I LOVE Grubbs. They are so great with vaccines. Especially with kids. We go there at least once a year for shots.

Not willing to fill my Rx without purchasing $30 of extra merchandise that I did not need and wasn't in my budget. This system is messed up, for pharmacies and customers but getting less than 24 hours notice that I needed to have my Rx switched to a new business isn't best practice for customer satisfaction or the health of the patient either. Maybe if they sold things I need (milk, produce, peanut butter...) I could do the $30... but I don't need $30 of lozenges and Knick knacks. Side note: I really hope we vote in some people in that will fix the mess insurance companies, big pharmacies like CVS, and others have made of our medical system. read more

Not courteous to its customers!They send you text. Don't want you to inquire or respond to the text. They are charging you for your prescriptions rather than give them to you as before saying that the pharmaceutical companies are not reimbursing them enough money therefore, a lot of prescriptions are required to be transferred to other stores. They won't forward the prescriptions themselves. They'll make you get a new prescription from your medical doctor totally unacceptable unprofessional and unnecessary. read more

They had the latest COVID booster shot in stock, and it was easy to reserve a time slot online using their well-designed website. I never thought I would leave a review for a pharmacy, but I had a fantastic experience at Grubb's. I had a tricky prescription to fulfill and had gone to a bunch of other pharmacies who were unhelpful, but Grubb's came through and were friendly and prompt in doing so. Plus, they've got a big selection of cool products in store--organic toiletries, local gifts, etc. Not to mention, I feel good supporting a small independent pharmacy instead of one of the big chains. This pharmacy was recommended by my son's pediatrician to get the yellow fever vaccine for a trip abroad. I scheduled the appointment several weeks ago. Today we drove 35 minutes to the pharmacy and when we arrived we were told that they actually didn't have the vaccine in stock. They did however take the time to text me this morning to let me know how much the vaccine would cost. Colossal waste of our time. read more

We wanted to patronize this local business but can't anymore after they filled my toddler's liquid medication prescription with a bottle that was NOT CHILD PROOF (as confirmed by the pediatrician - who was shocked the cap could easily be pulled off). My child grabbed the bag on the way home and chugged it. Grubbs put the blame on the generic supplier. While we understand they use the bottle provided, how can you use a supplier that clearly provides cheaper bottles that do NOT provide the required protection? They said they'd tell families but don't seem inclined to fix the problem. It is disappointing our scary experience did not urge them to seek a safe option with all of the families on the Hill that go here. read more

Easy to sign up online, we got a next-day appointment for our five-year-old's booster shot. Check-in was easy and the wait short. The nurse was kind and my daughter said the shot didn't even hurt! I consider Grubb's to be the anti-CVS. At CVS, I used get impersonal service from overworked employees, and I inevitably felt stressed whenever filling a prescription. At Grubb's, I get friendly and personalized service. If I ever have a question about a medication or service, I can text Grubb's and hear back quickly from an actual human being, rather than some automated system. At this point, I use Grubb's for all my prescriptions and vaccinations and I'm thankful to have them in my neighborhood. Highly recommended. read more

I am surprised at the low ratings given for Grubbs. I have used them for more than 10 years and without fail I have found their staff kind, efficient and professional. They work with me to make sure I get the lowest cost on my medications and do local deliveries for just $5. They have a wide selection of medical equipment, products and support services. There is a nice calm garden out front and ramp for wheelchairs and an automatically opening door. Places to sit on the inside. read more

Absolutely horrendous customer service. I had to spend several days chasing them down to get them to fill the prescription that my doctor had sent. At first they claimed they didn't have the order, and then once they found it, they said they had to transfer it to another Grubbs location but made it my problem to keep calling the second location to see if they received it yet. Meanwhile my health condition was getting worse because I didn't have the meds I needed. Also, they only answer the phone about half the time. Took nearly four days of calling back and forth to get my script filled. Stay away from this pharmacy if you can avoid it. read more

Excellent experience in getting a flu shot here the other day. The phones were answered promptly so it was easy to make an appointment. Upon arrival for the shot, I noted that everything looked so clean with safe distancing inside and the staff with masks and shields. Everything was very professional. I was then taken to a separate room for my shot. Could not recommend more highly! read more

Have been a long time Grubb's customer but had an excellent experience recently, after a very frustrating and drawn out situation with my insurance. Two of the staff--Alfredo and Christina--were so, so helpful and spent a lot of time on the phone with the drug maker to get a new drug. It was an ordeal between insurance and the pharma company, but they couldn't have been more helpful in getting it sorted out. Felt like I had someone on my side. Appreciated it so much! read more

In short, this place is a waste of your time. Literally go anywhere else. You'll get better medical care visiting one of their competitors in the district. There are several! As well as a friendly pharmacy in nearby Alexandria (The Neighborhood Pharmacy, for instance who actually answers their phone and doesn't hang up on you! You can even speak to a real, live human!) I've literally spent all day interfacing with the 'team' at Grubb's only to get the runaround. A timeline of events, because you're probably reading this while bored on a Zoom call: +8:30, visited my doctor, had an Rx written, had it faxed over to Grubbs on Capitol Hill. +10:13, called Grubbs to verify they had received the Rx. They promptly answered the phone and then hung up on me. Tried calling back. No answer. +10:16, texted the number listed on their website asking for information on my Rx. +11:49, heard back. They apologized, said the Rx hadn't come in. I texted back, asked for clarification as the way they worded this sounded like they didn't have the medication. After some back and forth it was determined they had the medication, but couldn't find the fax. They asked for my information, including insurance. I sent it along. As well as a scan of the Rx my doctor had provided. +3:17, no response. +3:18, I text back and ask for an update as to when the Rx will be ready now that they have everything they need. +3:51, they respond saying they need my doctor to email or fax the Rx AGAIN. They give me their email address. I ask to verify the fax number too. No response. +3:52 I have my doctor refax the Rx (they don't do email due to PII concerns) +I text again to verify that they received the Rx. +No response. +No confirmation +Nothing. +It's now 5:40pm. They close at 6. I've now wasted a day trying to get this Rx filled and I'm still in pain because I don't have my medication. Things you could do for fun instead of wasting your time with these horrible people: +Clip your toenails +Watch The View +Get some actual work done And in case anyone doubts the veracity of the above, I'm happy to provide timestamped documentation of the above interactions. read more

Worst customer service on the planet. Not just worst customer service for a pharmacy in DC, or a pharmacy period. Just plain old terrible customer service. They may be the oldest pharmacy in DC but it's time for them to close the doors on this sad, pathetic operation. They will never, I repeat NEVER answer the phone. I have often spent over 30 minutes on hold waiting for them to answer the phone. Today, after 42 minutes I finally had to hang up for a conference call. Their total inability to answer the phone is matched by their complete ambivalence towards their customers when you are inside the store. Grubb's went the extra mile for me when I was desperate to get an antibiotic prescription filled and CVS was out of the medicine. I called Grubb's less than 30 minutes before they were closing and they called CVS, got the prescription transferred and filled and THEN stayed open an extra 15 minutes after closing time!!! Don't expect anyone with logic to be working. There is a reason they had to put up a No Cursing and No Yelling sign, because they are so awful everyone curses and yells! They have the worst service in the world. They never complete or follow thru. It's pathetic. I try to support local but I'd switch to Walgreens in a heart beat if they opened next door. read more

Fast service, helpful and mindful employees. They have both simple and complex supplies. The pharmacy is open same hours I believe and they even have a fitting room. That way I could try on my knee brace which came in many sizes and types but the lady was very helpful and quick. I will return if I need anything else :) read more

Great pharmacy on Capitol Hill. Got my flu shot here and it was a nice experience. They accept a lot of insurance plans and the pharmacist was awesome. She was nice, efficient, and I didn't even feel the shot. You can also text the office and they get back to you pretty quickly. Do not trust Grubb's if you need a specific COVID test within a certain time window for travel. The tests returned results later than promised and one member of our party showed up to get a test but was told there was none of that kind left. Paying $200 out of pocket for such service is simply unacceptable. There is a much better (albeit farther) testing site outside Macy's in Arlington that returned the results we needed in 45 minutes, despite having to drive over there after Grubb's failed to do so just hours before our international flight. read more

I really want to love the local neighborhood pharmacy but after five visits I find that I am completely frustrated. Each time I have dropped off my prescriptions there is always someone with a clueless look and blank stare asking me the same questions more than once. One prescription took over a week to fill and each of the five times I've arrived the prescriptions weren't ready. Also watching the front desk staff looking for prescriptions in the alpha ordered system like that is meaningless is also frustrating. (Last name starts with B. Let me look in M). Unfortunately the local CVS is about the same, so cap hill is really lacking in the pharmacy department. read more

The business has been in the same building on Capitol Hill for over 100 years, serving the people of the Hill with quality service that has been good enough to keep it going despite the mega drug stores, Internet, and discount chains all competing for their business. Check out the old picture of the place in the 1800's by the prescription pick-up. The store can fill your prescription needs, all over the counter medications, and medical equipment needs. It's a small place that provides fast service from a friendly staff--none of delays you suffer through at larger pharmacies like CVS. Your prescription IS ALWAYS done when they say it will be done. The staff is more than qualified to answer any questions that might have about your meds or the equipment that they sell. So take a step back in time and enjoy competent, friendly, and fast service for a change. On the side, in the corner of the pharmacy they also serve ice cream cones. This pharmacy is 50/50 with me, meaning, when I can get ahold of someone, they are somewhat OK. What angers me most about this place is that they advertise for customers to use their text line to send them messages and half the time I send the texts, they DO NOT ANSWER. Mark aka POP, is a nice guy but some work needs to done about answering that text line. The only reason I still deal with them is because one of my medications I cannot get filled any place else, but my other meds, I use another pharmacy. Also, if it wasn't for Doretha and John helping me, I wouldn't have given them but one freaking star!! Those two are very nice and helpful. John, of the delivery dept. is very friendly and professional and has always answered the phone when I have called and runs the delivery dept very well!! read more

CVS Pharmacy can't handle mixing compounds, so we use Grubbs on a regular basis. In our medical journey we have had lots of mix-ups and craziness with providers, and endless trouble with insurance, but Grubbs has never been a source of consternation. Typically I call the prescription in, leaving a message on the phone line, and I get a call back shortly thereafter telling me when I can come in to pick it up. I tried the online request form recently, and when I did not hear back from them within a couple hours, I called to find out whether they had received the info -- they hadn't. So I'll stick to the phone. Also, shout out to Ron Thompson (spelling?), who handles the compounds. He is very personable, helpful, knowledgeable and responsive. For example, about a month ago, my mom was in town and left the medication out for the night in our medicine cabinet, not realizing it needed to be refrigerated. When I got in touch with Ron (I will say that I left a message on the regular phone line at the very end of the day and did not get a call back -- while I should have received a call back, I also should have chosen the option to talk to a staff member, not leave a message), he offered to test the pH of the medication to determine its efficacy. Plus, they offer delivery. I have never used the service and have no clue what it costs, but it's great to know it's an option. My only real complaint is that there is usually a wait at the pick-up counter. But not like CVS doesn't occasionally have a wait, either. read more

I worked at Grubb's Pharmacy NE of DC full-time and working with the staff will get you through the day! The staff makes your time (which will be short) at grubbs worth it. If it wasn't for them, your time at grubbs would be pure hell. Supervisors have been there too long, they're all lazy and they take all the employees ideas and pass them to the owner, Dr. Mike Kim, has if it were their own. The owner needs to ask his employees about what's going on under his nose that his Managers are doing and have done. His business would do a lot better if he would just listen to the ideas his staff have. They might not be supervisors but when I was working there, they had some really great ideas, I noticed the owner used one idea I know for a fact it was one of the employees but it was brought to the staff as if one of the managers thought of the idea. This is advice to the OWNER. Talk to your staff without the managers. THE MANAGERS are the reasons you're loosing money, you need new ideas and your employees actually do the work on a daily basis, NOT the supervisors. PLEASE TALK TO YOUR STAFF!!!
