    Chicken fajitas

We really enjoyed our food and drink at Guaca Maya. I had a giant bean and cheese burrito with a lettuce and tomato accompaniment. It was tasty but made even better with a spoonful of salsa from the complimentary chips. The margarita looked amazing with a colorful lolly and a skewer of gummy candies. You have to see it to appreciate it. Bookguy had a mixed fajita that included shrimp, chicken and beef, which he thought was delicious. Sis ordered chicken fajitas that was so large she had the leftovers for lunch. There were two problems. One, as soon as we walked in the odor of mold was horrible. As we moved away from the door, the horrible smell was less noticeable, but I couldn't help but wonder about overall cleanliness. The second problem was the extremely loud music. There were three individual men taking turns singing using a karaoke machine. They sounded good and this was a nice change of pace from mariachis, but it was too loud per permit conversation. The smell and loud singing prevented a five star review.

Went for the lunch buffet, and was super excited to stuff my face with delicious authentic Mexican food. Sadly, the buffet is mostly just lower tier options and fried food. Nothing to write home about (Phoenix, for me). The location is huge, lots of seating and decorated with Mexican decor to the 9s. It reminded me of many places in south Phoenix. It was a little toasty inside (crank that AC, it's record temps out!). I had some carnitas, rolled tacos, beans, rice, and enchiladas from the buffet. They were all average. Nothing awesome but not terrible. I don't believe I got my $13 worth of food...I felt fried food bloated well before I got into the $13 range. If I went back, is definitely just order off the menu. The fresh tortillas delivered to the table were very tasty, so I may just go with tacos on my next to around here.

I used to come here quite often, but haven't had the opportunity to in recent years. I've now been here twice in the last 6 months and was not impressed either time. Food was fairly bland. Quantity is good and service was average. Both times they had a singer with excessively loud music. Unfortunately I dont see myself coming back

SO disappointed with Guaca Maya. Walking in you would think this was going to be THE place to be! Huge seating area, separate bar area and a pool table room all make Guaca look inviting. The buffet looked large and full of different selections when waking by. Unfortunately, Guaca doesn't meet at first glance expectations. The buffet was a huge disappointment, food items are not labeled and the food was bland. Several of the items looked as if they had been sitting for a while. Our server was incredibly inattentive. It took a while for her to get our drink orders, then she barely checked on us. At no time did I see any server bus their tables. We were really hoping this would be our go to place for Mexican food. Unfortunately it is a definite no go. Happy eating Yelpers!

Great authentic food!!! Delicious guacamole, but don't fill up on it, all the food is delicious too! Great spot in town for an authentic experience. Decorated so cool! You won't find another restaurant like this! Food: burritos are huge! And the Molcajetes are what a lot of people get when they come. Just a large portion of food! I recommend the fajita (silly I know, but the quality is great!) but the tortillas are all handmade fresh everyday, and are reallly good! You must experience this at least once!

It's super cute inside, with so many bright colors, neat Día de los Muertos murals along the walls, colorful pendants strung on top of the dining area, and a very cool bar with a patterned, arched shelves. Even the dishes and cups are fabulous, with earthenware mugs, blue Talavera style dishes and bowls, and even branded El Milagro margarita glasses. Now more importantly, the FOOD is just as good as the decor and the dishware. They use extra high quality ingredients, and everything is always served hot and fresh. We have had the birria, nachos, street tacos, flautas, and so many other things when we branch out and try something new. Their drink options are also great, with strong margaritas, crisp cervesas, and tasty cocktails. The service is always fantastic, and they are always hopping with customers, so you know you found a good spot. Best of all, you get pretty large portions, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the newer Mexican restaurants in town. Next time you're thinking about heading to the Texas Roadhouse area, skip the Roadhouse and try El Milagro instead! I guarantee you will not regret your decision.

However, unlike other Mexican restaurants you do have to pay for additional salsa. I went with a house margarita and the benveza beer, and both were good and cold. I went with the steak picaditas. I hadn't had them before but they were similar to a torta, except the base is a very thick corn tortilla. I like the flavor of the steak, tortilla, sour cream and veggies combined. My husband got the birria platter and liked it. It's very similar to Javi's birria. Overall everything was good.

This last visit they had the entire restaurant decorated for Valentine's Day coming up. But, besides the additional decorations the overall vibe is what you would expect for a Mexican restaurant but more. The service has been friendly and fast! The original Margarita is very good and for the price its about 3 servings. The complementary chips & salsa is great and more of a forgotten service nowadays, but great to see that Alegre is still doing it. The homemade tortilla chips are so good so be careful to not fill up on these before the main entrees. Kendra got the Chile Verde which was massive and was enough food for leftovers the next day. And, I had the Ceviche Sampler which is new and definitely worth every penny! It's hard to find restaurants that have ceviche on the menu, but this has been one of my favorites if you love seafood and a repeater for me! If your looking for more of an upscale $$ Mexican restaurant with great food, service and ambiance it's hard to beat El Muchacho Alegre.

The servers were very friendly and was able to help out when we had questions. The place itself was very well decorated and didn't seem cluttered. They have a lot of metallic art so that was pretty cool.

I highly recommend the tacos. I made a mistake and asked for birria not quesabirria tacos, so make sure to specify that if you want quesabirria (with cheese). But, the birria was good anyways!
