When it came out it looked great, but something smelled burnt ( a friend at the table even made a comment that someone's food is burnt ) I started eating and it tasted burnt, the bottom toast was burnt that I ended up just eating the innards and left the bread. Stopped in for a late dinner. We decided to try their pierogies and pork nachos. The pierogies were cooked perfectly and the bacon and onions tasted great with them. The nachos were just okay. They definitely needed more flavor. Some smoke on the pork and fresh onions, cilantro and tomatoes might help. The chips were homemade so that was a plus. We went on a Saturday night before a local concert. Unfortunately, they were only two servers on duty so getting served was a challenge. In fact, it was at least 20 minutes before we got our drinks. The server did inform us, but the kitchen was short staffed so it took another 20 minutes just to get our food (burger/chicken sandwich). Then when it came out, my burger was like a hockey puck and the toast was burnt. The chicken sandwich was 2 VERY SMALL strips. But the server didn't come back to check on us so we had no other option but to eat our food. Additionally we sat with empty drinks for most our meal because we didn't see our server. The Bad: The waitress was very difficult to get her attention or even find her, which was frustrating. We ran out of time to get a replacement for the ramen because the place got so busy and the kitchen was way behind on orders and we had a concert to get to, so my son went hungry for a few hours until we could stop somewhere else to grab fast food for him. He did enjoy sharing the pretzel app so he didn't starve. The Ugly: Do NOT order the ramen noodle bowl. This is not the place for that. First of all it's not really ramen. Fun decor. Unfortunate acoustics. It's pretty loud and you can participate in conversations two tables removed if you wanted. They tried to improve that with some shiek ceiling tiles. The Holy Hound has a typical bar atmosphere. We seated ourselves and weren't approached by a staff member for about 10 minutes, but then someone came to take our order. Someone else brought out the food, someone else checked on us later, someone else checked on us after that, etc. Our group all enjoyed our food, and although they didn't have a ton of gluten-free selections, the kitchen did their best to accommodate the member of our group with celiac (who ordered a salad). Both rooms of the restaurant were almost full, and it was loud enough that we had to almost yell to talk among ourselves. Mama and I both had different burgers and both were excellent. Cooked to order and the chef nailed it. Lots of flavor and the steak fries that came with were literally the best I've ever had with a unique but not overpowering flavor. The food was so good that the beer review takes second place for Holy Hound. It's solid...a good mix of craft and mainstream brews should make it easy to find a compliment to your meal. Super efficient wait staff that was also unique...seems like one person takes all the orders, one busses and serves, and one closes out tabs. The boss made rounds regularly to check on everyone as well. Every staff member was the right mix of friendly without being up in your face about it. Lastly, it's a fun and inviting atmosphere. All the patrons were clearly enjoying their evenings. I guess the one "negative" is that it's a really loud place...like a high school cafeteria where you're on the edge of yelling to your companions. When we said they were in the bathroom and coming back the waitress responded "first come first serve" and continued to take another stool away from another party without asking. My find for today was Arctic Panzer Wolf from 3 Floyds. They were fairly busy at 3:00 in the afternoon. Food was great! I had a gooey gouda burger and steak fries. Skip has a cheese steak sandwich. Portions were more than plenty. 2 large sandwiches and 4 beers - $50. Service was good. Only downside is that parking can be a pain, $1.50 an hour on the street. Great find in the Market District area of downtown York. This expansive taproom features over 30 beers on tap plus bottle and canned selections. The menu has some nice variations on bar favorites. I enjoyed the pierogi appetizer which featured a sriacha cream sauce for dipping and crisp-fried pierogis. The crisp texture was unusual but tasty. My companion had the white chicken chili whic was also excellent. Service was exceptional and the staff was extremely friendly. Our server, Tyler, was very attentive but not intrusive--which can be a difficult balance sometimes. We will definitely be back after a most enjoyable mid-afternoon visit. read more

Very nice Brewery right downtown with outside seating along the sidewalk, which is nice on a beautiful day. The beer selection is always good and the burgers are really good. Can get very crowded on the weekends. Little hard to hear when they have live music. Wow, so glad I checked Yelp and saw Holy Hound had such good reviews. We almost went to a different brewery where we've been before. A brew pub, Holy hound has a humongous tap list, as well as cans/bottles. They even have some spirits. Get a designated driver and try the peanut butter stout with a shot of whisky, like a boilermaker, right? We two feasted on a giant pretzel with crab dip, it was covered in Old Bay and was quite the treat. We're planning to return for a burger on a Tuesday, I think. They have half-off specials each day. The service was great, and the place was clean and uncluttered. I loved all the art and memorabilia on the walls, and the colors chosen for the walls. My faves were the hound dog pics. I'd add another star if there wasn't a $2 up-charge for Beyond and a whopping $5 for fries instead of house made chips, but I think I'd try them first. I will try them! I'm one of those people who use Yelp to see what the food looks like, so that's why I have so many pics LOL This place is right across the street from my work building, so my coworkers and I eat here often. Recently I've been trying to eat "healthier" and so I went with the salad and added chicken and bacon. The best part about it? It was GRILLED. Whatever they used to season all of it or however they cooked the lettuce and chicken... SO good and SO much flavor. I wound up not even using my dressing!!! Visiting the York area on a business trip, we were headed to Rockfish Public House for dinner and stopped here for some adult beverages beforehand. The Holy Hound turned out to be a nice choice for just that. There's an impressive, extensive collection of beers, including a small amount of local brands (which is something I like to seek out while traveling). I had the Liquid Hero General Pils and the Molly Pitcher P.B. Porter. Both were great choices. The staff was super nice. It's a pleasant, open enough layout. We were there on a Wednesday night and it wasn't too crowded or loud. Came here for a meet and greet and was very pleasantly surprised! Awesome atmosphere - enough bar space to sit and have a drink and/or food, but also plenty of tables to sit and eat/drink. Also have a back room you can rent for private events. Their beer selection was great - very expansive. Had several options in every type of beer. I ordered a sour (#26 at the time, I believe) and it was awesome! The food was excellent as well. Particularly loved the crab dip and fried chicken sliders. Plenty of nearby street parking from what I saw - though I did go on a Sunday evening, so perhaps it might be harder to find somewhere to park on a busier weekend evening. I do believe there was something like a $10 CC minimum when purchasing from the bar - but not a huge deal at all, just plan to order two beers (or yours and your friends). I've had this bookmarked for way to long! Worth the wait for sure! The venison burger was excellent and earthy with mushrooms and Swiss cheese. The beer selection is great and atmosphere really nice. The fries were some of my favorites. The chicken chili was a served colder then it should have been and wasn't as much chili as it was soup. They were able to accommodate a large group in the back which was nice (without a reservation) even though we were just doing drinks. When we went, they were also doing a brunch which did look pretty good. They also had a bloody mary bar for you to choose your options for what you wanted to add in (cheese, pickles, jalepenos, celery, old bay, etc).
