I am dreading this review. Not because I don't want to sing the praises of Dr. Nordin, on the…read morecontrary, he is a great physician (hence the 5 stars) No, I am dreading this review for the simple fact that the more word gets out about Dr. Nordin, the harder it will be to make my annual appointment. I guess I am kind of a hipster when it comes to Doctors. Once I see a bunch of rich high school kids with Dr. Nordin's business card, I will probably go somewhere else (jk) So let's get down to brass tacks. What makes Dr. Nordin so special? After all a physical is a physical, right? Wrong. Rather than grab your walnuts, make you cough, then demand a 50 dollar co-pay, Dr. Nordin takes the time out to get to know his patients. Half my health questionnaire was about my hobbies and habits. These inquiries, however trivial, can give any GP a better view inside a patients daily routine and possible health problems that may underlie a daily routine. Literally the first 10 minutes of my physical was getting to know me as a person. I found this remarkable in the US internal medicine world where doctors are paid in quantity of patients and not quality of outcomes. We then went over my labs. Turns out my bad cholesterol was low but so was my good cholesterol. I promised I would eat more bacon. He recommend fish oil. Actually, I take that back, he didn't just recommend fish oil, he instructed me on the nutritional content of the best fish oils and which ones were rip offs. He also said to call his office if I had a question about a particular brand of fish oil. I also said I was having sleep problems and he got me an appointment with a pulmonologist in the same week. I am overweight but my labs are all great. Having seen this he didn't brow beat me for being overweight but rather said keep doing what you are doing. This was great because I can't stand being brow beat by medical professionals. I have lived in several different cities and Dr. Nordin is by far the best Dr. I have ever had. I highly recommend making him your GP.

I underwent surgery at St Lukes in December of 2023. My surgeon was Dr. Peter Leonovicz. Prior to…read moremy surgery, I was a nervous wreck, forcing my internist to put me on anti-anxiety medication. The staff at St Lukes took such great care of me the anti-anxiety meds were unnecessary. Ensconced in Room C3102A, the aides, Michele and Alexis, and the nurses Shanon, Michelle, Margaret, etc, were empathetic, caring, and knowledgable, able to listen and comprehend what I needed. I'm difficult! The last time I spent an overnight in a hospital was in 1959! I am used to VIP treatment, and I am often a dilettante. However, my arrogance was diffused by the sincerity of my caregivers at St. Lukes Hospital. I'm home recuperating, but I will never forget the kindness and care shown to me by the overworked and underappreciated staff. You are all amazing.

First, I must acknowledge that this review comes in the midst of several months of very active…read moreengagement with medical procedures: MRI, ultrasounds, X-rays, EKG, blood tests, PT, and 5 physicians. One can become fairly attuned to what's working and what's not with that level of involvement. Second, my experiences, while not unique to Aurora, reflect on the efficiency models used throughout US medical systems. Each week I get several automated requests to check in to the same appointments. While this requires no more than five minutes of my time, it is very redundant, particularly when I am often asked for the same information when I get to an appointment. The result may be greater accuracy in billing, but I seriously doubt it improves care Further, twice I've been given a pile of papers to complete while waiting, only to have them ignored by the provider. Finally, the only apparent people with which issues can be addressed are nurses and MAs who are similarly frustrated by these issues. In the end, it's not about health or care, and the system is not about people.
