Brittany was a amazing bartender, very good at make drinks. Food was so good, the chicken tacos was the best.

I've now been here three times and it's gotten worse each time. Today's the last time. The first time I went was for a work lunch. The service and food were good and I thought I finally found a place that actually knows how to make San Diego style Mexican food. I brought my family back the second time and the service was slow. The food was not as good but adequate. Today was terrible. We phoned in the order and were quoted 20 mins. It took me 20 mins to get there and I waited another 20 mins when I got there. They had 5 people in the restaurant. The server did give me a 20 dollar gift card which would be great if the fucking food wasn't absolutely awful. I wish I were making this up but my damn dog wouldn't even eat it when we gave it to her.We ordered California burritos and we each took two bites and threw the rest away. The meat was insanely dry, the shredded cheese inside wasn't melted which suggests they're not making these fresh they're assembling them. And browning them on the grill afterwards. Terrible idea. Dryest, most disgusting burrito I've ever eaten. Additionally, the first time I ate there they put guac, sour cream, and pico inside the burrito. None of those ingredients today. JIC they're reading this, a California burrito is carne or pollo asado, cheese, pico, French fries, avocado or guac and sour cream. This was dry ass old meat, unmelted cheese and chunks of mealy tomatoes. The good news is, if the quality stays like this they won't be open much longer. I really wanted to like my tacos, but they were a miss. I waited over 20 minutes for tacos that were soggy. They did remake my order once I called, which was amazing, but the chicken lacked flavor, and the beef was hard and not very flavorful in that taco. After waiting for my tacos to be remade and checking them immediately, they still were not hot, but they weren't soggy. The bartender was the shining star of my experience because she was attentive and had my tacos remade, even putting the tomatoes on the side in case that's what made them soggy. read more

My daughter raves about this place. I had to try it. The rolled tacos were very good. 2 orders came with a sauce and 1 came with sour cream but I don't know why. No one asked for sour cream. We tried the key lime margaritas. Apparently the bartender did not make them correctly. They did not taste like key lime anything and the crumbs that were supposed to be on the rim were not. We had ordered another dish which didn't come out. When asked about it the bartender acknowledged that she didn't see it and proceeded to put the order in. When it came out it was also tasty. Minus 1 star for the mistakes of the bartender. I will go back on my next trip. Maybe someone else will be behind the bar. read more

Great little place in downtown Portsmouth. Parking is on street, interior is basic and straightforward yet comfortable. Menus are a write on affair of what you want for burritos or tacos. Food quality is good to very good and very satisfying, which cannot be said for most Tex-mex or Mexican restaurants. Service was attentive and good and overall a pleasant upgrade from most places these days. Not much more to say except stop by and enjoy it. read more

I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!!! The food tasted bland. The chicken seemed like it came from a bag of already cooked chicken. I thought the menu said shredded chicken. Either way it was not good. Guacamole was brown all over as if it was sitting. Should have left right then. But to make matters worse, my wife and I are suffering from symptoms of food poisoning. Came in, was told a list of items were unavailable, ordered a margarita and was told more things were not available as well. One of four orders came out correctly (they even have you write down the orders for them on a paper). The toppings on the orders had gone bad and when either of these points were mentioned the server just stared at us and when she finally responded she had an awful attitude. Serving sizes were small and primarily just rice. While I've been told that this is a great place in town, I have been very disappointed in my experience here. read more

I went during lunch and ate in the restaurant. The staff wore masks and provided hand sanitizer. Their menu system was really neat too. You take a grease pen and circle/write what you want and everything is customizable. I got the nachos..my mouth is watering thinking about them. So good. My friends got customized burrito bowls. The 619 Cantina is a very unique establishment. The decor of this place is cool and edgy. I enjoyed the hospitality of the workers (Nat & Zoe) and the management here is on point and up to date. The food came out tremendously fast, and the quality of the tacos were very delicious and seasoned. I highly recommend everyone to come here on Tuesdays because their deals are absolutely phenomenal. Went here for some tasty tacos on taco Tuesday. Food is good, great margaritas... BUT beware of the inflation fee they charge. No one told us about any extra fees, and it was nowhere obvious on the menu, but when we got our bill we were charged a "market adjustment fee" of about 8%. When we asked the waitress, she told us it was a city tax, which was obviously not the case. Food is good, but I don't love when places aren't up front about extra fees. From being super understanding-on the phone to having my food ready and waiting at the door when I got there. With the beautiful weather that we had yesterday I had to get out. Upon my arrival the hostess told me that the outside as well as the inside are now open. That was good to know with each establishment being different during these opening stages. I recently had my birthday dinner at the 619 Cantina on 4/15/1986. I originally wanted to go to a spot in Norfolk, bc that place had Barria tacos and that's what I was craving. BUT, my friends suggested this spot and it was more conveniently located for everyone, so we went. This was my second visit here, the first being on a first date with my now boyfriend. From what I remembered, the food was good, the drinks were too, and there was the sentiment of the date, so we went. The service was terrible. The place was not busy at all, we sat outside, and the waitress was very rude from the jump. She spilled drinks twice on my friends, rushed us to order, didn't explain how the menu worked (you mark on the actual menu), and the service was just trash. Which was disappointing bc she knew it was a birthday dinner. Im not sure if she thought we didn't have money, but I felt so strongly about the service that I decided to write the review anyway. The food was ok this time around, about a 50/50 split on the group. I enjoyed mine, my friends not so much. Our kids were with us and they enjoyed theirs as well. FUN FACT! We paid our bill in its entirety and went back and forth on whether or not to tip. Next time, please don't assume the customer is broke and thus provide bad service. The good Delicious margaritas, knowedgeable staff. Perception of value for food nice portions. My first time, overall a good experience. It was a bit chilly inside but there was a space heater. The food overall was okay. The protein was a bit dryer than I would have liked but everything was well seasoned. One of the bartenders (he appeared friendly and again, well knowledgeable) did a good job of touring the menu, however there were points in time that I felt more of a transaction then a person if that makes since. Again we tried carne asada fries, a bowl and a burrito. I hate that I'm so picky with Mexican food, but theres a standard here guys. This is a burrito bar on high street. There's high-top bar seating and some outdoor seating as well. Normally, you can call ahead for orders but due to Covid, low customer volume and people not showing, they are currently suspending call ahead orders. The bartender was really outgoing and laid-back. She was very helpful in suggesting things from menu. I ordered ended up ordering half of it. Food came out quick. Currently they are allowing you to order alcohol to go too. Portion sizes are nice and big. I ended up giving it a 4 because i feel like you could get a better tasting burrito for cheaper at some authentic Hispanic restaurants. Big favorite of mine before it closed. Went to the reopening with two others and we got a really rude awakening. No more veggie tacos. No more corn tortillas. Tacos not warm. Salsa weird. Cheese = AWFUL. The queso used to be sooooo ridiculously good that I would take some to go, but this just tasted like melted velveeta. My skinny marg was way off. I did see Katie is still working there but didn't get the opportunity to chat -- she would have likely gotten my marg perfect, so there is hope for that. My friend's chicken tacos were cold cold and the chicken looked icky. I don't eat meat but he confirmed it tasted as bad as it looked and didn't finish it. It was also odd that you cannot buy tacos a la carte, two at a time only. I'm going to assume no more $1 taco wednesdays, but I wouldn't eat them the way they are now anyway. This was the best Mexican food I had ever had l, but now is easily the worst in Portsmouth. Salsa and queso used to be better than any I've had. Now they are straight from a can. Tacos do not compare and are bland at best. Moved from glass and silverware to all plastic. Not a good move in this decade. Shows a lack of awareness and is a huge knock on the business decision.
