2 stars because the tacos & aguas frescas were good. Other than that, our table was dirty and service was terrible.

You order up at the front and have the different bread options up at the counter for you to choose from. They give you a number, then bring your food out to your table. They had focaccia the first time I came around 12PM and that was so fluffy, and with the sweet and savory sausage, it was fabulous! If they have it in the morning, the jalapeño cheddar bagel, had the perfect spice kick and texture. Great crunchy outside and soft on the inside, chefs kiss. This is a smaller spot, so seating is kinda limited, but it's super cute on the inside! Pink and has greenery along the window seal, so sitting the by window is a peaceful vibe. Waking up early to come here is definitely worth it!

I ordered an iced banana bread latte, super tasty and had just the right amount of caffeine. The American breakfast sandwich on an Asiago bagel was absolutely delicious. The jalapeño schmear has a good kick to it and balanced well with the perfectly cooked soft egg and crispy hash brown. If you like spicy food and want a yummy breakfast sandwich, I recommend the American. The restaurant is cute and quaint. There's a good amount of seating inside with a minimalistic cozy vibe. I'd totally come back here and bring people!

The biscuits and gravy with eggs were perfectly prepared and also served hot. Wifey said probably the best B&G w/eggs she's had. The first thing I noticed is that it's in kind of an unassuming part of Downtown Omaha. I'd call it off the beaten path for sure, and after chatting with some folks I know in Omaha I got the vibe that it maybe isn't in the most common part of town to explore as a tourist BUT I kind of loved that. This part of town feels lived in, authentic, and maybe a bit up and coming, like it's going through it's own sort of revitalization. All of that being said, I felt safe, and I knew I'd love dining here when I approached the building and there was a group of regulars gathered outside soaking up the sun that greeted us. One of them said "those are the days" to his buddies, upon seeing us with two little kids in tow and I honestly enjoyed hearing that little reminder to try and soak up these long but important days with our girls. Once inside I had some of the best hospitality I've had ever at a restaurant. The server was top notch - so friendly, answered all questions, and really made us feel at home. I'd return just for the vibes and service alone. We ordered burgers as it's in the name! They were good - I was I think expecting to be blown away given the reviews and blown away I was not, BUT I was really impressed with the onion rings, the burger was solid, and I'd not hesitate to return. The cherry on top? The owner was making the rounds - Louie himself! - and he was so kind, and thoughtful. There is something to be said about someone taking pride in what they do and I think that really came through here. Overall you can't go wrong stopping in here for a meal - I promise you'll enjoy it!

I'm sure everything on the menu is good, but we came here for wings and boy did they deliver. The house brined wings are Fantastic. We did the extra hot bubba, which is their extra hot sauce fried then grilled In garlic Parmesan, which was so juicy and flavorful and kicked the heat to a perfect amount where it was flavorful but not overbearing. We also did the cactus ranch, which is the medium hot sauce tossed with cactus ranch seasoning, also tried it grilled. Another solid selection that provided a nice amount of heat and flavor. Both were so amazing I can't even say which one I liked more or which one was hotter. The wings are huge, juicy, and came out well-sauced. I filled up after five of mine (my husband tackled them all) and took the rest home. I don't know how to say best wings in Omaha, since I don't live there and haven't tried enough places, but these were some of the best wings we have EVER had, period. And we get wings almost everywhere we go. Also---the hand-cut (you heard me) fries aren't to be passed up on. We tried with the garlic aoili, so good, and a huge basket for $6. Our server was great. They are always busy, so give them some grace. We came during late lunch, got lucky and got seated right away, and it was still a revolving door of people, tables don't sit empty for long. They don't take reservations, and I understand why. They have limited space and when full, you sign up on the Board, there is a bar next door you can also receive a buzzer and go have a few drinks while you wait. This place is definitely worth the wait and we will repeatedly be back when we make it up to Omaha.

Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

Sometimes the specials do not hit for me, but that is not their fault. It is a seat yourself space, but I have never had any issues finding a spot, usually by the time you order, someone has left. My interest was in the toad taco, but when the waitress told me the chili in it was very hot, I opted for a bean taco. Bookguy was disappointed to find that the very hot chili was the only kind. We had previously ordered chili from Nettie's and missed the hot warning so we decided to heed it this time. Bookguy ended up with shrimp and fries. Big Bro ordered a huge beef dinner plate of a taco, enchilada, tostada, with rice and beans included. We also ordered mixed chips and guac. Big Bro had a margarita which looked good to me, but I was driving. I liked the taco which was generously stuffed with beans, lettuce, cheese, and diced tomatoes. I added the salsa from the table. It was excellent. With the chips and flavorful guac, I had a just right lunch. Bookguy said his shrimp and fries were just ok. Big Bro thought everything in his meal was very good, except he wasn't sold on the rice. He wanted another margarita but decided against it and said he should have ordered the grande size. It's amazing to me that the prices here are so reasonable. It's good for families on a budget. They do charge extra for using a credit card. It's not fancy, but it's clean, bright and inviting. We tried to get last-minute reservations (nobody even answering the phone at the Drover - boo) so we turned to a new choice flor us: Johnny's Cafe, a 100 year Omaha institution. Nice to be old; we were able to score an early--bird reservation. Where YOG ordered... ...Mac n' Cheese. (She said restaurant steaks aren't as good as PopPop makes at home, bless her heart). While waiting, we enjoyed nice fresh rolls (yay!) with a chives and cottage cheese ball (not my taste but it's a signature item). Daughter ordered the Petit Filet; it was a bit overcooked but she ate it (bless her heart). I ordered the Prime Rib. It was tasty - perfectly cooked but less tender than what I normally experience. It had no real seasoning crust, but it did have a lot of external silver skin/gristle that should have been trimmed off before cooking. But the meat was tasty, and the price/value was very good. We ended the meal on a high note, sharing Caramel Chocolate Decadence. It was outstanding, marred only by YOG's efforts to shield it from the rest of our forks. Service was exceptional: friendly but not familiar, attentive but not cloying, informative and professional. Kudos to management. So: overall not the best steakhouse I've ever eaten at, but far, far from the worst. (Oh, and YOG tasted all of our steaks. She said they were good but PopPop's are better. Bless her heart !)

My husband and I first visited Memoir for our anniversary, and it was such an awesome experience, especially for a special occasion like that. After we were done doing all of our (admittedly annoying) photography of the awesome ambiance, we finally sat down to order and eat - and the original amazingness didn't stop there! The menu is not gigantic, which I always appreciate - because I get overwhelmed by too many choices. We picked a few things to share, at the recommendation of our server (who was also amazing and made sure we had a great anniversary dinner). They even gave us a card signed by the staff wishing us a great anniversary! Those little extra touches are what really make a dining experience special. We had the Kale and Bacon Dip for an appetizer, which was DECADENTLY delicious. The dip was smooth and silky with a toasty focaccia which went really well together with the two different textures. And we also grabbed the Pork Potstickers, and my oh my, were those fantastic. Delicate potsticker wrapper, with tons of filling, resting in a carrot-ginger dressing that complemented the potsticker fantastically. We were already so pleased, and didn't believe the entrees could top the starters, but they were just as awesome, which should be no surprise. It was easier to share two entrees, because we couldn't decide between two. Our first entree was the Faroe Island Salmon, and it was cooked to perfection, and served atop an indulgent bed of sweet corn risotto that I still dreeeeam about. And our second entree was the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, which was a little lighter of a meal, so was great paired with the salmon dish which was a tad heavier. I would recommend either of these dishes! We were SO full at this point but we knew we had to get a dessert since this was a special occasion. We shared the chocolate torte and devoured it, even with our extreme fullness. It was so fluffy and chocolatey and DELISH. From start to finish, this was one of the best meals I've had in Omaha. The service was on point, the eats were out of this world, and the vibe of the interior is something to behold. If you're looking for an awesome place to have a special occasion meal or just a nice dinner on a date night, look no further than Memoir for all of the above!
