My Mom and I went to Guadalajara Restaurant to eat lunch today. This isn't the first time we ate lunch there. We have eaten at this restaurant several times, for lunch and dinner. I have to say, the service is always excellent, and of course the food is exceptional. I live in AZ where Mexican food is quite popular and this restaurant rivals the best we have in AZ. I love the fresh guacamole they prepare at your table. You can get it without jalapeños if you want. My Mom is allergic to jalapeños so we didn't have that in our guacamole. But it was still delicious. My favorite is the puerco de salsa, and my Mom is a vegetarian, so she usually gets the cheese, spinach and mushroom chimichanga. Today, she ordered the chicken burrito. She said it was excellent. We love the colorful chairs and the pictures on the wall. It is comfortable, clean and inviting. We bring some of our friends there once in a while. My friend loves this place because the portions are large, and yet so tasty! The menu is quite extensive, lots to choose from. We will continue to frequent this restaurant. It is a hidden gem in East York. Not much to look at on the outside, but plenty of parking and has a cute bar inside. You won't be disappointed!! read more

I used to eat here at least once a week. The food is good, however last couple years whatever I eat I'm having bad reactions. not sure if its msg or too much salt but I get bad heart palpitations every time. almost ended up in the hospital last night. sorry but won't be eating here again. read more

First time there since I'm from California I wanted to check this place. Our waiter was not very friendly very straight with no emotions, little too serious for working with people or not liking his job. Our waiter took our orders of seven people without writing anything down. To our surprise the orders were all right. The food was good but the service was not the best we kept calling our waiter to bring things but b4 we finished he walks away. I will say I gave him a double tip just to see if next time he'll recognize me and be friendlier. I will definitely try it ONE more time just bc the food was good . read more

My friend and I stopped by for lunch to get a break from work and parenting for a bit. When we were seated, a young child joined us at the table. She proceeded to drink from my friend's glass of water, take bites of chips and return them to our basket half eaten, and poke my friend repeatedly in the face. There was no parent or supervision in sight for this child. As people who work in food service we were appalled and left after five minutes of no adult interfering. Obviously it is not the child's fault, but we came in for lunch, not to offer free babysitting services to the staff. I've been here 2 times in the last week and it is just a terrific restaurant! I had beef fajitas and the meat was tender with onions and peppers cooked just right. My friend had chicken volcano which is chicken breast covered in onions and mushrooms and some cheese sauce. She loved it. DH had chimichangas and the beef inside them was terrific. (Of course i had to taste his food!) A few days later with another friend visiting I suggested the place. This time I had the chicken volcano dinner. I thought it was a little too salty and will ask them to go a little lighter next time, but, the chicken wAs tender and the vegetables were delicious and the Spanish rice us great too. My friend had an appetizer for dinner- chicken fajita nachos- and said it was terrific. The service is good, the people are friendly and the food is great. What's not to like??? read more

My wife & I visited the Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant on Friday 5 May 2023 at 3pm.. The usual tortillia were served. However it took the waitress to long to return to take our order. The order was served by a bus boy. OUR Waitress didn't not return to check if everything was ok. Which it wasn't, I ordered three steak street tacos, Tacos were received wrap in aluminum foil stacked on top of each other, stuck together (what a mess?) Also I didn't receive my complete order? If our waitress Aidee had checked with us on a timely matter this could have been solved. I requested to talk with the manager. He never showed. Unacceptable!! The waitress did knock off $6.00 from our bill. I will had that my wife was satisficed with her meal. This was our fifth visit to this restaurant. Had dinner here the other night. The staff was very nice and friendly but service was a little slow. The food, which is the most important part, was incredible. The area is flooded with generic Mexican restaurants, but this place stands out. The quality and quantity was amazing. I had a Rio Burrito, which had steak and shrimp along with fresh vegetables and it was great. Could barely eat it all. Make sure you try the banana chimichanga for dessert. Guadalajara is our preferred Mexican restaurant in York. We're tried them all. Despite being a little weirded out by the sketchy hotel this restaurant is attached to, this is our favorite. The tableside guacamole is best when it's the older woman pushing the cart. Tonight it was a younger gentleman and while the guac was tasty, he didn't load it up with garlic powder and salt the way I like. He did add loads of cilantro that made me happy. My hubs had the Texas style fajitas and they were excellent, as usual, but I feel like they could have cooked the peppers a little longer. Two of the kids had shrimp enchiladas and all but licked their plates. Kid three had a combo and sucked everything down but the shredded lettuce. Kid 4 went rogue and had the Mexican wings app as her dinner. Our server explained that they're marinated, baked and then fried till crispy. They were served with white stuff and straight up hot sauce. They looked incredible. Service is fast and friendly. Food is tasty and priced right. I love this place. read more

The first time I went, we asked for hoe meat and there was nothing for hoe! My steak was fried!! The taste was horrible, it lacked salt. We wanted to give it a second chance so we went again, we thought maybe this time it would be better, big mistake!!!! I ordered shrimp a la diabla and a shrimp cocktail, both of which tasted horrible!! My husband ordered meat tacos and he almost vomited because they gave him pure bait in his meat... apart from that the service is horrible, it takes a long time!! Please if you are looking for good food and good service, do not go to this place! it is awful. The service was super fast here when I went. I was just a bit confused because it seemed that I had 4 different servers. When you first sit down there's a kid that passes by with his cart asking if you want table side guac. Now that was delicious. My food however lacked seasoning. Just very blah. this place is awful. i'm honestly shocked by all of the positive reviews. first of all, apparently the ONLY chile rellenos they serve are BEEF... i don't even eat beef... i've never ever ever heard of vegetarian rellenos being a non-option in any Mexican restaurant that offers them. it sure would have been nice if they'd at least have let me know. but hey, that i could easily pin the blame on myself for that. i suppose i could have asked. if this were the only issue, i probably would chalk it up as such and not leave a review, but just quietly never eat there again. no... what led me to the point of leaving a review was the driest, most unseasoned,, most disgusting chicken enchilada i've ever had in my life. good God... the chicken was rubbery, not well shredded, had ZERO moisture, and both tasted and looked like it had ZERO seasoning on it. there was hardly any enchilada sauce. nothing in the enchilada but painfully, inedibly dry chicken. i can't eat this and i'm angry that money was paid for it. the first issue may have been my mistake. it's been known to happen. the second issue is not with me; it's with the overall quality of the food i received. i definitely will not be eating here again. read more

Mother's Day lunch with my Mini Me Scooter and my favorite restaurant. I love tamales having said that their Spanish Rice is pretty bland. The people are always super nice. In town for work from TX and this place is authentic. The street tacos seemed legit and even the steak covered in chorizo sounded amazing I couldn't decide! The food was pretty tasteless.. the only thing that tasted good was the guacamole & salsa. definitely wouldn't come here again. Ok...We have been back to Guadalajara at least 20 times since my last review...Lol. In those past experiences I have to say there hasn't been any problems. The food is spectacular! The service has become top notch. I can't seem to get enough of the carnitas street tacos. The meat is literally fork tender and I love the shaved habanero peppers on top. Went out to get some things at Target and we decided we were hungry so we were headed to Viet Thai on New Year's Day. The place was closed so we kept driving on Market Street and this is where we ended up. The lot was semi-full which was a good sign even though the restaurant wasn't really that busy. They seated us and brought us chips with two dips -salsa and a creamy tangy vegetable dip -I guess this is for non-salsa fans. the Menu is very large and has nice layout with lots of combination and lunch options which is nice if I choose to come back for lunch sometime. We both found many things we wanted to try, but I settled on the Fajita combination which included Shrimp, Chicken AND Steak - the service was attentive and we were diving into our food in a few minutes which was great since we were hungry from walking around the store. I was very surprised at the portion size - IT Was Huge! There was maybe 3 shrimp some chicken and lots of steak and the griddle was covered with grease under the onion and pepper mixture. I enjoyed the spice level and doneness. I got the biggest coke that I have seen at a restauant -it was tasty. I think we got there at just the right time too since it started to fill up right after we were served. I was able to watch some kind of freakshow on Univision in the bar area from my seat which I am not sure added to my experience, but it was something to see. I took the majority of the dish home since it was so large, but the flavor was pretty good - I tasted the guacamole and refried beans and rice was tasty too. I would return based on the service and cleanliness of the restaurant. I enjoyed the food so I recommend Guadalajara if you are in the mood for Mexican. read more

The place was a nice spot and the customer service was very nice. The food however was just NOT IT. No flavor in the fajitas and just over bland. The pineapple was very nasty. I ordered a margarita and that too was just syrup in a cup mix with a bit of liquor. I really wouldn't recommend going unless you are on a diet.
