This restaurant remains tried and true. The menu isn't very fancy. But they don't try to be anything they're not. Grab a drink, share an app, sit on the water and watch the sun set. You'll leave full and will probably be back at some point. And GS Steamers will still be here for you. read more

I was kind of hesitant to stop here as some of the other reviews weren't so pleasant, however we actually stayed at the hotel that this restaurant is in and just to make sure being a bar and grill I wanted to see what they had so we checked out the menu before sitting and yeah, no problem I can't remember the name of the way Chris but she was awesome very attentive and helped my wife out with a drink but I'll get that out in a minute. We started with appetizers and we were very impressed. I had some fish strips and she had some clams, and both were very tasty. After this I ordered a fake haddock beer battered onion rings and she had a macaroni and cheese with seafood. Everything tasted just wonderful. It was a nice breezy evening and we sat out on the porch overlooking the river which was only about 100 yd from the lake anyway. The part I wanted to brag about was when my wife showed me the cocktail menu and asked what she thought I would think she would like and I mean this light-heartedly because my wife does not like the taste of alcohol. There's only one particular flavor of wine for example that she can have and I've tried it, it tastes like a spoonful of sugar, I'm not a big fan.. but either way they didn't have that there and nothing else on the cocktail menu looked to me like she was going to enjoy it however I had a video that I had saved from you too a year ago of oranda bartender making a drink that could be served to people that don't like the taste of alcohol. I'm not going to go into what was in it here however I showed the ingredient list to the waitress and asked her if she thought that the bar would have all of that and she replied yes so she wrote down to each individual ingredient and came back with this cool looking glass full of pinkish liquid it had two oz of alcohol in it according to the list I gave her, and my wife absolutely loved it. I was pleasantly surprised finding this place inside of a hotel of all places. The menu is good. It is varied. You can get bar grub under 20 bucks or splurge and get a nice entrée whether it'd be land or sea the seafood platter broiled was the best in the area. A delicious meal with a beautiful view. GS Steamers is one of my favorite restaurants to dine while in Oswego. Service is always phenomenal! Food is always fantastic! One of my favorite sandwiches is the turkey club sandwich, and GS Steamers knocks their version of the turkey club out of the park every time! Instead of using turkey cold cuts on their club sandwich, they serve it with a juicy grilled turkey tenderloin, absolutely delicious ! We eat here a few times a year. We're local, this is a hotel restaurant but pretty decent. There are a lot of choices on the menu. Some standouts are the burgers, French onion soup, ahi tuna and the fried perch (locally caught). It's a typical pub experience with a pretty extensive menu. Service is always good, drinks/food are reasonable, owners are often around and that helps with quality. Weekly trivia and live music are also a good reason to stop by. Great views of the river and outdoor eating in the summer. Cozy during the winter months. read more

The fish sandwich was absolutely delicious (I ordered mine without lettuce), and it did not disappoint! The vibes here were so welcoming and awesome--it felt like such a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. 0/0. Our party of 23 came for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night at 6pm. Reservations were set two weeks prior to give the staff ample time to accommodate our large group. Food started to come out at 7:45 while half our group went without food for 20 minutes. Two of us ordered an appetizer (southwest chicken egg rolls) as an entree. People in our group ordered the same as appetizers and received them with the other appetizers. 20 minutes after the entrees started to come out, our egg rolls had still not come out from the kitchen. We let our waiter know - and the manager came out 10 minutes later telling us they no ran out of egg rolls, after egg rolls had been served to others as an appetizer. Although the manager Michelle did offer us something else, our group had already almost finished their food by the time someone addressed our food issue. We decided to not place another order and wait for our group to finish eating before leaving. I've come to Steamers many times and it's always a hit or miss. The past couples times have been a miss. They have a younger, inexperienced server, Mariah, for larger parties every time I come. Because she couldn't wait on the party alone, they had another server help, which also led for the manager to help. In my opinion, not everyone should be a server. Training is needed, communication is missing, and food is mediocre. Opt out of this restaurant unless you only plan on drinks! This restaurant was overpriced and underperformed. We ordered fish figuring with a nautical name that must be their specialty. The fish was lukewarm , mushy and basically tasteless. The dinner was served with a salad. The salad dressing should have been a warning of the rest of the meal. It was vinegar with a little something else. Some establishments are restaurants with a bar unfortunately this place was a bar ( good mixed drinks) with a subpar restaurant. The servers were attentive but the wait time from ordering to service was very slow. The atmosphere is a restaurant in a hotel with a view of the waterfront. It was clean and the seating was comfortable. If you are hungry after a long trip give it a try. If you're looking for fine dining look somewhere else. read more

Fantastic Place!!! Came up with my family for Super Dirt Week. Unfortunately Mother Nature wasn't very friendly. So we spend a ton of time at this place as our hotel room was just upstairs. Place is top notch George the bartender is awesome as well as all of the other Staff members!! I can't believe this place only has 3 star's, definitely deserve more. Friends and family who live in Oswego definitely love this place. I had the French onion soup which is delicious. My entire I had the potbelly burger (believe that's what it's called). Its a 8oz pattie topped with a generous amount of pulled pork and bacon. Has a fun fried cheese on top. Asked it cooked rare and they cooked it correctly. Many other menus dishes I want to try. Seafood Mac and cheese sounded great and my husband loved his Cajun chicken pasta. Will be back. read more

I enjoy many things about this place, it maintains a homey pub feel as well as a waterside restaurant. There is little to no wait time for drinks at the bar and the food always come quick and hot. I frequently stay at the hotel and having direct access to this place just adds overall value. I recommend this place to people who want to have a semi-quiet/kinda-entertaining evening. They also have life music all the time and they sometimes take song requests so it can be as much fun as you make it. read more

Reserved a table for graduation party of 14 (3 were kids under 7), very accommodating, plenty of space, server very attentive. My Cosmo was fantastic! Several people's orders were cold (French onion soup, Reuben, scallops). Steak and scallops were slightly overdone, other food unremarkable but not bad. Cheesecake and lemon/raspberry cake for dessert were good. Overall okay experience. Would like to give it a higher score as I would definitely come back for another Cosmo, but not necessarily a meal. read more

in town for a conference, 19 people in the bar. We, ( group of 9 ) went to the bar and were told by the bartender that she " guessed we could stay for 1 drink, but she was leaving ". We sat and did not get waited on, so 6 went to the bar to order. 5 got waited on, and the 6th said the bartender walked away, so she did not get waited on. We were told the night before that the dining room closed at 9 but the bar stayed open. Soooo, no? Bartender was LESS than welcoming. Dinner was fantastic several days in a row, our waitress Heidi was amazing every time we went, but one of the bartenders was soooo unwelcoming and clearly did NOT want to be there. Food was pretty good and so was the service during a busy graduation weekend. Not sure why there is so little food photographed for this restaurant so we helped out. They had a modified menu because it was graduation day and there were lots of families in town. They could not have been nicer. We were even able to put up a sign for my sister's graduation and some balloons. My mom and sister also got drinks the night before and said the bar was open past 12 and they let them bring drinks back to their room since we were also staying at the hotel. read more

Plain and simple, this place lacks talent, from the front line servers to the cooks. We were seated just after 6:30, waited 30 minutes for waitress to acknowledge us. 10 minutes later she returned to take our order.  Ordered the appetizer scallops and perch tacos.  5 minutes later, she returned to say they were out of scallops, yet my wife ordered the $28 scallops for a main dish which they served microwaved bay scallops instead of the sea scallops they advertise on their menu - no sauce, no vegetable. I settled for the Ahi tuna as an appetizer.  It was served a half hour later on a bed of field greens without EOO.  The tacos i ordered were served with rice - but no beans, salsa or sour cream.  They were also out of 2 of the 6 tap beers.  The rest of the under 25 staff were standing around and seemed intent on not serving anyone, instead watching the Knicks on TV.  Mind you, the MLB playoffs were on 1 TV out of 10. No one asked how we were doing or if we needed anything else. This place is connected to a hotel chain.  The restaurant is in desperate need of a staff overhaul. I certainly hope senior management does an on-site inspection soon, it is far below average. I recommend dining elsewhere. read more

We were so hopeful about this place. Our server was great. We have never left a review before but felt compelled to. We ordered clam steamers because I had never had them. My boyfriend prepared my first bite and asked if they were supposed to be cold. He sent them back. He ordered the beef tips and they tasted dirty and had an awful taste. They were so tough you had to chew them for minutes to start to break them down. I then ordered the prime rib and it was cold. It has obviously sat (not under) a heat lamp. For $30 prime rib special, this seemed like a good indication of how the kitchen works. read more

Extremely slow service in spite of not being busy. Worst French onion soup EVER. Scallops were small, few in number, and overcooked. Bottom of the barrel French fries were not edible. I kept looking around for a manager, but in over two hours I never saw anyone but our (slow) server. As a birthday treat I planned on ordering dessert. It was never offered as an option. Steamers. It's a bar inside the Econo Lodge. Need I say more? It is nice on the inside. I'll say that much. They have a working toilet, which pretty much sets it apart from all other bar bathrooms in Oswego. Their drink selection is piss poor to be honest. I hear that they have good food, but I've never been tempted to eat it. Stopped in after work to grab some takeout and thought I'd have a drink at the bar. I couldn't even get the bartender to turn around and acknowledge my existence. She was too busy chatting with some of her friends. Then, the phone rang and I thought for sure she might look my way . I mean there are 2 sides of this bar. Freshman drop off weekend at SUNY Oswego, however in the post COVID world the weekend includes Monday. Our daughter had to be back at her dorm for floor meeting at 7, we made reservations for 5:30 thinking 90 minutes should be more than enough. We were seated promptly and then completely ignored by the wait staff for 10 minutes -no joke, we were on a schedule and watching the time; not even water until the hostess asked if anyone had helped us yet. Another couple minutes for Sarah to come over, still without water. We ordered our complete meal, steamers and a French Onion Soup apps, summer berry salad with tenderloin for my wife, clam strips & ahi tuna for our daughter and I had the pork belly burger. I'm looking the the check, Sarah did not open our ticket until 5:48. The steamers were fine, on the small side but sometimes that's how it goes; the French Onion Soup... took me a while to place the flavor of pepperoni. It wasn't really bad just strange, not good and not expected. We sent that back, and Sarah said she would take it off of the bill. 25 minutes later for the entrees. Sarah did not ask how the steak should be cooked for my wife's salad, it was served well, not how my wife likes her steak but we are running late so can't send it back. Sarah also failed to ask about my choice of bun, no big deal because the bun ended up being fine. Overall the food was good, not quite right but good, hence 3 stars. When our food was dropped we asked for the check, stating we needed to leave. After waiting too long Sarah brought our check and the pepperoni French onion soup was still on the bill. Asked for this to be corrected and again state we need to be going. Several minutes for Sarah to bring a corrected check and while my wife was looking to see if Sarah got anything else wrong Sarah has the unmitigated gall to cock her hip in the body language of we are taking up her time. We give her our card and again state we need to be leaving and Sarah walks the opposite direction of the POS, spends time at 2 tables instead of just running the card so we may leave. I have worked 8 plus years in bars and restaurants, during childhood my mother fed us as a waitress so it takes a lot for me to zero tip but congratulations Sarah, the body language of we are wasting your time put it over the edge. You are absolutely unacceptable as a server and other than the bad soup everything was your failure and only your failure which am absolutely qualified to state. Reserved a room for a family get together for a $100 non refundable fee. Room was set up when we arrived, no problem. While the food ordered from the menu was good, the service left much to be desired. No one was offered water, we had to ask for menus, it took the better share of 20 minutes to get a glass of water and another 20 for lemonade or other drinks. Once food was delivered the waitress disappeared; never returned to see how things were, no one asked if dessert was desired. She eventually showed up with the bill. We explained our experience to a manager who showed up, I sent an email to the event planner who never replied, requesting at least a partial refund of the deposit.
