We have been loyal customers for many years. Today my mother-in-law was in a pinch and needed one tire plugged so she could go about her day. The Tire Shop was completely empty no wait at all. This issue could have been resolved in about 15 mins. I explained who I was in the Community, and they do all the work on all of our vehicles. And he just didn't care. He told us he could do it at 4:30 and to come back, lol it was a leaking tire and going flat quick. If this kid only knew how many people we know in this Community. I just don't like this place, never have. The people who own it are nice enough, but the employees just aren't careful at all when they work on your vehicle. I've taken a car here twice, and both times left with wheels that were severely scarred and scratch marks all over the paint around the wheel-wells. Just too sloppy. Too many other places around to put up with careless workmanship like this. read more

I wish I could give -5 stars. I went to GT for an alignment. They came out and told me my ball joints were about to break, and wanted to charge me $550. I told them I don't have that much money, and they said they could just do the one that was really bad for $350. They heard me on the phone talking about how I wasn't going to be able to pay the mortgage. I made an appointment for the next morning. They claimed I shouldn't even be driving my truck around town. Too dangerous, they said. Your truck could end up on the pavement, they said. The wheel could fall off any time. Soooo I went for a second opinion. The mechanic I took it to said the ball joints aren't terrible at all, that the boots were messed up but that they could still take a lot. He took me under my truck and showed me. He told and showed me exactly why I would be fine to drive back to Atlanta, where a friend could do the work for me for much less than he could. Bottom line, these people need to take the religious plaques down from their walls. It's sad and pathetic how much they scared me. And it was all a lie. read more

I noticed a small problem with my vehicle after routine oil & filter service here. Later, discussed issue with owners who agreed to help resolve. Then realized the problem was not due to any work they had performed but they were willing to replace a small part anyway for good customer relations. This was above and beyond their responsibility and normal wear and tear to my car. So, don't take advantage of course but know these are really good folks who value your vehicle and business. read more

Not sure who gets the discount. I guess its the owner when he buys the tires. It isn't the customers I can tell you that. I stopped going to this place back in the 1990s. They installed tires that were oversized on my car. I barely made it home. Had to drive about 5 miles an hour just to get home safe. There are other places that charge a lot less and do much better work. read more

They have worked on my many cars (mostly older, used, cars I've bought) and I have had them perform, probably 50 (or more) different jobs on my cars (not including all the oil changes). I've taken my van 3 times to GT Discount Tire - and I am never going back because I believe that they are a rip-off shop - at least to me, and that they may have deliberately damaged my vehicle - let me tell you the story. First time: I went to have the front two tires replaced - which went well and I also requested a front end alignment. The alignment mechanic told me that he couldn't do the alignment because my left strut was damaged - but he said he knew a guy who could do the job for $1,000 and then he would install a caster/camber kit for an additional $300 and then he could align it. *WOW* - I told him I would have to think it over, and left. On the Internet, I researched the project and discovered that they now sell completely new strut assemblies (w/spring) and that while a major project - only required a large breaker bar and removing only 7 bolts! I bought two new strut assemblies and the tools I would need for less than $300, and concluded that an experienced mechanic with power tools could have removed and replaced both struts in less than an hour! And he told me $1,000 for the job!? After replacing the struts I returned to GT Discount Tire to have them replace the last two old tires and do a front end alignment. The tires they are going to replace are the two rear tires, and I already know that one-wheel stud is broken off of the rear passenger's side - When the Van went to the alignment shop, the mechanic must have recognized the van, and me - because while he performed the alignment, after he did so, he queried me about the strut replacement and told me that he could not guarantee the alignment - he also seemed rather angry - he was unhappy I had done the work myself - well, of course, he had lost EZ money for his diagnosis - but that's life - and he got paid to do what I couldn't. SCAM #1: A few days later, I went to re-torque the wheels, and discovered that GT Discount Tire had cross threaded a stud on the rear passenger side wheel - which meant that I had only 3 good studs on that wheel. Sure - I could have went back and brought it to their attention - and they would have most likely gladly replaced it for free - BUT I also needed another one replaced - at whatever price they charge for an hour of labor +parts + shop fees. I always figure that if an experienced guy can't do the job right the first time, how's he going to do it again? This was SCAM #1 - (replacing the studs is not a complicated or difficult job) SCAM # 2: I hadn't put many miles on my Van after the alignment, but shortly after I noticed a high-speed wobble, slop in the steering, and that the Van would wander with excessive play in the steering wheel during turns - as the mechanic had predicted. When I finally got around to checking this condition out, I found excessive side to side play on the Driver's side and that the tie rods needed replacing. On an inspection, I couldn't believe what I found! The inner clamp was missing and the mounting area for the clamp was tore up! There is no way this happened by accident - I believe that the angry mechanic at GT Discount Tire decided to teach me a lesson by removing the clamp, tearing the bellows, and beating on the ball joint to cause damage - of that I am sure - even if I can't prove it. If the bellows had been torn BEFORE the alignment,, he would not have performed the alignment and said it needed to be replaced. The bellows clamp is in a protected area and didn't just fall off and tear the clamping area beyond repair. That is why the mechanic told me he couldn't guarantee the alignment, and knew I would be back! Live and learn. read more

GT Tire is not worth the money. I had to buy my tire and wheel (expected) and was told that there would be no charge to put them on and then got charged anyway. Then, they told me the car was fine and it just needed an alignment, but what they didn't tell me is that I had a broken tie rod end or a broken control arm! You'd think for them to be professionals that they'd tell you everything that's wrong with it. read more

I've used GT tires for a few years, and have had good experiences with them (several oil changes etc). The workers are friendly and will explain things to you. However, I went on a Saturday to get my brakes worked on but their brake service employees aren't there on Saturdays, so instead they had someone else look at them and give me an estimate on the price. After a while he returned and told me I only needed the front pads replaced, and it would be $180. I wanted to make sure they checked the rotors, and he said "they don't need replacing. we can turn them for you and it's included in the estimate". I asked if I needed to set an appointment during the week to get it done, and was told to just come in a few hours before they close at 6. I took a half day off work on a Wednesday and got to the shop around 2, and was asked if I had an appointment because they were backed up. I had to make an appointment, and take another half day off of work Thursday. The mechanic came inside after he was finished, and told me the rotors were below specs and had to be replaced, and the total was $339 and some change. I don't view this as shady, because I don't believe it's a scam they run like some chain service shops. However it is very unfortunate - not only did I have to take a day off of work total, but was charged almost double what I was given as an estimate. The brakes work great, and was done in a good amount of time, but overall wasn't very pleased at how it was handled. I gave them 3 stars because every visit except for this one has been great. read more

i had new tires put on my truck after driving a short ways down the road with the new tires, my tire sensor light was on. I turned around and went right back to gt tire and told them the tire sensor light was on and it had not been on before the new tires, only after the new tires did the light come on. They checked it and said the battery in the sensor was low.so later that day I called and spoke with owner and they agreed to look at the sensor. so they looked at the sensor and they said the sensor battery was low and they did replace it for free. I did keep the old sensor, and it turns out they had cracked the sensor when putting the new tires on so it was there fault after all, and they would not admit to there mistake.They thought by saying the battery was low I would be satified with there work. That is why I kept the old sensor so I could let another professional that works in tires look at the sensor.That is how I found out the old sensor was cracked when they put the new tires on. read more
