exam room by raising his voice at me and then followed me to the lobby and told me I needed to learn better organization because I did not want my son to get his filling done that same day because I was gonna work that afternoon. Really Pyscho?! Out of respect I didn't tell him off but I will not be going back!!! I did notice that he did not act that way with his elderly patients. By the way I am a married parent who pays for insurance with a 8th grader with 3.5 gpa, and a sixth grader with president OBAMA'S award for advanced grades, and a sweet heart for a son. I've been a patient for Dr. Manji's for many years now. On more than one occasion it has been for a dental emergency. His staff are so helpful and squeeze me in even when every exam room is full. That's just one of the reasons I keep coming back. The other reason is because Dr. Manji is just an all around awesome person and dentist. He floors me by how he remembers me and my interests even after not seeing me for a year, which shows that he genuinely cares about his patients. He is also very in tuned with how I am feeling while he works on me. If I give the subtlest flitch he stops and asks if I'm doing okay or want more pain meds. I've gone to MD who didn't even bother to ask that. In my humble opinion if you are looking for a caring, dedicated dentist then Dr. Manji is your man. I tell all of my friends and family about him and now I've moved on to strangers. read more

Let me start by saying that I have not seen this dentist. We recently changed insurance and this is one of the offices assigned to our plan. I called to make an appointment today (several times) and unfortunately no one answers the phone. They don't even have a voice message to let you know you have reached a dental office??!! Seems very unprofessional and I felt uncomfortable leaving a message on a random machine. I also looked at the reviews and it seems they don't like to see kids, so we will not be visiting this dentist!! read more

I had an appointment today August 6, 2014 and Mehmood Manji got upset because I informed him that the tooth he was indicating I was there for was not correct and informed him of the correct tooth. At that point he got upset and told me it was my responsibility to get the information to him and not the other dental office. I informed him that the dental office indicated they would notify his office, he got to the point where he shoved the correspondence in my face from the hygienst not the dentist and told me to read what it said, which spoke of tooth he was speaking about and I told him I'm only telling you what they told me at my last appointment concerning the root canal. At that point, he insisted that I leave his office and that I find another dentist since I feel he isn't good enough and our relationship as it stands is over. Now, I'm upset to the point of tears and telling him I'm the patient , I have nothing to do with the correspondence or lack of between dental offices and indicated to him that he was being very very very rude, he then replies that he will note that he was very very very rude. After this ordeal, I will never refer anybody to this office - his usually friendly staff was quiet and withdrawn from the minute I walked in the door at 8am. I'm filing a consumer complaint with the Dental Board of California/State of California Department of Consumer Affairs. He is in volation of Business & Professional Code Section 325-326 that states : It shall be the duty of the director to receive complaints from consumers concerning a. unfair or deceptive acts or practices. My kids just had an appointment not too long ago and I must say the dr and staff are great! the dr is really patient with them and even made my daughter laugh in which i was really surprised because she was a nervous mess before we got there. I would not recommend this office. It started out when I tried to schedule an appointment they would not schedule an appointment until I called my insurance and have them fax them something saying our family was eligible. First off I don't understand why he couldn't call and verify eligibility I mean that's a receptionist or office does . When I called my insurance they even said that was strange I was calling for eligibility instead of the actual office. Anyways that delayed treatment for almost 2 weeks. When we did go in my daughter who is 10 got her xrays first ,when he came in the room right away he said she needs to see a Specialist Orthodontist to discuss braces. ???? WHAT?? she still has baby teeth and her teeth are not even crooked they are straight. He spent less than 5 minutes with us. I was really confused . Then My husband went in and he told him he needed a root canal and to follow up with the specialist. Again spent less than 5 minutes with him as well. ...Well the following week my other son had appointment with grove dental, I call to confirm my sons upcoming appointment with them and the receptionist says" oh yeah you and the whole family have been dropped from this dentist." He said that Dr. did not want to treat my husband because he has diabetes. ??? Ive never heard of a dentist not wanting to treat a patient because of diabetes. I proceeded to tell him that my husband just saw his family physician the previous day and I have proof and is currently on diabetes medication and its under control . he said "too late, the doctor wants your whole family transferred out of the office." I said if thats the reason because my husband has diabetes then why are you transferring my whole family.?? my kids dont have diabetes?He had no answer. I was in shock at the treatment we were getting. I feel that's just an excuse that my husband has diabetes and he doesn't want to treat patients with diabetes. The thing that bothers me is They didn't bother to call to see if my husband was currently seeing his doctor for his diabetes nothing! they just kicked us off. and to top it off I would of showed up for my sons appointment and would of been turned away. I mean what kind of communication is that. I feel the dr does not truly care for his patients or he would of communicated better as to why there was an issue with treating patients with diabetes. I feel like this doctor is discriminating .. Either way I wouldn't want a dentist that doesn't truly care for their patients health, instead they toss them out like garbage and order a bunch of unnecessary stuff its just Bad business!!! read more
