Do not float with GypsyRiver. Tubing exit signs are nowhere to be found. We called about 20 times and were straight up being ignored. We had 2 pregnant women and a diabetic floating with us and they were aware. We called while in the shop to make sure our calls went through, it rang and the woman behind the counter ignored it. All we wanted to know was when to get off to be picked up. We had to go to a random campsite to ask for directions. read more

Horrible service, called the office over 15 times in one day to talk about a shuttle. They were not there on a Friday??? Then they texted me after 9pm after I had been trying to reach them all day. Also they didn't take the trash out for all three days we were there. We were right off the river which we had high expectations but the spot were soooo tight that we could hear the people next to use talking in their rv. Also to walk to the bathroom is the longest walk and an incline as well. The office closes at 6pm on Saturday we showed up at 6:02 and had to wait over 20 min till someone showed up. The showers are timed so max was 3 minutes! We been to other camp sites and this was the worse one: we have had a blast at others but this was boring and lacked just the feel of a river experience. we tried to make best out of it but I give one star. We had our family reunion there this passed weekend, The staff was friendly and the bungalow I rented was nice and clean. The river was nice and refreshing. The bungalows or cottages do not have restrooms but there are really closed to all sleeping quarters. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had camping on the river. They make you pay extra $25 PER TRIP, if you want to actually float the river so be prepared to pay more than you should for a tiny camping spot and to float. We couldn't even use 1 out of 8 camping spots I reserved because it barely even fit an SUV. So we had to give up a non refundable spot because they refused to move the person that was invading the spot we couldn't use. Then we got YELLED at by the OWNER. How absolutely unprofessional. You could have handled everything at a respectful manner and not immediately try to get use removed for a simple question. I'll never come back, and I would suggest a different place to camp because this place is not it. The only person who was helpful was Nicole. They also barely follow their own rules and still allow dogs even tho it states no dogs during a certain time, and saw 4 dogs on the property that were not a service animal. Also the showers at .25 cents for 3 minutes and they let the women's restrooms go without toilet paper all morning on Sunday. They have no fire pits and no grills on site. You have to bring your own. read more

My family and I had an AMAZING time this Memorial Day Weekend at Gypsy River! The staff was super friendly from check in to check out. Our campsite was clean and had water and electricity. Staff came around constantly and asked us if we needed anything. The campsite is so beautiful with options to tent camp, RV, cottages, and bungalows. Bathhouse/restrooms were clean and in such a cute spot. The owners daughter who was running the show this weekend was extremely helpful and kind. We will definitely be coming back and making Gypsy River our go to spot on the River!! read more

We have camped here two summers in a row now. I have NO idea how this place only has 3 stars because we have never had anything but fun and great experiences here. The property is beautiful and at a popular bend in the river. The people who have camped beside us have been nice and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and help us out with whatever we need. There is a small convenience store on property, which is super helpful. Be mindful that not all sites have full sewer hookups but that hasn't been an issue for us staying just a few days with our gray tank filling. And if it were there is a full bath house in the middle of the property. The atmosphere is a lot like an adult summer camp- in my experience campers have been late to bed and early to rise; and like to have a lot fun. It can get a bit rowdy. So I would not bring my kids, but there have been a few there the last two summers. The hill going to and from river front can be steep so be mindful if anyone in your party has physical limitations. Otherwise, definitely go, be easy going, and just let it go and have a great time! read more

When you pay money to stay at a 'resort' you expect a little R&R, but all we got was accosted by the owners and harassed by the staff. There are so many beautiful places that are extremely in need of customers post COVID, Gypsy River Resort does not deserve any business. Spent a weekend here in our RV during the summer season. The staff was relatively helpful, but they did not go out of their way. The site was clean but pretty cramped. Only water and electricity hookups were located at site. That was unexpected. The actual property is lovely, with large trees and a scenic waterfront. Since our stay was during the busy summer season, the river and the resort property was very loud and crowded. The resort played country music and occasional classic rock on a large PA system for most of the day and into the evening. If you happen to have similar musical tastes to you might be content. I don't think we will return, nor would I enthusiastically recommend this as a place to stay for people looking to chill by the river. read more

Went to Gypsy River Resort for a girls weekend. We found the bungalow picture on their Instagram and Facebook and fell in love! Were were all super excited! We get there and they didn't even have one of the 4 person "bungalows" ready and the "bungalows" were not even remotely close to what they were advertising. The beds were literally in wood pallets. We rented both of the 4 person bungalows. They only had 2 of the 2 person bungalows available and said we could have the 2-2 person bungalows and the 4 person bungalow. We said ok thats fine. Later that night they came and said that we couldn't have the 2 person bungalow because we only had 6 people (even though we rented two 4 person bungalows). They said someone had rented it even though when they said we could have it i double checked no one else had it. Turns out the people had called that evening to rent it. They did give us the difference back for the 4 person bungalow rental. The camp ground was pretty clean but super cramped. I was really hoping to have a better experience and unfortunately won't returning or be recommending to others. read more

The resort itself was clean and well kept. However, there was no music the weekend we were there so it was really quiet there. Also, the morning of our float there was a family emergency with the staff and no one was there to open the store or run the place. Time ticked away and after an hour and a half I called the next resort down the road to come and get us. Too bad for Gypsy Resort that weekend. There was two cabins of 5 people looking to tube. They lost out on our money BIG TIME. Management Communication is the KEY here. Be sure to bring your own charcoal and coffee makers if you stay in the cabins. read more

I was looking for a peaceful getaway in the New Braunfels area. I was going to be in that area for research I was doing. Found the Gypsy River resort on Facebook and glad I did. It was nothing short of amazing. I stayed in an adorable little cottage near the Cypress Gardens. So beautiful, so refreshing. It was absolutely the best thing I did for myself. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is going to be in the area. Actually, scratch that - I highly recommend this place for anyone who needs a relaxing getaway. Rented RV lot 21 (full hookup included water, electricity, & sewage) weekend of June 21. Not sure why the negative reviews but when I called, I was specifically told which lots had full hookups and which didn't (I believe the ones along the river don't have sewage). This was our first time here and we absolutely loved it! Staff was extra friendly and helpful; they went out of their way to escort us to our site and even helped us back in. The resort itself was very clean, well set up, and cutely decorated wi. It was nice that each site has its own trash can that's emptied out daily by staff. Shower/restroom facilities were nice and clean and look and smell recently remodeled (like cedar). The location was great, right on the river, plus there's picnic tables inside the river that we enjoyed. The music was awesome; they have speakers down by the river and in the evening, into the night, they had a band up by the front. We rented tubes here as well and had no problems; had someone pick us up within 10 minutes of exiting the river. Overall, we had great time and are already planning a return trip. DO NOT STAY HERE! Total misrepresentation on their website. Believe all of the bad reviews. I am sure if your expectations are low, then you will not have a problem here. I wish I had gone with my gut feeling. If you do decide to go, beware of the small, trashed road you have to go down with your rv for waterfront. It is nothing but a small area filled with utility vehicles and drunk people. The sole, person (Morgan) at the front desk was ZERO help. Obviously, she had better things to do than check us in and give us a welcomed feeling. Had she been more friendly and helpful, we may have made it work....WE left immediately. Pain in the butt to get out of there. Very narrow and not well kept. Not at all what their website portrayed. Total dissappointment. I have disputed full refund with my bank as the owner has never called me back. Thank goodness for USAA! But even if I hadn't received a refund from my bank, this review would have been well worth the money. Hopefully, to save another person the hassle! Don't go here! read more

Cute RV/Camping resort decorated in a fun Gypsy theme. It is on the Guadalupe River with scenic views of the river and of cliff faces with mountain goats. It was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. They had live music at night too! We would totally recommend a stay here. read more

Stayed 4 nights over Spring Break...6 of us in a riverfront RV site. Beautiful property, helpful and friendly owners. The view can't be beat! Owners also loaned us a grill to cook on, and brought us a bundle of Fire wood for our fire pit. The bath house and restrooms are super clean, the entire property is well maintained. They come around every morning to pick up garbage. Would love to go back when they start having live music. A beautiful spot I highly recommend for RV/tent camping, or cabin rental. read more

We stayed here in July of 2017 & 2018 and already have our spot reserved for this summer. In 2017, we went on a weekend that they had karaoke and had a blast! We even left the concert we were attending at Gruene Hall and went back to our campground for karaoke. 2018, was a fun trip too, nothing going on Friday night and live music on Saturday we just didn't care for the band. The owners were great, very nice and everyone is friendly. The tubes could use an upgrade but overall a good float and a good time! read more

I have tried calling Gypsy River for the past 72 hours on posted phone line and within working hours also posted on website. The last time I was in the area Mid June, I drove by Gypsy River to introduce myself and inquire about the prospect of me renting in mid-July. The person manning an outside post was more concerned that I was blocking the lane for the "tube" bus. I made every polite attempt to accomidate his less than enviting demands, restated my intent for bothering him and still did not get any other response than; "you got to talk to owners". I left. The two experiences validate many of the reviews I have read...the 2-3's. This one will likely be discounted but averaged with a 5 it still gives the impression that "the owners" do not have the true "attitude of an owner"....service first, not everybody is right but everybody deserves to be treated with respect, even if it is polished with a spit rag. I have since called and booked a weekend in July with Gip River's competition three doors down river. read more

We would NEVER recommend The Gypsy River Resort to any one Ever again.... as long as the NEW OWNERS own it. We stayed in 2015 and 2016 Loved it with the old owners never had any issues. Two showers and toliets all running, clean and stocked. This year 2017 worst experience ever. The NEW OWNERS don't know what they are doing. Both showers and toliets were broke, couldn't be used. They did bring one port a potty how kind NOT We were told we could pay and use the showers at the RV park next door. Long lines and only one of the ladies shower worked. Some of us had to use the mens showers. They complained about noice when it wasn't loud. They have karaoke every night you can hear it when your trying to sleep. They complained when one of us would lock or unlock the car it was loud. Cause it would chirp the horn. To get in and out of the campsite is all gravel with pot holes so when one of the campers was pulling out he spun his tires a little trying to get traction. The NEW OWNER called the cops and they mad him and his wife pack up their tent and leave. Not to mention the NEW OWNER ran over one of our rafts and popped it do you think she apologize? Beautiful property I have enjoyed every summer for the past 3 years...until this weekend! I invited my fiancé, along with his daughter, to attend the annual river trip with my friends. I spent months bragging about how amazing it is and how much fun we would have. You can only imagine my disgust and embarrassment in the new owners and the way we were treated this year. Price increased dramatically and facilities were half of what they've been in the past, owners were rude and very inappropriate to our group. I'm sure our group will continue our annual trip but we will be finding a place that knows how to treat their customers with respect and appreciation for their business. read more

The cabin itself was perfect with plenty of room, which was especially important to us since we had extra people in our group. i would give this resort 5 stars, but on the night that we arrived, the owners girlfriend barged into our cabin at 3 am cussing and accusing us of another campsites wrong doings. It terrified some of the people in our cabin since it was so late at night and she was asking for everyone's ID's. The rest of the weekend was perfect, though. The tube rentals were cheap and they're conveniently placed right on the river. They had live music each night, which was right outside our cabin and the bands were amazing. I would definitely recommend this resort, but keep in mind the above comment about the owners girlfriend. Nobody ever apologized about the whole incident, which was very disappointing. read more

I truly enjoyed our time there summer 2017! Had a blast with a lot of great people! This summer, not so much! No water, no working toilets or showers and no F*%ks given by the owners! 150 people using 2 port o potty's for 3 days and no way to actually shower. They told us everyone was having water problems but they lied. We called everyone up and down the river and no one else has any issues. We asked for a discount or at least a free 2nd shuttle ride and were told no to both! They seriously could not have cared any less! Bags of ice were 3.50 and mostly just melted water. 15 yrs and my worst river trip ever! So disappointing! Especially when it's your favorite thing to do every summer! Boooo on you Gypsy, you should be ashamed! Not to mention we had a group of 10! Dreamers cottage, dreamers bungalow and 2 campsites with 7 more day visitors on Saturday who paid to shuttle and park! My first time going down the river on a raft. Due to high river level and fast flowing water, the river was unsafe for tubing. I was skeptical on rafting but am ok with trying anything once. The two guides with our group of 10 were amazing and hilarious. Definitely made me feel more comfortable. Our guides went by the names captain God and captain Lord. Lol they were some great down to earth people. Everyone wear kind of bummed out about the river flowing so fast and speeding our float up but the guides made it clear that we could slow down and pull over where ever to get out and chill for as long as we wanted. They were informative of the area and LOVE their job so this rafting experience was one for the books for sure and I would highly recommend these two (not sure if we ever got their real names lol) guides to anyone looking for a good time down the Guadeloupe river. read more

My family and friends, and our friends families all stayed here our entire spring break. We had a wonderful time. The property was clean, the cabins were adorable, and the main house/cabin was well equipped with every thing we needed for the week. We took the rafts down the river, fished, they lit the campfire for us so that the kids could have smores. The wife has an old school bus that she turned into boutique that has super cute and funky items! I will definitely go back. I'm looking forward to going on a night they have live music. read more

I have been visiting this area 2-3 times a year for over 30 years. I have stayed at multiple properties during that time on this river and this property always draws me. It has easy river access with both shallow and deep water, and good shade. I have seen the property go through multiple owners over the years. I absolutely love the current owners. Their vision for, and dedication to the property impressed me from day 1. And they continue to impress me. And they don't tolerate stupidity which in-dangers other guests and takes away from their retreat. I see some of the other reviews, I don't know what planet they are from. This are the best owners I've ever dealt with on the river over the decades, and I'm so blessed it was my favorite property they took over. The bathrooms are by far better than ever before. And the property improvements they have made to store abs camp sites and cabins...it's simply unmatched. They also got everything you need on site too. Clean restroom and showers, good food, fluids of all types and ice. Oh, and that deep water I talked about, that's where you want to put the pole if your there to fish. I really can't recommend this property and owners enough. You just need to go, don't hesitate at all. read more

I'm am still in shock at what a mess the "owners" made out of our weekend. We have gone to the same property for the past 7 years- it's a piece of tent property right before Gypsy River resort- right on the riverbank. There have been 2 different owners in this time and Gypsy River acquired the property some time last year. We have always had a great time until this year. Last night- right after we waited for 45 min to get picked up from a float- I had someone come and ask for me by name because the property was rented under by name and under my husband's credit card. From the moment I stood up and walked over to a Polaris- I was immediately YELLED at by a woman with red hair. She literally started screaming at me about one of our friends and rather than explain what happened- all she did was yell at me and tell me that if our friends doesn't immediately leave- she will call the police. Keep in mind- I had just got back from their shuttle and had no idea what happened or why our friend was being kicked off their property. Next thing you know- a guy came walking up yelling as well and arguing at the bottom of a hill with my friend that was being asked to leave. Not only was it confrontational- he also called him a fat fuck. All of this happened within 3 minutes. Next thing you know- red headed lady called the cops and proceeded to drive the Polaris over a tube and "mean mugged" me the whole time. Again- we had just got back from their shuttle. Once the cops got there they gave our friend an hour to leave. I had no idea what the lady or the man's names were until I looked on the Facebook page and it is the owners that came at me yelling and didn't introduce themselves at all. It was the owners who were calling my friend a fat fuck. It was the owners who never came to find me if they had an issue until they were acting absolutely crazy and out of control. If you had an issue with anyone at our camp - come find me or my husband and introduce yourselves to us. Don't yell and scream at the top of your lungs at someone who doesn't know who you are. Don't call people names just because you have such a limited vocabulary. If the music is too loud or someone peels out at your property - come sit down and talk to us. Not only did it take forever to get the reservation secured - since January. Numerous times of trying to get ahold of someone because you don't answer your phone. Numerous emails that were not answered. Bathrooms on the property were not working at all - on the main resort the women's bathroom only had 1 working shower and the entire park was packed. I tried calling twice already today to discuss this with one of them but again- no answer. You have my contact information if you would like to talk to me. read more

My family has been coming to this resort for years and through the many owner transfers and have always had a great time. However this last weekend has proven to us the current owner Tiffany is not very friendly or professional towards her customers. We had spots 2-11 booked and had many many people with us. We used CHALK to write in the concrete below us for fun and giggles however not everyone in our group knew about it. When the owner seen it she blew up and called two of our family members cussing them out right off the bat and gave no chance for our side to explain or come to an understanding. We were threatened with vandalism and being put in jail for simply writing in chalk on the concrete where we were staying. We were more than happy to wash off the chalk but the way Tiffany handled it was very unprofessional and the customer service was so bad I don't know if I will return. And we always bring a HUGE group with us. read more
