I did not realize that he sold the business about 8 months ago and no longer has any ownership in the business. I went to GT automotive to see Greg, I asked the lady at the desk to have Greg call me. She said "okay." I asked her when I could bring in my vehicle and she said Monday. My son dropped the vehicle off on Monday, and asked the lady to have Greg call me. She said "Ok". After receiving a call about the diagnostics and estimate I was alarmed at the price. I started asking a lot of questions and asked could I speak with Greg, at that time she said Greg no longer works there and that he sold the business to her father. I know, if I would have read the reviews, I would have seen all the comments, but I trusted the GT Automotive brand, and boy was I wrong. I believe this was deceitful, spurious and double-dealing with the GT Automotive brand, and Greg Roberts name! To give them the benefit of the doubt I expressed my feelings about the situation, and wanted to know if the diagnostic fee would apply to the repair like before and every other mechanic I have gone too. They said NO. I also didn't understand why they were charging me a diagnostic fee when I brought the vehicle in and told them what I needed done. I was already aware of the issues. Here is what I needed to get repaired: 1. Replace radiator. 2. Change master break cylinder 3. Refill coolant/flush which wasn't needed since the radiator was replaced. 4. Refill break fluid/flush. Total estimated cost of parts was $924.00, plus $1075.00 in labor, and tax. Total estimated cost of repairs $2,250.00. This seemed excessive when I received three other quotes from several other mechanics for much less then what was quoted. Since I needed to have the repairs done immediately, I let them do the repairs since they said it's the same people working there, but doubt that is true now. One thing they will get credit for is having the truck repaired and ready in one day which should be the case when you are paying a premium like this. When I went to pick up the vehicle, they gave me an invoice which was higher then the estimate, and was giving me reason when the cost was higher. This wasn't discussed with me nor approved. They also give me some BS about the Radiator Hose Y Pipe needed to be replaced / removed which they charged my $240.00 in labor. After discussing and questioning this further, another lady come over and adjusted the invoice. I completely agree that this business is dishonest and not trustworthy at all. Their lack of communication, and deceitful practices towards their customers is not a good sign. As far as their quality of work, that's yet to be determined. We will have to see if the parts hold up and if they warranty their work if something happens. Unfortunately, I am tied to GT Automotive on this one, and will see it through, but I will not recommend them to anyone, and will not do business with them in future. I have been GT customer for years. The new owners have changed this business, but not positively. It took more than 48 hours for them to even look at the car to see what needed service. I had to visit them to get them to even start the inspection process. The price charged for some parts used were almost 5 TIMES the cost for the same part from Amazon. Profit is expected. Gouging is wrong. One wheel hub was replaced, but I was charged labor for replacing two. I trusted the old GT to make profit but not gouge. They were excellent at taking care of their customers and being fair and honest. On local neighbor web sites I have often recommended GT to my friends and neighbors. Dishonest and Not Trustworthy!! Will not use ever again!! First I brought my in vehicle in for a minor repair and told it needed an entire Rear End. I paid for a replacement (cash only). Months later brought same vehicle in for in for inspection of Low Oil Pressure alarm. Was told it was investigated and needed a new engine and would cost $7-8K. Was told metal shavings were seen and it definitely needed a new engine. Had vehicle towed to a trustworthy mechanic for 2nd opinion. Trustworthy mechanic found NO shavings and said only problem was a cracked O-ring. Had it repaired for $800. Now second guessing if the Rear End I paid for was necessary ‍ Sure seems like they're scamming customers!! read more

Truck was brought to GT last month and after reading some reviews I was honestly a bit afraid. However my experience ended up being just fine. The office staff and management were very friendly. My issues were resolved within a reasonable about of time which was a pleasant surprise. While no one wants to pay for such repairs sometimes it sometimes can't be helped. I was given the choice to pay cash or credit. With the credit option you are charged an additional percentage to your bill. This has become common, our fave restaurant does it. Credit card companies charge ridiculously high amounts to use the system, so while I hate paying more I understand businesses having to offset to the customer. Knock on wood I don't have repairs that are needed again but if I do I'm going to be back at GT. read more

I've written rave reviews on GT Automotive in the past. I stand by the work the work they have done in the past. I'm not too knowledgeable on cars, and that's why I go to a mechanic. This last transaction with them gave me pause. I have been going to GT probably over 6 years. They have been my go to for anything under my hood. Never had an issue. The problem this time was my rear door handle fell off. I went through a lot of back and forth with them on this. The door handle fell off in March. I brought the car to them and the had the car 3 whole days... for a door handle. Day 1, they had to order the part. Day 2, part came in but it was the wrong part. So they had to order the correct part and wait another day. Afternoon of day 3, car is ready. $400. Less than a month later, in April, same door handle falls off. A lot of miscommunication and back and forth happens here. I dont really want to go into too much detail of the run around I went through, but it was very frustrating and would only wish nonsense this on my ex best friend. I felt like they were not standing by their work. Finally, after approx. 4 weeks (May) since the handle fell off (the second time), they repair the door handle. This time I come out of pocket another $120 and 2 days (1 night) without my car. I am not blaming the GT Automotive for any mechanical failure. What I am saying is how they handled my situation left me thinking how I feel about my last experience. I didn't like it. I always recommended them across the board. This time, I think my recommendation would be different. This is my honest feeling... YES, I would still recommend them to work UNDER MY HOOD. They do great work for a reasonable price. HOWEVER, I would not go to them for any body work. I dont feel good about putting this out there bc I really like the business and felt good to say that GT Automotive was "my" mechanic. They earned my trust. However, I have to consider my praises in my past reviews. I would feel worse if someone went there based on my review without the whole picture. BEWARE NEW OWNER- SCAMMER arrogant counter person did not inform us of new non refundable diagnostic fee $140.00+. We asked for part "A" to be looked at. They said it was really part "B" causing the issue. That was not the problem. Again we asked about part "A". They said no it is now part "C". After several days, the non refundable fee, and paying for 2 unnecessary repairs almost $2k, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS WHAT WE ASKED FOR IN THE BEGINGING PART "A" TOTAL SCAMMERS. The ladies in the front office were so pleasant initially but turned out to be disinterested in helping in the end. Instead of recommending a day to reset my engine light that they FORGOT to do, they expected me to drop my car off for lord knows how many days after having it a week! There are certain businesses I have frequented that I immediately knew I would end up being a loyal customer, and GT Automotive was one of them. Owner Greg Roberts and his talented technicians are a class act. Kudos for the fine folks at Automotive Diesel Service (Freddie & Tom) recommending them to me. Having been there multiple times now, I feel I can honestly give them the 5 star rating I feel they deserve. My first experience at GT Automotive was for a check engine light and malfunctioning fuel gauge on my wife's SUV. Unfortunately, the diagnosis wasn't what I wanted to hear, as the fuel level sensor and fuel pump were malfunctioning. And like most newer cars, the fuel pump is in the tank, which requires dropping the tank to replace the fuel pump. Anyway, they quoted me a very fair price, and got the job done the same day. My second experience was a few months later for the same SUV, as the check engine light came on again. Greg's diagnostic equipment was telling him it was the anti lock brakes. Luckily for me, he has a great rapport with a local Nissan dealer. At no extra charge to me, a factory Nissan technician visited his shop with a Nissan "scan tool" to provide a second opinion. It ended up being a loose connection to the anti lock brake "pump" and all they had to do was crimp the wire to secure it. I got an oil change while I was there and I was out the door in a few hours with a bill that was less than $100.00. Whew! My most recent trip was for a Royal Purple full synthetic oil change for my car. For all you gear-heads, Royal Purple oil costs over $8.00 per quart in a retail store. However, GT Automotive changed my oil with 8 quarts of Royal Purple oil and a Royal Purple oil filter for under $100.00; including labor. Furthermore, I asked him to inspect my brakes and change them if needed. Being the honest mechanics that they are, they advised me that my brakes had 40-50% pad life remaining and that I was good to go. Lastly, they didn't even charge me for the brake inspection. That's what I call looking out for your customers. GT Automotive uses top of the line parts, lubricants and fluids. They feature Royal Purple lubricants and fluids, Torco race fuels and VP non-ethanol small engine fuels. For your peace of mind, they issue a 12 month parts and labor guarantee on all of their work. I even got a follow up call after my service to make sure that I was satisfied. I have been going to GT for almost 15 years, always thought the price was fair for the work that was done. Greg has recently sold the place, went there today12/26/23, and from this day forward, will never go back there again. Something shady is going on at that place. was told 3 diffirent prices for the same repair. overpricing going on for sure, Diagnostics price is added to total price even if car is being repaired there. diagnostic price should go towards the repair bill. take your money elsewhere. will nevere visit that place again. while i was there, a lady brought her car back for the 9th time because her check engine lights keeps coming on. go figure. read more

I'll never recommend GT AUTO! I took my Infiniti to them twice they never fixed the problem my vehicle still broken,and my truck sounds terrible! And didn't sound like that when I first took it there. I was never told the radiator was being replaced until I asked detail information about what was done to my vehicle bc still having the same problem for a third time after I took it to Greg,never overheated or never had a leak,my friend Troy drove my car back and forth to see what was wrong and never overheated on him the night we dropped it off,no leaks at all!!! I think they were trying to guess the problem and never figured it out! Never got it fixed just not qualified for certified vehicles,maybe change tires,oil change,brakes or maybe simple problems. I have been taking my car to GT Automotive for years, and will continue for years to come. They are very helpful anytime I need to put my car in the shop for a fix or maintenance or just need an oil change. Oil changes are done quickly, and if any repair work needs to be done they usually only need a day or two to get everything fixed. More often than not they only need one day, especially if I drop it off when they open. Just a tip, it's always better to call ahead and let them know why your bringing your car so they can be better prepared to help when you arrive. Keep up the good work!!!!! read more

Had my suv sent there from Crown Buick for inspection and they stole stuff out the suv they went though the whole interior glove box center console spare tire compartment seat pockets under the seats and when I called them on it, their said that they get tons of cars from Crown that are trade ins and that they did not know that it was someone car so in their opinion it was not stealing. Greg was sorry and wants to pay something to make it go away. Greg should fire the person who did it as no matter what if it not their property it is theft to take it. read more

I had really high hopes for this place. Recommended by Lakeside Toyota (only Toyota car dealership that services vehicles in New Orleans), I was hoping I had finally found a mechanic for my old car. Unfortunately GT is not the place. I had a screw that was loose in my front end. It was causing my entire front end to rattle every time I turned. Loudly. Like so bad, you hear me coming miles away. Since my car is my office- and it was around the holidays- it was an emergency. They told me that my front end was broken. I had gotten it replaced 6 mths prior. They convinced me that that mechanic never replaced it, so they told me they would do that for me. Also suggested other repairs. It ended up costing me over $2000. As soon as I drove it off the shop, my brakes stuttered every time I stopped. Immediately drove it back. They told me it was an ABS problem and would cost around $2000 to replace. And since it was an ABS problem and not a brake problem, it wasn't "essential." It sounded like utter bullshit so brought it up to a mechanic in another state I trust. That mechanic told me that none of the work they did on my vehicle was even necessary. And the brake stuttering? Someone had broke one of my front brake sensors and tried to superglue it back into place. The car wasn't recognizing the faulty thing, so my ABS kept on kicking in. Never again. read more

They are honest, affordable, and trustworthy. Their mechanics do it right. Had actually used them many years ago and not sure why I quit going, but could be I forgot about them. Certainly my loss. I have had underhanded sloppy/shoddy work done before by the last people who ran Green Acres Car repair right before they closed up and tore down the buliding. These guys are awesome. The short version is that they're fast, honest, reliable, and know what they're doing. They get you in, get it fixed, and get you back on the road before you even know what's happening. I should have written this review a year ago when they first pulled my car out of the figurative fire, but I wanted to wait and see how things held up. I'd gone to a different place to get my spark plugs changed and they messed it up horribly. Took it to GT the next day and they replaced all the spark plugs and the burnt out solenoids. It worked flawlessly. I went back today to get my oil changed. They fixed me up with a synthetic blend for way less than any of the local oil change outlets charge. The only, ONLY thing I wish was different was that I wished they had someone working Saturdays. It's tough to take time getting to the shop on weekdays when my wife and I only have one car. But taking the time to send it to these guys, even if it puts me out of commission on a weekday, is more than worth it. read more

How is this place still in business? Oh yeah that's right, the owner/crook used to be a service writer for Lakeside Toyota. Obviously they get a kickback for sending people to this crook. I brought in my own parts which were all OEM parts from the stealership. It was roughly $1,700 in parts. Greg, the crooked owner charged me an additional almost $2000 to change a timing belt, water pump and valve cover gaskets. He did a terrible job. He misplaced parts that he insisted were necessary. One being the almost $10 dollar a piece bolts that hold the valve cover on (I believe their are 26 in total) He lost them and stacked up a bunch of washers to replace them. So then I started to question everything that he's done. I brought in ngk iridium spark plugs for him to change and when I pulled one out, I found that he changed them with $1.50 a piece copper Bosch plugs. Oh, and this was a first for me considering I've always done my own tune-ups on my car. He said that the spark plug wire set from the stealership doesn't come with the one that goes to the ignition coil. Also, he gave me back a box of parts that I gave him to put on and even though this was all just routine maintenance my car has been running terribly ever since I got it back from him. And, it is now leaking oil. Great job, crook. All other reviews that seem to give him raving reviews are obviously fake. Be warned, never bring you vehicle to this guy! Used to bring my car there until prices started to get jacked up on me for minuscule things I would have them do (I guess they figured I kept coming back so I had money). Nope, was just being drained from GT Automotive. I scheduled with them to only be rescheduled 3 different times (mind you I live 30 minutes away) and finally I was the one that didn't show up for the third time. My friend did the work for me that was "very labor intensive" and quoted at $300 in 45 min while I was in one of my classes. These guys are clowns. Also had gauges installed that stopped working shortly after installation. By the way those car wash cards they give for Pelican Point are expired or don't work. lmao gotem. read more

Brought in '98 Olds van for repairs. They took the van apart, but failed to put it back together properly. The passenger side front end dropped almost to the ground within a few weeks......they had not reassembled the front end properly, causing damage to the frame, front end and tire. All in all, we had the van towed to another company, Mike's Automotive, on Mandolin St. and he repaired everything. (I cannot repeat the words he used when he saw the condition our van was in when it arrived.) read more

DO NOT bring your vehicle to this place. I thought that I trusted them with my first repair. I brought in my car for another issue several months later and they broke an important piece of my vehicle. They agreed to fix it at a rate twice the amount of another shop. When I tried to explain that they had already charged me more than other shops for the service itself and broken an important piece on my vehicle - they were misogynistic and duplicitous. I read all the great reviews and took my car in a few weeks ago. Battery wasn't charging and I specifically mentioned that I figured it was the alternator. They took a week checking it and said they couldn't find anything wrong. I picked it up Friday for $120 and it wouldn't start Saturday morning. Took it to my old shop uptown, they diagnosed and replaced the alternator and I had it back in two days. Greg and the team are nice guys and I had high hopes, but I should've just stuck to my shop uptown. Maybe it was an off week, but I won't be bringing any of my vehicles back there.
