Breading was crispy and flavorful, sauces were house made and on point, and the chicken was high quality and moist. 100% would come here again. The environment is always super upbeat and happy and I believe I can confidently say these are hands down the best wings anywhere in Charleston and Huntington WV. You can't beat the crisp texture and shear juiciness of the wings, and I really liked the sauces as well, let alone the fact you can mix and match to make your own unique sauce.The wedge salad was massive, think half of a honeydew melon and you'll get the gist. How does this place stay in business? It's not just that the food is bad--and it is really bad--but they also buy the cheapest ingredients. They use salad dressings for dipping sauces! And cheap salad dressing at that. The menu isn't the least bit creative and the food is not well-prepared. Just a truly awful food experience. I've visited this establishment three times now. Every time I visit, the service gets worse. My first visit was mediocre at best. On my third visit I ordered traditional hot wings. It was painfully obvious that the server was not genuinely friendly. She acted like it was some problem to serve me. I received boneless wings instead of what I ordered. I tried them anyways and was not impressed by the flavor at all. After eating three pieces I asked for the check. My server asked if I'd like a to/go box. I responded with "No". Instead of asking if something was wrong with the food she quickly brought my check and thanked me for coming in. I've worked in restaurants in the past and normally when a customer eats only a few bites and then wants to leave, without taking any of the remaining food with them, that's usually a hint that there's a problem with the food. If a server actually cared about doing their job, they would ask if something was wrong. Not at Roosters! Just give me my money! Gross. Rooster's is a great place to grab a beer and wings if you just want to relax a bit or enjoy yourself before/after seeing a movie at the theater next door. Just hope you get a good server! While I don't always remember to check in on Yelp, I have been here about six times so far. Their wings are excellent, though you will notice some degree of difference in wing size, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse when it comes to value. I enjoy their pretzel appetizer very much, though their loaded tots/fries are honestly not worth the money so I would skip those if I were you. Draft selection is decent though pretty basic (if you want a great draft selection, try Summit Beer Station nearby). Service here can be good or okay depending on who you get, though I would not say I have ever had bad service here. They would probably benefit from a manager making regular rounds to check on guests and to observe the servers and bartenders, though given how full the place tends to be, they aren't hurting for customers as it is. Parking to come here is either going to cost you in dollars or in time spent walking from the surrounding areas, since everything is pay-garages or metered parking (free after 6pm). Overall, I like Rooster's because of its simplicity and fun feel, as well as its proximity to the movie theater. As far as their actual food and service, they fall closer to the middle of the pack, though. Overall: 3.5 stars ---- Pros: - Decent food at good prices. - Service varies but is usually at least okay, often good. - Interior has a fun casual feel to it, good for groups. Both were delicious and great to split between the five of us! The star of the show was certainly the wings. My sister and I split medium wings and spicy Thai chili. My personal favorite was the Thai. All of the wings were huge and meaty and cooked to perfection. Normally 10 wings is filling, with maybe a couple wings to spare for the next day.
