I was in line tonight and with another person in front of me and the clock struck 8:00 and the young woman at the counter literally told us, "Sorry, that was the last customer. We close at 8." I've never been in line at a counter business in my life and been turned away because of hours. Second, the sandwiches here made with overly thick bread but the meat portions are paper thin. These are not sandwiches, they are bread with a hint of meat. I always get the pizzas here as thst is all they offer that is worthwhile. Unfortunately, though, there is... Third, they haven't changed the menu since they opened. It's bee. the same damned options for the past few years! People say they have a favorite (always pizza) at Fuel and that's because they can never get a new option. This is a lazy business that had a great beginning but one which doesn't listen to its customers at all. They've been told about the hours, the fat bread, and the lack of new options by many people, and they feign a politeness that tells you that they don't value your opinion. It gets by because it's in a town with few options and even fewer new ones.

Executive Summary…read more Gyro King has the potential to be a standout downtown option, with a spacious and inviting setup, generous portions, and friendly service. But my visit on a Saturday afternoon left me underwhelmed. The flavors hinted at quality, yet the execution and pricing missed the mark. My gyro combo with chips and a drink totaled $16.44--by far the most expensive meal I had during several days in town--and the soggy, warmed-over meat made the price sting even more. This is a place I'd be willing to try again during a busier time when the kitchen is moving quickly, but based on my experience, value and consistency need real improvement before Gyro King earns a higher spot on my downtown list. Full Review Location & Atmosphere Gyro King benefits from a great downtown location, adjacent to the market but operating as its own restaurant with a connecting doorway. That setup gives you shared market restrooms but still allows Gyro King to have its own space and vibe. Inside, the room is clean and appealing--long counter seating along one wall, tables down the middle, and classic tin-style ceiling panels that add character. It's bright, airy, and big enough to handle either a quick solo stop or a sit-down with friends. Parking downtown is another story. On a Saturday afternoon with a home football game nearby, both street parking and the lot out back were a challenge. That said, once inside, the restaurant was empty and I was greeted almost immediately by the gentleman working, who even stepped out to check on me as I paused at the side door. Service Friendly, quick, and attentive. Ordering was simple, and I appreciated the proactive greeting--it makes a difference when you walk into an empty dining room. Food I ordered the Original Gyro ($8) with chips and a drink, which brought my total to $16.44. For a gyro and chips, that's steep--easily the most expensive meal I had over several days in town. And while the serving size was generous (so big the box lid barely closed), the value just didn't match the quality. The bread, veggies, and sauce were fine--exactly what you'd expect. The meat, though, was the disappointment. It had good flavor, maybe even something house-prepared, but it had been sitting in a warmer too long. Instead of those crispy, caramelized edges that make gyro meat shine, it was soggy and soft. The taste hinted at greatness, but the execution let it down. When you're paying a premium, that gap matters. Overall Impression Gyro King checks a lot of boxes: strong location, clean and stylish dining space, attentive service, and portions that impress. But the pricing and execution are off. For $16+, I expect a gyro that delivers on texture as well as taste. Maybe during peak lunch or dinner hours when turnover is high, the food is excellent--but on a slower afternoon, it was underwhelming and overpriced. Would I return? Probably--but only at a busier time when I know the meat won't be languishing in a warmer. As it stands, Gyro King is a place with promise, but they're missing the mark for value.

Bare Arms is part indoor gun range, part BBQ diner, and fully unique. Even though it was close to closing, Whitney took incredible care of us. She greeted us like we were her first table of the day, not her last. Service was fast, friendly, and exactly what we needed after a long stretch on the road. The food? Legit. The pulled pork nachos were stacked high with fresh toppings and absolutely drenched in an amazing cheese sauce that deserves a fan club. We also grabbed a side of mac & cheese, rich, creamy, and just the right size. Everything came out hot and fast, which made it perfect for travelers needing a solid meal without a long wait. The vibe inside? Patriotic, quirky, and full of personality. Think vintage military posters, wood-paneled walls, and a dash of pin-up flair. It walks the line between roadside kitsch and local pride in the best way possible. We'd absolutely stop again. And just for the record--no, the waitress didn't look like the ones in the posters... but she was way cooler.

Visited this location last night for an impromptu date night with my wife…read more Despite the holiday weekend, the business was busy and we had about a fifteen minute wait to be seated (they have both inside and outside waiting seating), we chose a bench outside in the cool evening air. Once our table was ready, we were notified by the hostess and seated at a high top near the bar (bar seating it first come first serve at the bar). They also have low top tables for parties of 4 to 6. Despite being close to the bar, we were still able to talk easily and noise level was acceptable. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu and made some helpful suggestions that we used. We ordered a pickle fries appetizer with ranch dipping sauce with our drinks. These came out quickly and were still hot from the fryer but they were good and the homemade ranch was really good (our server advised they make all their sauces and dips in house). For our mains, we both ordered the original burger - a half pound burger on a bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles topped with ketchup, mustard and mayo. We also opted to pay an extra fifty cents to add cheese (American for me and provolone for her). We also opted to pay an extra fee to add sweet potato fries and onion rings to our meals as opposed to fresh cut chips. The burgers were a little slow getting out and drinks began to run dry. Once our burgers came out, they looked great but mine was a little salty and I could taste the salt over the other toppings in my first bite. After that the burger leveled out and we enjoyed our meal. My wife did not like the Maple Siracha dipping sauce that came with her sweet potato fries and after trying it, I was not impressed either. All in all, a good meal at a fair price. Good place for a casual date.
