I can't get enough of G's Pizza!!! My family and I have been going to G's in West Branch up North for years and when I recently moved to Waterford I was stoked to find a G's only 20 minutes away in Orion! G's is family owned, which is a rarity in the pizza industry these days. Their pizza is comparable to the historic, and now closed, Dearborn Pizzeria style. It is made with REAL cheese, not that plastic waxy crap pizza places try to pass off as cheese! The two best things on their menu are the pizza and the garlic mozzarella spears. The key thing with the spears is that you order the garlic mozzarella ones, they are soaked in real butter and covered in chopped fresh garlic and real mozzarella cheese and then baked to perfection in the pizza oven. The grease literally drips down your chin! Definitely dish out the extra dollar to get ranch and pizza sauce on the side! The best pizza to order is the following, bacon and small pepperoni, with garlic crust. It's so freaking good...just talking about it makes me want to hop in the car right now. When you hear the name Pizzeria, your first thought is, they must have some amazing pizza. That is not the case here, I have tried the pizza multiple times, every time I get it, its undercooked or just plain nasty. When you eat pizza, you would think there would be a bottom crust, it was so undercooked it flopped when I picked it up, the bottom crust is almost non-existent with about a pound of cheese on top. We go to trivia on Wednesdays. We've always looked forward to the flatbread deal but that's now changed. The new Wednesday "Date Night" plan is a disappointment. It's far too much food with an appetizer + dessert (which aren't really our taste). We can no longer get the flatbread deal but have no interest in the date night plan. This is now the closest restaurant to our house, and I'm pretty glad it is! First of all, just to clarify, the hotel next door is no longer a Best Western. It's like the Palace Inn or something else....not a big name. But the important part is that G's is a great place to dine. It's our last minute go-to for an economical but tasty meal, and the full bar doesn't hurt either. I like the oven baked nachos supreme the very best. I'm really picky about soggy chips, and there are hardly any in this oven baked variety. I usually get a side of sour cream as well. I've gone to G's the last couple weeks and have been enamored with some of the menu choices. I got the boneless wings and fries lunch special and was amazing. The parmesan garlic flavored wings are the best. Genuine garlic and parmesan, instead of a fake flavored sauce. However, I got them again on their 50 cent boneless wings night and they came too hard and crunchy. Maybe an off night. My dad and I got a BBQ Chicken Pizza and it took more than 45 minutes to receive our order, but we continuously got apologies while we waited. The Pizza was really good though. read more

This place is like an northern Michigan getaway cabin with great pizza and good beer selection! Not sure what they did to fix their 'za's but it's sooo good now! Started with a cup of homemade chili which was solid, then to the antipasto salad, also Buddy's pizza worthy. Nothing wrong at all! The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because some one I care about really likes this place. I'm writing this review so you, the reader know what to expect. I hope that the restaurant will take it serious and try to improve service. The night started out bad because the bartender/manager on duty insisted that it was our fault that our reservation "wasn't written down"and no one had told the party planner she needed to put a deposit down for a larger group, so there was a wait to get seated and a very uncomfortable exchange. This could have been handled better, but it got resolved. After everyone was seated, pitchers of soda were served fairly quickly. This would have been good, but it took another 10 minutes for the cups to arrive. When did arrive they were very HOT, which would have been ok, I'm all for clean glassware, BUT no ice was served. Same thing happen with the salad. Hot plates. It's a large restaurant, they don't have enough plates? The pizzas were served WITHOUT any kind of serving utensil, not even one, until we asked for them and that still took much too long. Why didn't it come out before or with the food? Don't they serve Pizza all the time? Isn't Pizza in the name? Nothing was done to resolve this bad experience, it was one mishap after another. The acting manager Laura said that they had a party earlier and were busy. Understandable, but is that our fault too? maybe they were just short staffed or need more training? I don't know what the problem was. An apology would have been nice, but "I'm sorry" was never even on their radar, only excuses. In conclusion, if you plan to have a party here, double check your reservation and lower your expectations; it's more like going to local bar than a restaurants. For $11 person you get a few pizzas, iceberg lettuce and under cooked breadsticks, plus warm soda. Personally there are too many better options to deal with bad service and just ok food. (There is one exceptional waitress though, once you figure out who it is you will fight to be in her section. She has a male counterpart who is a rising star too). The drinks are lazy at best, more like a sloppy mix of disdain and apathy. But don't question the bartender, she goes from arrogant to snotty with a practiced quickness. It was a small order and it took 45 minutes. I can look past that due to most places being short staffed because people still don't want to work. However, the pizza I got was just full of grease and the order of chili was horrible. The cup of chili was literally only half full. I paid $4 for it and only got half of a small cup worth. Not only that, it was horrible. It was already saturated through the bottom of the small wax cup like it had been sitting in there for hours and was simply microwaved before I picked it up. They updated the menu! There are gluten free and vegetarian markings to indicate entrees with these options. I had an asian chicken rice bowl with veggies. It was good, tasty flavorful with a hint of spice. My husband had a delicious looking pizza with chewy crust and stretchy cheese loaded with the meatiest options he could choose. We had family visiting from out of town and thought we could rely on the service and quality of G's. Everything started fine, then our server spilled a drink on our daughter because she was carrying way too many at once. Sure, that happens, no big deal. Then our food comes out, our daughters has cardboard baked right into it.... Ok she pulls that out and starts eating but is just so disgusted she only eats one slice before stopping. Then I found a hair baked into mine. As all of this is happening, one person at our table has not even received his food. We wait for a significant amount of time, they comp it, sure that's great. Still no pizza. We go speak with the manager who brushes us off repeatedly and keeps saying that the pizza has been comped. Turns out they never even started the pizza. The manager continues to brush us off and act as if we are an inconvenience. The postings about the governor's mask mandate made me uncomfortable, though, as they made it clear anyone could claim a medical exemption and not wear a mask. I called today to place a new order and they refused to correct their mistake because I did not call to let them know when it first happened.. When you're going to place a new $40+ order a couple weeks later and they basically call you a liar and refuse to just apologize fix their mistake, they don't deserve my business! There are several things I expect a good Pizza pie to be. It should be tasty, it should be crisp on the bottom and the crust should have nice texture. The sauce should taste like fresh tomatoes and have a little zip. It should come out hot and bubbly. The cheese should be well distributed and plentiful. Unfortunately, Gi's pizza was nothing like that. The crust was mushy and had no consistency. The sauce tasted canned. The cheese had no tangy quality. And the pizza was delivered luke warm. We had appetizers too. but they were nothing to write home about. The ambience was bar-like. I guess if you are going for drinks and want some kind of bar food to go with the drinks, this place might be the ticket, but we had soft drinks and didn't even finish our two tiny pizzas. But I paid extra for add on spears which were missing from order and it wouldn't let me order the chicken parmesan without choosing a dressing which was strange so thought it came with salad and didn't - obviously online order system issue.
