I always judge a Mexican restaurant by the complimentary chips, and these were actually pretty good! The chips came out hot, which is always a plus. The restaurant has lots of seating, Spanish music playing, and a nice casual atmosphere. There were only about four groups of customers when we arrived, and with four servers working, it did take a little while for someone to get our order. Once we ordered, though, the food came out very quickly and was nice and hot. And they checked on us throughout. The flavor was decent overall. The California fries were really good--they came with sliced avocado instead of guacamole, which wasn't a bad decision. I've definitely had better carne asada tacos, though. The meat was real and had a good texture, but I felt like it could have used better seasoning. My biggest disappointment was the tortillas. They tasted like store-bought tortillas rather than fresh-made, which really made a difference with the tacos. Overall, not a bad spot. The food was hot, portions were good, and there were some definite standouts like the California fries. I just wish the tacos had better-seasoned meat and fresher tortillas. read more

A friend and I patronized LA PARRILLA Mexican restaurant to have lunch. I ordered a "Burrito California" which was advertise as a 10 inch item. I noted all the content of the BC that was listed on the menu and it contained items that I liked. When my food was served it looked delicious and when I took my first cut of the burrito and tasted it, it was delicious. I kept going for a few more bites, and I noted that all the content of the burrito was not there. When I saw the server I let him know that some of the content was missing. The server stated that all the content was inside and he stood there for a few seconds looking at me and I was looking at him and I said OK and I took a couple more bites and there were still missing content, so I cut the "Burrito California in half open it up and call him back to the table and showed him that all the contents were not there: the chorizo sausage and pico de gallo were missing. There was no offer to make a correction, the server just took the plate and left. Came back with a ticket of 3.50 for my drink. The ambience is very fitting for a Mexican restaurant. This was not my first visit matter fact it was one of my favorite places to go when I had a taste for Mexican food and we've had a birthday dinner there for my son-in-law before and we enjoyed our meal and the service at that time. read more

They had complimentary chips with salsa and white sauce. Both sauces were ok, nothing amazing but not bad either. I ordered the birria tacos ($15) and it came out in about 10ish minutes with rice and beans. The birria taco was also just ok. The corn tortilla fell apart and didn't really have that slight sweet taste from being with corn. The meat was tender, but the flavor was quite average. Same went for the consommé, it was alright and got the job done, but could've been a lot better in terms of flavor. Overall the quality was very average for what I got. Typical decor for a Mexican restaurant. The booths were well maintained and comfortable, a lot better than other places. Everything was clean and it was a pleasant atmosphere. The service was attentive. Our order was taken and food was promptly served. It was hot, delicious and accurate. They have a full bar , which is nice. I got the Long Island iced tea. It was well made. The refried beans were some of the best that I have had. The taquitos are large, 3 is plenty! The guac and pico de gallo were fresh. I've been here in the past (mostly in the summer/warmer months) and sat outside where service has been wonderful. Last night I went with my partner and the service was pretty bad. We only ordered appetizers & desserts, but the server (Jaime) was nowhere to be found. We would wait for ten minutes at a time for him to return, and we finally asked a random person to just run the tab so we could leave. We did have good food- we ordered the table side guacamole, cheese dip, and an order of cheesecake chimichangas, and everything was delicious! I hope to never have Jaime as a server again, and I do, I'll probably request a new one. I will come here again, as this was a one time bummer. read more

This place was the absolute best! The moment we went in, we got sat immediately. It was super refreshing from the service we just had at a brewery nearby. They were on top of their game throughout the service, I was so amazed! We got our entrees not even 15 minutes after we ordered. We've been craving for Mexican food lately (especially the white sauce dip). Every time we pass by Harbour View area, we noticed that the La Parilla seems packed. We finally decided to give it a try and we are impressed. Their white sauce dip was very impressive. There's hint of spice in it and since I love spicy foods, I enjoyed it so much. It maybe the best white sauce dip I've ever had. We ordered Fajitas Veracruz (Shrimp and Chicken), Steak Chimichangas, and La Parrilla Especial. I enjoyed the Fajitas especially because there's a good amount of Shrimp in it. I just wished that there's more flavor in it. Per my company, the Steak Chimichangas and the La Parilla Especial were good as well. We ordered Texas Margarita, Margarona (not sure if I said it right), and Piña Colada. The Piña Colada was delicious but I wasn't sure if I like that it was not strong enough or not. I finished my drink before my meal which was surprisingly weird because I usually can't finish my drink. The sizes of their drinks were huge. Their medium is a large at Plaza Azteca but since I finished it faster than the usual, I wished I ordered the large. The staff were great as well. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. She tried to accommodate us the best way possible. However I noticed that some staff are having a hard time understanding english. During our visit, I kind of forgot the Spanish that I learned from school but I would like to think we understood each other with my awful Spanish. So, I ordered myself the burrito vallarta and other stuff but issue is with burrito. Looked amazing tasted amazing until I had paper in my mouth, looks like wax paper so needless to say that ruined my meal. The jalapeño poppers are not hot/mild like you'd think an jalapeño would be. What a great find while visiting Suffolk. This gem was within walking distance of my hotel. I decided to give it a shot and I'm glad I did. The service was fantastic from start to finish. Moments after sitting down, we got a hot fresh batch of chips fresh out the the fryer. The homemade salsa full of balanced flavors. While I didn't order the margaritas on this trip, they did look amazing on neighboring tables. I did have the shrimp fajitas dish. It was beautifully seasoned shrimp with cumin, chili, garlic and onion powder. The shrimp was piled high and cooked in a skillet with plenty of peppers and onions. The first time I went to this restaurant my party watched a kitchen employee go into the bathroom, use it and come out without washing her hands. We confronted her and reported it to the manager. This was my second visit in years as a guest and I ordered tortilla soup. The chicken was so old, hard and dry like leather! It probably was old freezer burnt chicken that should have been thrown away. I wondered why the waiter brought me a lime to squeeze into the soup without asking for it! To add insult to injury the manager refused to take it off the bill! He said it was shaved chicken with no apologies. How exactly do you shave a chicken? They served garbage for food and refused to refund! The staff laughed as if it was a joke! Even the eating utensils were disgusting. The health department needs to get this place under control. Many people eat here at their own risk! These people are out of control! They think we will eat their garbage and then force us to pay for it! read more
