Pretty sure the place is an old American Legion! It is def a bar setting and I wouldn't recommend it for families! The only thing great was our server. She was friendly and attentive. Had to listen to the 2 drunk guys sitting at the bar the whole time we were there. The back door is left open as they have outside seating, but this let the flies in. We would have never gone inside without that bit of information, cause it just doesn't look like a place we would normally go. What a pleasant surprise. Actually clean and light inside. I pictured a dark and dingy bar. We sat at the bar. Ordered a pizza and the Italian Beef Sandwich. Let me start by saying we have been Safer at home for the better part of 5 weeks. We asked Jamie if she could bring back the prime rib that she Usually makes on Saturdays with reservations. We pre ordered our prime rib on Wednesday to be ready Friday at 5:15.We were one minute late but that didn't stop the food from being hot in delicious by the time we got home. Took forever for a waitress to wait on us. When she did, it seemed like it was a bother to do so. Another lady came to take our order after 20 minutes sitting (we were there around 2pm so it was not crowded). The waitress was spending more time talking to customers at another table then waiting on us. Place was really dirty looking and it looked like the menus were never cleaned. Never got a refill on drinks. Never was asked how our food was. In fact, I got a chicken wrap. It was literally all lettuce and tomatoes...with a tiny piece of chicken in it (maybe 3 bites worth). There were flies EVERYWHERE inside which made it even more un-enjoyable. The waitress was the most unfriendly lady I ever met since moving in FL 2 years ago. We got our food and never heard from the waitress again (except to drop off the check) and walk away quickly to go back to socializing with other patrons (friends I am assuming). She spend more time talking to them the hour we were there than anything else. She also smelled like cigarettes so I can only imagine where her hands were before handling our plates. Last problem, we asked about dessert (because my friend wanted something sweet) and her reply was as she kept walking "We have no desserts" as she walked away. My friend and I ordered dinner and 15 minutes after my friend got hers mine was served. My grilled chicken was so over cooked it was not fit to be consumed and was cold. The end result was instead of an apology the owner had the waitress tell me she would appreciate me not coming back. Very often the plumbing in the bathroom doesn't work and the toilets are overflowing onto the floor. I think they did me a favor but there is lots wrong with the way this played out! read more

Delicious food! We had the reuben, grumpy pizza and the nacho platter. All were terrific! Additionally, we had the "gator slide" which is a non-liquor version of a mudslide. It tasted like a chocolate shake. Also, the staff was VERY friendly. It was very clean. Definitely a terrific place to go! read more

Tried Grumpy Gators again last night. We ended up leaving. I am sure the food is still great but the service is non-existent. Waitress walked by us at least 3 times and said she would be right with us. If she had been busy it would not have been an issue. Grew a beard waiting for the food to come and was greatly disappointed. The chicken tenders were burnt to a volcanic char making the leather inside rather tough. The Philly had more crispy burnt tar than a Arizona highway. The wife sent the chicken tenders back only to get a repeat burn. The cook must be using a smelting furnace. It's kind of pricey too! By far the worst service I have ever seen, our server had only been with the company for about 20 minutes according to her. Could not give me any information about the menu or their gift card process which I had a question about. when I prompted the owner questions she gave me the same generalized answer and seems like she did not have the time of day to speak to me. Due to our experience we decided to leave after they had put the drinks on the table they charged me $9 for drinks that were never really touched a few sips out of them honestly. Was one of the worst experiences of my life the owner definitely expresses the definition grumpy in the title grumpy Gators. It might be a decent place to stop and get a beer but the owner leaves much to be desired would have given it a negative star rating if given an opportunity. read more

There's a lot of places to choose from in Citrus county, but if you want good food, you'll come here first. I am in love with the onion rings. They're the fresh homemade skinny rings not the big doughy frozen ones (ew) You'll LOVE them. And the sweet potato fries are delish too.
