Came here for brunch and loved it. We ordered from their seasonal menu. Which included pineapple upside down pancakes that O have to say we're amazing! Tasted just like a cake, moist, didn't need syrup but not too sweet, perfection in a pancake! I also got the sweet potatoes skillet that had ground chorizo with bite size sweet potato, peppers, a Sunnyside egg on top & avocado slices. Oh so delicious and flavorful. I will start by saying the Cajun Alfredo is absolutely amazing from here. We have seen several inconsistent dishes. Ordered the Bourbon Brussel Sprouts salad with Salmon last night. Brussel Sprouts were so hard it was like eating a raw carrot and the salmon was so over cooked it was grey and dry. We will probably order again but not those dishes and definitely not for the price we paid. Ordered AM tacos, avocado "mouse" was black and sour, the pico was visibly old, and the salsa was room temp so you know has been sitting outside for a while. I got a replacement, but the eggs seem like they were cooked during the week and just reheated. Didn't taste bad, but you could tell not fresh. My husband, kid and I all got sick, we all order some kind of egg, which makes me think either the oil is old, the bacon was left out or IDK what is going on! I've been here several times and all i have ever gotten was the brussel sprout salad and it never disappoints. the brussel sprouts are so perfectly cooked, the blue cheese compliments the salad wonderfully, the bacon and cranberries are a wonderful addition as well. As expected Johnny Black's was busy but not crazy and despise putting in for a table DJ and I initially waited at the bar and then ate at the bar. As the sun was over the yard arm DJ and I opted for something medicinal. A Deep Eddie's Limon for DJ, and I opted for a Bloody Mary. The Deep Eddies was fine as reported by DJ and my Bloody was good except for some hot rim spice that I wiped off. For food I had fried chicken and biscuits with gravy and DJ had the Victoria's Secret which was am omlett with mushrooms, onions and other veg. Both were excellent with mine being a particularly huge meal. The 5th star is missing as the service being a bit slow, with the bartender seemingly getting paid by the word with some customers. Nothing good to say. The Chicken Picante was terrible as was the Shrimp Bowl. Both were dry. The sauce on the picante was so thick, mashed potatoes were tasteless and lumpy. The shrimp bowl had no sauce on it and I had to ask for the broccoli that was supposed to come with it. The asparagus that came with the picante was the best part of the meal. Chicken picante was the worst I ever had, not an artichoke to be found. Will not return. read more

Every time you go here it's so inconsistent from what you're charged what's included in a lunch special and how your food comes out. When I asked my 8yo if Johnny Black's deserved five stars, he said "100%". We love it here and have nothing bad to say. The service is friendly and we feel right at home. I like that one side of the restaurant has the bar and is darker, while the other side is brighter and feels more like a diner. On the weekends, get there early if you don't want a wait. We haven't had a bad breakfast yet, and my favorite is the breakfast sandwich. Breakfast options for our one kid with an egg allergy are quite limited (as they are nearly everywhere), but between potatoes, meat, and cinnamon toast, he always ends up full. This is our favorite downtown LO restaurant, and it's super cool that we can bike here from our house without crossing major roads. read more

It can be hard trying to find places to eat as a vegetarian but they had a pretty good selection, and many items could be make without meat!
