Hands down the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant around. Their tacos are made on fresh ground corn shells, topped with fresh meat of your choice. The best part is the fresh cilantro and onions they sprinkle on top. They always start you off with complimentary corn chips and dip. The dip includes pico de gallo and another red colored salsa. My husband and I always go here despite living forty min away. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves authentic Mexican food. read more

Bartender did not even speak English, She didn't even know how margarita was made and she didn't want to give us a separate bill bc it wasn't convenient for her, she wasn't even around to serve us most of the time, she was outside with friends chatting. I was in the mood for some Mexican food and decided to try this local restaurant that I've never been to. I read previous Yelp reviews which were pretty good and decided to come here. It's a small restaurant connected to a little supermarket. They have a television that plays nonstop soap operas which is entertaining while waiting for your meal. The unlimited tortilla chips and salsa was awesome -- couldn't stop munching on them! The down side was that the service was pretty slow and the entree I ordered, chicken mole poblano had a weird taste to it. I wish i ordered something else. The rice wasn't that great and the refried beans tasted salty to me. I tried to pour hot sauce all over my meal to give it a better taste, but even that failed. Overall, I tasted better Mexican food than this and wouldn't come here again. read more

Solid food, friendly service even to non Hispanics and a nicely decorated huge place with two bars. What a difference to the indo/Pakistan place next door. This is a nice little restaurant. I had the cheese quesadilla and Chile Rellenos. Both were awesome and their chips and salsa and hot sauce are all really good and authentic. I even got a complimentary tequila as a digestif and I needed it, I was stuffed. Very nice staff and good food. The missing star is because of the parking. It's a little lot and quite full. We had a very pleasant dinner here this evening. The waiter was friendly and fun to talk to, and the service was prompt. We even received two complimentary appetizers. I loved my steak and sauteed onion dish, and my fiance enjoyed his chicken entree. The flan was delicious. The only thing I would have changed was the volume of the music, which was too loud. As other reviews have said, this place has a very small unassuming storefront and is easy to pass over. Based on the reviews my friends and I gave it a try. It's actually a lot bigger inside than you'd think, with a bar in the back. Both the food and service were excellent. The waiter was very friendly and always on hand. Chips and salsa when you sit down. I had the mole poblano enchiladas which were delicious. My friends had no complaints either. Authentic home cooked Mexican food that is excellent. My wife and I used to eat at a similar place in Elizabeth that was owned by a Mexican and this restaurant is nearly identical. Warm tortillas that smell and taste like fresh corn, tasty cooked vegetables that accompany perfectly cooked chicken or beef, and very good guacamole. Tacos are Mexican style, not loaded with cheese or sour cream, although you can ask for that on the side if you like. Nice mix of family / friends / couples; it's a warm and inviting atmosphere. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIANCE! So after church me and a friend always look for a great place to eat, and we did not think this place would be it. First off the neigborhood is very unappealing, and you think that there is not good food around. THIS IS THE real meaning of HOLE IN THE WALL. The weirdest thing happen to my friend and I when we walked in this resturant. We was tranported to another location! Okay maybe not that dramatic but it definitley didn't feel like we were in Spring Valley anymore. This place is tiny on the outside ...but huge inside. The decor was AMAZING. The building is like a optical illusion because of how small it looks outside and how large it is inside. Food was great and they give you a very good portion size. I recommend sitting at the bar, because our bartender was GREAT! Overall we had a amazing time! NO MORE ...STOP READING THIS AND GO!! This place was great. First they bring out complimentary chips & salsa, tortillas & condiments AND chorizo tacos. Then the food you actually order is amazing to boot. The pork tacos were delicately prepared, and the pork was grilled with no apparent sauce or marination but tasted awesome. The seafood soup was also great - no hard to eat bone or shell items. The other reviews are spot on. It is a hole in the wall. It is much nicer inside than you would ever imagine when looking at the entrance. I just came back from vacation in Mexico and I was craving the flavors of green sauce and tortillas. I was not dissappointed. Everything was delicious. I will add what other reviews missed. The sangria will knock your socks off. The service was super friendly and attentive, even to my party of 5 gringos ages 17 to 80. We are all fans of that other famous restaurant just up the block, but after our last meal there the prices had just gone sky high. $38 for flautas and a combo plate. It was great, but just too expensive, and that was take out. Guadalajara had much better service, hecho en Mexico coke, food was fresh hot and nicely presented, bathrooms were very clean, and the other patrons, none of who were gringos, were very friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was back on vacation! I also want to mention the attached store with everything from corn husks to cowboy boots , belts, and pinatas! Clean and we'll organized, now I know where to shop for my next tortilla press. In summary, authentic delicious food in an out of the way spot. Not as sketchy as some have portrayed; the tri states largest Ferrari dealer is just down the road. If it was in a nicer spot I'd add the 5th star. Well worth a visit.
