It was very easy to schedule an appointment for an estimate on the roof repair. The estimator was prompt and the estimate itself was half of the previous one that I had gotten from another company. I thought it was very fair and proceeded to hire them. The roofer was prompt and quietly and efficiently went about his repair. The supervisor came out to double check the work and was also prompt and knowledgeable. The office customer service is top notch. I used Gryphon on two jobs. The first was a mold remediation project where they were hired by the AC company that caused the problem. They did a fantastic job, and while there, Steve Kelley checked over a kitchen repair that was being mishandled by my insurance company. I didn't even use them because of the lack of communication. From the get go they are unprofessional. I made the appointment and then I was called about 4 hours after he was supposed to show up to reschedule. Then when he was going to come the next day between 9-10 am he shows up at 230 in the afternoon with no phone call. So, I let him look at the roof "reluctantly". I have to email them three or four days later just to get my quote. I tell them yes lets do the cheaper of the options. Josh Lanam tells me he needs to review the schedule and will get back to me. Two weeks go by and I have not heard a word from them. I will be calling a different company. read more

Gryphon roofing put the old tiles back on my roof most of them were broken and unusable when they didn't have enough of the old tile they used cheap red tile my roof tile is Gray, my roof looks like a checker board. I paid them over $11,000 for a new roof they ripped me off. read more

We used Gryphon to fix a roof leak we had just around 3 years ago. At the time they seemed like they were doing quality work and got the job done. Fast forward to yesterday and we noticed water staining on the ceiling in the exact same spot they fixed 3 years ago. I called, spoke with their office and they instructed me that our warranty expired, but they'd be happy to send someone out for another quote. If their quality of roof repair won't make it to the 3 year mark, why would I want to have them do a repair again? No offer to try to right their obvious poor job of repairing a roof that still has 20 years of life left. Just a "sorry, your warranty expired", can we charge you some more money for a poor job? We just had our roof replaced by Gryphon and we couldn't be happier. We were leaning toward Gryphon after getting bids primarily because our sales guy was extremely smart, friendly, helpful, and attentive. Unfortunately he had a family emergency. Bu we were transitioned smoothly to someone new and she was just as great. The price was competitive with 2 other bids we received, and the work is beautiful. The crew was fast, friendly, and neat. I even saw one of them out there with a metal detector of some kind looking for stray nails around the house. I'm not a roofing expert but we have a complicate roof with multiple peaks and a large flat portion. I've been on the roof many time with the telescope and the difference between the neatness and quality of the new roof vs. the old is like night and day. All the various seams around skylights, the metal whatever-they're-calleds that sick up, etc.. are now neat and tidy, and all that stuff is painted to match, and looks great. Nobody will ever see it but it makes me happy to know the workers took pride in a job that looks great even out of sight. We had two very minor problems with the install (small alignment problem on the drip guard in one corner, and a spot on the eave in a tight corner where it did not look 100% perfect. Gryphon did a review with us when the work was done and when I pointed these out he sent someone back to fix them the next day. There was a small additional lumber cost for the wood that had to be replaced. They told me ahead of time that this was likely given the age of the roof, so although not exciting, it was no problem. Gus, our project manager, worked his crews like a chess player, with each move ready to go when the preceding one was finished, so that idle days were uncommon. He was also closely in touch with us to make sure everything was as we wanted as the work was progressing. When completed work wasn't quite what we had in mind, he immediately had it redone (that was a kitchen closet that we wanted a bit deeper). He offered suggestions but went along with whatever decisions we made, because his goal was to make it the perfect home for us, and not just a finished job. We had Ryan from Gryphon Roofing come over to give us an estimate for roof underlayment repair. This is a 26 year old roof and we have seen evidence of wet spots inside the garage. He went over every section of the roof, took pictures of underlayment, broken tiles, exposed wood due to shifting tiles and missing tiles. Then he gave us various options on how we should address the findings. We opted to replace the entire underlayment. But there was absolutely no push to replace the roof. Ryan was an absolute professional and clearly cared for our best interest. Construction crew came at 0700 on the day they committed. Crew foreman cane by initially and went over what they are going to do, safety precautions that we should take and clean up strategy. They completed all work professionally and cleanup was exactly as they said. I expected to find things wrong during my inspection, but I could not. Once work was complete, their office called to see if there are any issues with crew or work they need to address which is more than what I've seen. Highly recommend these folks to anyone who wants to do roof replacement. read more

My mom used Gryphon nearly 12 years ago on her new roof. During installation the workers cut through her roof membrane which caused a terrible leak in the house when it would rain. I was unaware of the situation but when I moved into the house with her I immediately called them out to look at it. The estimator who was very communicative and a nice guy was going to charge us nearly 800$ to fix what was wrong. He admitted the job had been botched when it was done but that his bosses wouldn't be happy about anything being done free. I understand that it took nearly 10 years for someone to call on this,but when it's obvious an error was made on their part it should be corrected free of charge. They did have a guy put a bunch of black patch roof tar but the roof is leaking again from the same area again a year later. . I'm sure they've done a great job on many roofs and did on ours except in this one area. A company should stand behind their work and not try to charge you even if it's years later. My mom put up with the leak and it damaged dry wall etc. I told the estimator I wasn't trying to hold them responsible for any of that, I just wanted the roof fixed correctly... it didn't happen. read more

After the major hail storm, we had them come out and repair a leak and also place foam over all the flat roof sections on our house. The first major storm after, the roof leaked again. They sent one guy to inspect and he did a water test that indeed revealed the leak, however all he did was a little cauking. Needless to say the roof still leaks. After contacting their warrantee department (which is always a message machine), they failed to show to fix the problem. AVOID GRYPHON AND BRAD RITCH !!!! read more

Gryphon had replaced about 1200 square feet of roofing in 2010. I called to set up an appointment for additional work, the receptionist was very curt and rude. I called them today to get an estimate for the whole roof and the receptionist was so rude and began to argue with me. I told them to forget it and cancel my appointment. I'm glad I did because a new roofer came out and said that their work was not done correctly. I'm glad I cancelled. Rude service, poor work, run far from this company!! read more

We had a huge storm and again without fail my kitchen leaked and my roof is destroyed YET AGAIN, and now I have been trying to call for 2 weeks to get someone to help me with no response and no call back! Everyone at Gryphon was very friendly and professional and offered us a coupon for a few hundred off a complete roof repair. That being said our experience with this company was only so-so. While doing the tear down the mexicans were not careful whatsoever and destroyed my garden, left a bunch of trash in my yard and put a bunch of black marks on the sides of my house. They also cut wires on my air conditioner and one day I came home from work one Saturday to discover my a/c wasn't functioning. When I called the emergency number the guy I spoke to was more interested in me telling him about my neighborhood because he wanted to buy a house in it. Who gives a crap where you want to move, fix my a/c! I'm surprised someone came out to my house at all to fix the air conditioner! The roof is holding up fine and appears to be good workmanship. After the few rains we've had this fall there don't seem to be any leaks in sight. read more

He found and patched a leak, which probably saved our garage roof from caving in, as a huge storm showed up the next day. I have had 3 recent projects done by Gryphon in the past 3 months. All were well done. First was the entry roof repair. I have fought with other roofers for the past year just to get one to come out and give an estimate. Gryphon came out right away and had a reasonable bid. When the crew showed up they spent the better part of 2 days removing and replacing what was bid and did a real nice job on the cleanup. Plus, 2 big storms since and no entry leaks! The second job was house painting. The bid was in line with expectations and included some stucco work to cover up a very bad entry area paneling job. The stucco work was very well done and matched up the rest of the house as if it was done when the house was built! They use fine quality paint (Dunn Edwards) and the place looks great! The last job was a shower remodel. This job plodded on a bit, but mostly because we had some back and forth on tile selection and design. Gryphon did supply us with pics of prior work that helped a lot on selection and style. There were a couple delays but they were related to having a good water membrane and to correct an incorrect tile cut which they made right. We couldn't be happier with our new shower and the capabilities the Gryphon team provided. As with any remodeler, a lot of the job progress requires good communication from the consumer as well. I kept up a steady dialogue with the team so I was not surprised by anything along the way. One area for improvement I would like to recommend for Gryphon would be to include some rough timeframes on their proposals (i.e. how long and how many crews, etc). I was able to get a good idea in my communication, but that is not other consumer's strongpoint and could lead to misunderstandings, etc. All in all, Gryphon did great and I will use them again on my next project. read more

I recommend Gryphon Roofing to inspect and repair your roof. They do an excellent job and are easy to work with. The only drawback was the long wait we had to get them to our house to inspect. Our initial appointment time was set for the morning, but the day before, Gryphon called to say it was for the afternoon, which we could not do. We ended up waiting another couple of weeks (of course it rained and we got wet!) before they could come out. Then another couple of weeks before they could do the repair. So timing was a problem, but that's partially because they're so busy. Really happy with the work and the people who did the repairs. read more

They really have gone down hill in the past 5 years. First time I used them got excellent service. Last time they fixed the leaks were back within 6 months, of course they said it was because they didn't fix high enough up the roof. When I called them back out for an estimate, they missed serveral appointments and when we called the office to ask where they were for the appointment, they didn't even appologize or offer an excuse. I called a week ago to get an estimate on my shingle roof replacement. I was told Tuesday the 29th of August was the soonest I could get an estimator to come by. The Monday before that date I received a call that said someone would be by at 8 AM from Gryphon Roofing. It was after 9 AM on the 29th, without as much as a phone call, no person showed up. I called their office and told them I saw no reason to come by. If they cannot show more concern for their customer than that I did not want them responsible for my roof replacement. read more

I know people like to complain more than tell the story of good - so here is my good on Gryphon from a few years back. When I lived in Mesa I called Gryphon to get a quote on my flat roof which was about 1/3 of my roof. I had quotes up to $5000. for a small area, and Gryphon came in at $2000. The quote for $5000 was just to put more sealant on top, while Gryphons quote included taking off all previous layers and checking the wood. I had a friend that had used them also so I went ahead and used them. They did a fantastic job, the workers were courteous and respectful. They even covered my car outside with plastic. A few years after I developed a small leak on the patio roof and the sales guy came out and instead of making another appointment for it - he retrieved some stuff from his truck and fixed it himself - no charge. It was near a joint where the patio was attatched to the house so it had some flex in it. When I had a new a/c unit put on water started leaking around the a/c unit. Again I called them and had that fixed also. They did a great job and they fixed that leak also. I had them also repair my block fence when someone ran into it with their vehicle. All my experiences with them have been great, and I am a very hard person to please with these kind of things! read more
