I worked at Grubb's Pharmacy NE of DC full-time and working with the staff will get you through the day! The staff makes your time (which will be short) at grubbs worth it. If it wasn't for them, your time at grubbs would be pure hell. Supervisors have been there too long, they're all lazy and they take all the employees ideas and pass them to the owner, Dr. Mike Kim, has if it were their own. The owner needs to ask his employees about what's going on under his nose that his Managers are doing and have done. His business would do a lot better if he would just listen to the ideas his staff have. They might not be supervisors but when I was working there, they had some really great ideas, I noticed the owner used one idea I know for a fact it was one of the employees but it was brought to the staff as if one of the managers thought of the idea. This is advice to the OWNER. Talk to your staff without the managers. THE MANAGERS are the reasons you're loosing money, you need new ideas and your employees actually do the work on a daily basis, NOT the supervisors. PLEASE TALK TO YOUR STAFF!!! My experience with Grubbs wasn't great, my doctor ordered me support hosiery I was sent shin socks. I measured my ankles,legs and under knee I thought correctly. But was sent socks instead. This was April 2019 I would love to exchange them. read more

This isn't a typical review but the time I spent at Grubb's was very enjoyable. I am a pharmacy student and read about this store in one of my classes. I was just up the road so I decided to stop in. I was greeted by a really kind guy whom I chatted with and ordered ice cream. Super nice guy and really personable. I told him my story about how I found out about the place and I felt the need to come by. We spoke for a few more minutes and I took a look around and then left. If I lived in DC I would patronize this establishment for sure! Neat historic place. read more

Zero stars. I have been going here because it's close to my office, but I'll never go again and wouldn't recommend it. The customer service is nonexistent and they never have my order ready, even after I'm told it is ready for pickup. Last time I was there, I asked the woman working when the other half of my prescription would be ready for pick up and she just turned and walked to the back without giving me an answer. Rude. Don't bother calling either, nobody will answer the phone. You're better off going literally anywhere else. read more

I love this pharmacy. Small local business, mostly Black employees who deliver great customer service. They have online refills and delivery service. Unlike CVS, pharmacists give you attention and good information when you have questions. And, they have my hard-to-fill script in stock. read more

The decor is very charming, and the building has character. But I waited 1 hr to fill a prescription (standard Ibuprofen) on a slow Mon morning. There were at least 7 employees on duty, so I can't understand why it took so long. No one was very friendly either. Though Morton's down the street (at 8th and Capitol) has seen better days, their staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and genuine. read more

Only giving two stars because the first lady who helped me was very sweet. Came to pick up my RX at 1pm (was told it would be ready by noon). Employee takes my ID and asks my last name and DOB while holding it (okay?). Searches. Informs me I'm not in the system. Asks the name of the employee I dealt with last night. I don't know, which annoys her. She asks again and, of course, I still don't know. She sighs heavily and walks to the back for about five minutes. Comes back to inform me they have one but not the other. I dropped them off at the same time? Calls back to another employee to bring out my bc and tells me I'll have to call my doctor and come back another time for the other. So unprofessional. Never again. read more

This place has a horrible uninviting stench that will hit you in the nose as soon as you walk in! They are extremely slow! The ladies behind the medical supply counter are very unprofessional. Making personal calls and Sligh remarks after putting customers on hold that have called in to ask questions. That's really sad! I hope my medication doesn't smell bad! read more

Grubbs has improved! And given the fact that I gave them a terrible review I will tell you why they've improved in my opinion. The delivery service was terrible. It's now very dependable. If I'm told via the app I'm going to get a delivery on Thursday. My prescription arrives on Thursday as promised. If I ask that they call just before they arrive, as a courtesy they will call me. If I make a complaint I'm heard and I then gradually see improvements. It's not overnight but efforts are made and actions are being taken to improve customer service. The prescription customer service ladies and gentleman are a lot better. Bringing in new blood really helped to mix things up in a good way. Last thing....Grubbs has an app and texting capabilities both of which I use and love. You get quick response and you don't have to sit on the telephone forever trying to reach someone to take care of your needs. Great improvements made...keep it up! read more

As an independent Rx owner (in another state) I am appalled. My daughter was the only patron in store and it pained them to interact with her. 5 visible employees and it took close to 20 minutes to fill 1 prescription for her and all her info is on file. No explanation. Also it was a new Rx and apparently they are exempt from the law that requires the RPh to counsel on new prescriptions. Amazed they are still in business. No one cared at all. If it had not been something needed right away I would have taken the Rx home and mailed it to her. Each state has a board of pharmacy to which a complaint can be submitted . I am unfamiliar with who governs pharmacies in DC but since she is an attorney I will be sure she finds a way to make a formal complaint. read more

Super surprised by some of these reviews. Having witnessed some of the rude customers, I applaud the staff for keeping their cool and trying to please us customers; I watched as one customer in line was so rude and condescending to an employee. I will admit that the changed they've made over the last few months are for the better. I've tried the CVS' in the area and trust me when I say, the service is way better here. Grubb's has the hard to find items and I like the charm of the older pharmacy. Grubb's was great with my elderly mom in working with her insurance to get the medication to us. It took some time but at least they worked with us and didn't just pass us off to the insurance company, they did the leg work. Thanks for caring. read more

I would give this place zero stars if it were an option. Worst customer service. After my physician could not get through to anyone over the phone here, I called four times, waited on the line several minutes each time, mentioned to a member of the staff that I only needed someone to check if a product I was in urgent need of was available. I was instead transferred to a voicemail box twice, and then hung up on a third time. The last time I called, I was received with rude, argumentative behavior, instead of an apology or explanation. I hope this place loses a lot of business and is forced to shut down. It's worth going someplace farther instead of enduring the stress of dealing with the carelessness and incompetence of this place. read more

The line to pick up prescriptions seems to be moving along better these days -- I'll often see two clerks handling customers at once. They have an app for smartphones that is handy for requesting refills. Also, if you give them your cell phone number and service provider they will text you when it is ready -- very convenient. read more

I went there today to fill a prescription, waited in line for 10 min just to hand them my slip, the lady told me they needed to call the dr to verify, at that point my dr was already closed. A tech came to the front & said they didn't need to verify and told me to go sit down & wait. Well I did for over 40 mins, finally went back to the front but had to wait in line again for another 10 mins to see what was taking so long. Finally they said they can't fill my prescription because they need to talk to my dr. I wouldn't even give this place one star, will never go back!!!!! read more

This place is incompetent. I'm amazed they keep their license. They delivered drugs late, not at all, twice, in the wrong amounts, at 2 am when they were supposed to arrive before 9 the previous night, and after the patient had already died. The hospice (which was otherwise excellent) was tied into their service and so we witnessed Grubbs' incompetence multiple times over several days - it wasn't an isolated incident. This place has miserable customer service for anything that isn't an in person order. Phone and online channel ordering is terrible and more than once they have "lost" my Rx causing me to waste at least a half hour visiting in person, appealing for my order and waiting cause it wasn't ready. The most recent case: I ordered online in AM Monday and got a confirmation email. They claim it will be same day delivery but could take 48 hours. It is now Thursday morning and I will be late for work because ( you guessed it) I had to wait for them to start my order from scratch. Unacceptable. I went 2 days without my medication thanks to this lousy customer service. I need to find another componding pharmacy and when I do I will gladly leave this place behind. Because I believe in small neighborhood businesses, I go a loooong way, past many Big pharmacies, to patronize this pharmacy. I Love the fact that you can order your prescriptions on line, and know by text when it's available. And that for $4.00, it will be delivered to my house. If I have a problem, I can send it by e-mail and it's answered promptly. Neighborhood businesses care about our community, and are more likely to invest in our activities. Yeah, Grubb! read more

I go to Grubb's because it is in my neighborhood and convenient, but every time I have to get a prescription filled I wonder why I continue to use them. I have had bad luck on 90% of the prescriptions filled at Grubb's, from consistently not having enough of a particular medicine, to having to wait at least an hour for a medicine even though I ordered it the day before and called ahead to make sure that it was ready. Sometimes the prescription is lost, sometimes the pharmacy itself makes a mistake or overlooks the request for prescription. When I talked to a pharmacist friend about some of the issues that I had at Grubb's he was appalled, especially when i explained to him how many people are working behind the counter there! This pharmacy may seem convenient to people who live on the hill but it seems to just be a time suck. read more

I am currently standing here, it's been about 40 minutes since I walked in the door. The lady at the register went back and forth about 10 times trying to find my prescription, couldn't, then I was told to sit down while they "quickly" get it ready. In five more minutes I will walk out and go to CVS like I should have done in the first place. The place is also tiny and just generally feels unclean and unpleasant. read more

Horrible experience with Grubbs today. There was an issue with my prescription, so I asked to speak to a pharmacist to try and clear things up. She was so absolutely rude and inconsiderate in explaining the issues to me and went on to actually accuse me of different ridiculous wrongdoings. I dropped off THREE RX and asked them to call me when it would be ready for pick up.. Few days later still nothing from them. I stopped by and asked if it was ready? They couldn't even find my THREEEEE RX! They were not even processed! It was really frustrated because meds were important for my sons school. They asked me to call DR.. What.... My dr was sweet and request new meds. I stopped there again one day later.. Not even ready either. Should be ready in shortly.. Then they said there is one which is not in stock! Come on.....worse thing that their front clerk staff were not friendly!me as working in a retail store knows how important customers is! They just lost a customer! I'm switching pharmacy! Grubbs! What happened?!?!? I used to love this place since I prefer not to use the big chain stores if possible. And for the past four years I had no complaints about this Grubbs. Now, for the past MONTH I have been trying to get a fairly standard prescription refilled there. (Luckily this was just a back-up prescription, otherwise I would have given up weeks ago). They don't have it in; it will be in next week; they can't find it; someone will call me back, etc. etc. I have walked in; called repeatedly; left messages - nothing works. Today, even the answering service asked me if I had a customer service complaint when I (politely) asked to speak to a manager but wouldn't transfer me to a live person. One star is one star too many for this place. read more

Grubbs is terrific. I have been to a number of specialty pharmacies in the past couple years, and none comes close to delivering the service of Grubbs. The staff is extremely helpful and efficient. They take the time to answer questions, and respond quickly to messages. They even called a partner pharmacy to look for a better price for me on something they didnt have a discount on. They have very flexible delivery times. I called today at 3:15, and they made plans to have my medicine delivered to my home between 6:00 (when I arrive home) and 7:30 tonight (when I need to take my medication.) My family would like to use Grubbs to encourage the use of independent, local establishments, but you go to a place like that for better service. We have received horrible service at Grubbs several times. The last straw was having to wait 5 days to get medicine for my children who have been in significant pain with acid reflux. The 5 day wait included missing promised times for delivery TWICE and absolutely no effort to speed up the process or get help for our children sooner. I will never go there again. read more
