We initially requested a quote from Steve to build a retaining wall for a pool we were designing. Quickly upon arrival, Steve advised he could build the wall, but noted the size of the rest of our yard and asked if we'd mind if his designer put together some ideas which would make the build more cohesive and appealing. Since we were in the early stages of planning, we were open to this, and were presented with a beautiful plan which utilized almost the entire yard space while also incorporating the originally-requested wall to accommodate the pool. Early in the project, after noticing we were having a hard time receiving communications and updates from our pool contractor regarding timing/permits/additional costs, Steve introduced us to a more communicative and transparent pool builder who ultimately built our gorgeous pool. Steve was patient and open in working with the pool contractor, and was communicative with us about any potential issues or delays as they were encountered. When an issue was encountered, Steve was always prepared with not only a reasonable explanation (i.e. natural impediment, cost), but also multiple viable options for remedy. Steve's workers were impressively punctual, clean, respectful, hard working, and just very pleasant. Immediately after the project was completed, Steve remained in close contact for months, making frequent visits to make sure the plants were taking, and ensuring we hadn't experienced any issues while actively using our new backyard. While our project was completed nearly a year ago, we recently reached out to Steve with a question about our built-in BBQ island after heavy rains impacted the electrical outlets. Steve was at our home the next morning and was able to quickly fix the issue. We are still so happy with everything Steve and his crew were able to create in our yard, and would highly recommend his services to anyone looking.

Unpleasant & unprofessional experience over a 4-month, $100K+ job. The *crew* (the guys actually…read moredoing the work) did a decent job overall, which is the only reason I'm rating 2 stars, but the rest of our time working with Patty and Andie was nothing but awful stress and I would strongly suggest that you hire someone else. They rolled out the red carpet to charm us and get us under contract, and then were treated as last priority. We did everything we could think of to improve communication with them, but they just didn't seem to care about anything other than getting the job done as quickly and cheaply as possible so that they could get paid. Patty and Andie flat-out lied to us many times over the course of our project. The first and biggest lie from Patty was that she would be on the job site every day to make sure things were going along well and make sure our questions were answered. She's repeated this lie in social media videos. After we got under contract, she immediately went on a month-long vacation w/out telling us, leaving us confused as the crew started demolition on our property. When she got back, she showed up at best twice a month to film instagram selfies. Andie said she would be at the site every other day, which was laughable. It's not clear to me what was keeping them so busy, but clearly we were not a priority. There was zero attention to detail. They mis-measured constantly. Ordered too many materials and charged us for their mistake. Then they ordered too little material for our deck which caused weeks of delays, and an inconsistent color in the planks. They constantly would put things into the ground in the wrong location and I'd have to go ask them to move it. They threw away an entire cord of firewood that I had planned to burn, and it was like pulling teeth just getting them to just apologize for it. We went out of our way to be understanding and easy to work with, and that respect was never returned. The crew left trash everywhere on our property throughout the project. They damaged our stucco and never repaired it (even after I called them out on it). And when the project was complete, not only was there trash all over our property, but Patty just texted us with "... we are done with your project. Let me know if you have any questions." That was followed by a text asking for the last payment. Not a single "thank you". Not a single "nice working with you". Not a single "are you happy with everything?". Landscaping can be very expensive and stressful. Do yourself a favor and spend your hard-earned money with someone that will treat you and your project with the respect that it deserves.

"It's an Albert Einstein watch. Not only does it tell you what time it is, it tells you why." I'm going to tell you how great IEED is, and then I'm going to tell you why. But I'm no Einstein. I'm just a very satisfied customer. We bought a house in Carlsbad. We didn't care for the landscaping. So we looked around for a company that could work with us to re-landscape our new home. My wife found IEED, and they came over to talk to us. By the time our initial interview was done, we had decided we wanted them to do the job. They gave us an estimate and a proposal. We loved it. We signed the contract and they did the work. We are very happy. It was a huge job. We wanted old vegetation taken out and new installed. We wanted people to be able to see the house from the street, and we didn't want a thicket of overgrown greenery blocking views in either direction. In IEED's proposal, they pointed out that one of the reasons the existing landscape was that way was that everything was too sloping, too slanted. They proposed to terrace the property, so that it was a series of flat spaces held up by retaining walls, with stairsteps joining them. We would never have thought of this, but it's done now and we love it. The people are great, and design is great, and we are really looking forward to just being in it. OK, why are they great? Because the owner/ringleader/boss, Patricia, has it all in one brain. She's an artist, a visionary, a project manager, a team leader, and a source of endless positive energy. And she buys donuts for her hard-working crew. Her young sidekick/assistant, Andrea, shows signs of being every bit as good. There's no need for the design department to have meetings with the construction department because it's all the same person. The construction manager doesn't have to say to the designer "I don't think that will be possible" because the construction manager *is* the designer. Lots of designers try to manage construction, and lots of construction managers try to design. Patricia Jones of IEED actually succeeds. Brilliantly. Half a dozen times while I was watching the crew do the work, I thought "Wow! These people are so skilled, so talented!". It's not just the boss that's great--it's the whole company. I feel a certain obligation to say something that's not effusively positive, so I'll say that I find the name of the company to be so long and preposterous I can't bring myself to say it out loud.

We'd recently completed a large interior renovation that was extremely challenging and refused to have that kind of experience again. So she sent out Jeff from SDLC and it was night and day difference. He actually listened to what we wanted. I knew what pavers I wanted and he was able to procure them easily. No fight about even having pavers installed like the previous contractor who was trying to force us into DG. He actually measured our yard. He gave us lots of suggestions that we implemented. He even came up with a better irrigation plan that involved my husband renting a jackhammer to bust up a concrete walkway so we could install the new system. Best decision and worth all the labor we did. There were a few bumps and some miscommunication but overall, based on our previous experiences with contractors, this was a DREAM. The issues were resolved quickly with zero argument or pushback. It felt surreal, honestly! The customer service line answered the phone and called us back if we left a message. Very responsive. The price on the very detailed quote was $7k less than the other guy, included everything we wanted and the pricing all made sense and seemed reasonable. The guys showed up every day on time, worked hard and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Octavio is some sort of paver genius. It was amazing to watch him work. I was thoroughly impressed. We did end up having to move some plants because they weren't planted evenly spaced (even though we placed everything exactly). Annoying, so just be sure you're there on digging/ planting day to make sure the holes are exactly where you want them. But overall, my husband and I didn't think having to move a few plants/ dig new holes was a major issue. They made sure to ask me about the trees/ palm to ensure they were exactly where I wanted. It was the smaller plants that got a little wonky. It's been 6 months and everything in our yard is thriving and we are SO happy with our decision to use SDLC. The hurricane came through and I was a bit worried about the water runoff, but they sloped the yard exactly the way we wanted and we had zero issues.
