I'm giving it four starts because the sweet treats were amazing, and the cold teas were tasty. The shop is super cute and a great vibe, I just felt as though the service left something to be desired. While it was speedy, they seemed almost annoyed that we were there. Overall, it was an okay experience, and I'm not sure I would make the trip back. read more

Gruene Tea Haus is a lovely little boutique tea house to slow down and enjoy a wide variety of teas and delicious tea-themed cookies. You can sit and read or work on a laptop and enjoy a flight of 4 teas or a pot. I've had several flights and have found my favorites, but I still enjoy trying new ones. The owners are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about tea. They will help you find your match. Their sniffing table is a wonderful experience in and of itself. I didn't order anything to eat, but they have a good variety of treats to choose from. The owner is very kind and knowledgeable about the teas. Absolutely incredible gem of a place in the middle of Texas. If you're a fan of tea, this is worth the trip to new Braunfels alone. Amazing tea varieties, tea flights, calming vibes, board games. Incredibly knowledgeable owner! Been to tea shops in NYC and LA and this place has all them beat from my experience. Will be a repeat customer here for many years to come. read more

I do not get why yelp chooses to not show their other 3 pages of 5 star reviews? I pressed that lil thing at bottom to see the ones they not showing and I was like what the heck....What's with the cutting off??? We've been here several times and bought different bags and some ceremonial Matcha. I know people look for the real stuff, not the fake Matcha.. and it was a cool lil' relaxing spot to get some good tea from some LEGIT tea lovers that really know their stuff. And they really listen and take suggestions from their patrons.. which shows how much they care. So interesting to see allll the different people that LOVE tea! We went in at 4:32 on my moms birthday, my mom has been dying to come here! And we were informed that they stopped serving in house tea at 4:30, even though they are open till 5. Although I understand it, that's NOT listed anywhere on their website so what a disappointment when we drove all that way just to leave. They girl working was very kind about it she was great not her fault at all, but very poor management to not inform guests better. Really disappointed and kinda ruined the vibe of my moms birthday treat. Also dang like it was only 2 minutes late with no one else in the building you think they would have served us. Best experience! You don't have to be a tea lover to fall in love with this place. The variety of teas available for you to smell before you decide on a pot has something for every palette. You even get to choose your cups - east or west styles! The baked goods are infused with tea as well. We had the chai muffin & macadamia oolong tea cookie. Both amazing, not too sweet. I had the Mumbai masala chai, so flavorful and wonderfully decadent with the sweet cream on the side! My friend had the shanti to sooth her sinus. Service was friendly, helpful. I felt at home there! Very pleasant atmosphere. Owner was happy to share knowledge of the different types of teas for a novice such as I. I enjoyed the tea he suggested and purchased the same along with a tea pot. I met someone there for the first time, day date, and it was nice to be able to sit there quietly and talk over tea! Date or no, I will be back to relax and enjoy my next flavor of tea! Surprise find. Tea service was simple and lovely. Novel idea to select your own tea cup from which to drink. I appreciate that guests can smell a wide variety of loose tea samples to get a sense of flavor. Also, I like that teapot is kept hot with tea light candles. My last sip was just as hot my first. The owner is very knowledgeable of all the varieties of tea and how best to enjoy them, so I learned something new. The setup is a super cute little coffee truck with easy parking and some seating, which made it such a pleasant stop. Everything about the experience was great from the quality of the food and drinks to the overall vibe. I'll definitely be back!

if you are a real tea drinker (NOT defined as a sweetened-iced-tea drinker only) who drinks a cup or two of morning hot tea instead of coffee, you will be both delighted and educated by this tea shop. The proprietor is extremely knowledgeable about teas. I learned so many things about tea itself as well as the proper brewing of tea. He also gives Sunday seminars at the shop. The selection of available tea was amazing!! I actually bought more than I had planned. Again, if you're a "real" tea drinker you have to visit. The visit to the area is also delightful in Gruene Lake Village, not quite to downtown Gruene. It's next to Popbelly Popcorn, another of my favorite Gruene Lake Village shops. I attended a small, tea-themed baby shower for my boyfriend's daughter at this tea house, and it turned out to be a really special experience. The atmosphere was peaceful and charming--perfect for an intimate gathering. The owner, was incredibly kind and welcoming. He gave us the space we needed to celebrate while also making sure we had everything we needed tea-wise. We brought our own danishes, which he was gracious about, and it worked out beautifully with the flow of the afternoon. The tea itself was lovely--high quality and thoughtfully prepared, with a nice selection to choose from. It felt personal, calm, and just right for the occasion. I had been waiting sometime for this place to open as the NB Herald had a couple of articles about them opening. I was worried it would be sugared teas or boba. Nope, they are a legit loose-leaf tea place. So glad! We need a place like this in the great SA area. Closest to something like this is West China in Austin. Albert and Casey are the owners. Casey is a former public school teacher; Albert still teaches. They are there every day. They have more than 10 green teas, like Sencha, Genmaicha, Long Jing and others and a bunch of blacks and puer. Even yellow tea! The tea-infused baked goods are so good. Love the range of teas. Albert explains all the six categories of tea he offers (including dark & yellow which is rare) and the herbals too. Love the Shanti! You can do sit-down and chill to the relaxing music with candles keeping your tea warm. They use glass teapots so you can see the color of the tea. They have great coldbrews. my fave or Ceylon Black Iced Tea and Jamaica. Albert and Casey serve you and bus your tables. Great place! read more

It looked like most had been sold. They did have a few containers of mini pancakes with blueberries and some croissants. I tried the mini pancakes. They were very puffy almost biscuit like appearance.They were little on the dry side. I had them to go so it was too late to ask if they had syrup. The blueberries were fresh and delicious. The woman working at the counter let me know that they are closing at the end of the month and they will reopen in spring at a different location . in the past they have had farmers markets on Sunday. She wasn't sure if they would be one at the end of January 2026, so follow them on Instagram to see when in spring 2026 they will reopen and also to see if there will be a farmers market this month.
