The smog station I normally go to was closed. A man I met recommended that I go to "The Smog Shop " and mention his name and I would receive a discount as he was a friend of the owner. I drove to The Smog Shop which was out of my way and told the owner what his friend said. Long story short - I did not receive any discount and when I told the owner he hadn't given me a discount....he assured me he had until I pointed out the price sign on his wall that clearly showed he had not. He then told me that everything has " gone up" and that he was less expensive than any other smog shop. That is not true. I had to listen to this guy bad mouth other smog shops stating they had "ripped off customers," but I don't see how he thinks he's any different. He could have told me from the beginning that he wasn't giving me a discount and then I could have left and found another less expensive smog station since his charges were higher than any other shop I've been to in the past. I let the owner know that I will not be doing business there again. read more

A little late with this review but as they say, better late than never. I was up north last weekend visiting my grandma. She had to get her vehicle tested so I thought I'd be the prodigal grandson and take care of it myself. Her neighbor recommended that I go to The Smog Shop and I'm glad I did. In and out no problem. Their website says they provide dmv services, and I was told to go across the street to dmv- and here I sit. Waiting. The reason I chose this smog shop was it advertised dmv services. Apparently it's just to get you in there because I mentioned to the guy before he ran the the test that I had my registration paperwork that could be completed once the vehicle passed smog. He asked for my paperwork and didn't say a word about not being able to process it until after I paid for the smog test when it finished. read more

This was a last minute rush. Christmas Eve and I needed to get my truck smogged. The usual places I go we're closed so I called the Smog Shop hoping they were open. He said he would be open until noon. Made it with minutes to spare. My truck was in and out within 15 minutes and the owner couldn't have been nicer. They answered all my questions and didn't mind describing what had to be done in full detail. I can't believe I have been going to this place for as many years I have. The guys are nice and the office is okay, however I sent my nephew there for a smog and his car failed. They charged him 57.00 and when he went back to have it retested they were going to charge him 37.00. I haven't ever checked around for lower prices as it was always convenient being across the street from the DMV. He is a young man with a limited income, so I looked up smog shops to compare and made a few calls. I found Freedom smog on Kansas and was shocked the smog is 21.75 and they retest FREE. What a huge difference and I am never giving this place my business again. Convenience costs to much and they are just making to much off people when I found a place more than half off their price.
