It's really hard to find a bad restaurant in Rosenberg. This Mexican restaurant is among the top Tex-Mex places here in town! Definitely bring your out of state friends! First off, you can tell everything about a restaurant when you ask for the green sauce. This is the signature green sauce everyone asks for especially at taco trucks! The kind that burns your tongue and makes you regret even looking for it!!! So delish! We were seated at a booth right away and our order took less than 10 minutes! The plates were hot out the oven oh my goodness!! So yum! You know your gurl got burn marks hahahaha Honestly, I've been in this area for 13 years and I have always seen this restaurant- which is in the Fiesta parking lot... So I always thought it was a little rundown or sketchy. I am so glad I finally gave it a try today! The inside was so welcoming! I'm low-key kind of sad that I never gave it a chance sooner. It is so charming on the inside and very intimate and great Mexican music. The cheese on the enchiladas were melting, and it had the perfect gravy. My son ordered the beef fajita quesadillas and totally finished his plate. Seriously, Rosenberg has great Tex-Mex selections so put this towards the top of the list!! read more

Absolutely delicious food and 10/10 restaurant for the type of place this is! My husband and his family went here for many years when he was growing up, and we have recently returned to start going together and I think it will be a new tradition for us. Great, attentive service and an authentic ambiance. We love the guac, beef fajitas, and chips and salsa here. Try the green salsa if you can handle the major heat. A friend and I go out several times to eat a week! He told me about the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail! They brought it out and talk about really nice and large! Large enough to be a meal unto its self! Almost forgot, really liked the salsa. Comes out warm with great seasoning! Also the pickled carrots and jalapeños! Next I got two meat enchiladas. To my surprise they had two different sauces. I got the chili sauce but asked if I could try the other. It wasn't bad but prefer the chili gravy. I had to get onions and if I had a touch of comino, it would have been great! While i don't rate it 4 stars, I do think it's a solid 3 1/2. I wish Yelp allowed 1/2 stars! I would go back just for the cocktail! read more

Upon entering I could feel a lively vibe, it somehow felt like a home away from home. Something about it just felt like a happy place - people were laughing, music was on point both times we visited, and it was cozy. Service was friendly and kind, and we were offered sides and drinks right after being seated. The chips, queso, and salsa were all nice and warm and hit the spot perfectly. The salsa has enough of a kick that mixing it with the queso was perfect. Both visits, my husband got carne guisada, and I got the cheese enchilada plate. My husband really liked the carne guisada, and I enjoyed my enchiladas too, they were flavorful and satisfying, though I do wish I had added chicken, the cheese could have used a bit of flavor like the queso had. This was my first visit. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with pico de gallo cooked inside to-go. It came with two sides of sour cream, chis and salsa for a reasonable price. Have you ever been to a restaurant where the moment you enter it's bursting with laughter and what appears as contentment? Those were my first thoughts as I entered the restaurant. Large groups, families and couples filled the two dining areas to capacity. Seating and service was both friendly and prompt. Within minutes of entering the restaurant menus arrive, then WARM Salsa & Chips followed by the drink orders. First, the server brought warm chips & salsa with enough roasted chilies to provide a nice kick but not burn. I never thought warm salsa would appeal to me but I love their salsa plus the warmth seems to accentuate the chilies. I ordered the Celeya Special only because I've never had this before. The Celeya is 2 Xtra Large Grilled Shrimp, 4 Jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, a Cheese Puff which is an inverted, crisp tortilla bowl smothered in warm cheese and served with rice. The shrimp were a bit tough for my liking but the seasonings were delicious. I enjoyed the warm gooeyness of the stuffed jalapenos and the yummy Cheese Puff was a cute idea and easy to eat. I was a little hesitant coming here at first, just based on the outside look of the building and the area, but I am so happy that we came! As I mentioned, the outside is a little run down and you can tell that it's an old building- but don't judge a place by just that. I was thrilled to see so many hispanics on the patio. I don't mean that in a degrading way, but if a Mexican restaurant is full of hispanics who know and appreciate good flavorful Mexican food, then that's a great thing! Our server was excellent and attentive for our large party of 10. We had no errors on our order and he kept the chips and drinks topped off constantly. The food was good. My husband ordered a MASSIVE burrito that he fell in love with and has talked about since. At the end of our dinner, they gave us roses for Mother's Day. I thought that was especially sweet of them. My kid had the day off for Ft Bend County Fair Day and I decided to take him to lunch because he had a really great progress report from school....Straight As! Well, I don't know what possessed me but all of a sudden I had a craving for Guanajuatos! Now it had been awhile since I had been here but I still remembered where it was...unfortunately I forgot about the parade in Rosenberg for fair day and we got stuck in traffic...But you know what? It was worth it! I had almost forgotten how great the food was here in this place and the speedy service was also a big plus! The attitude of the staff here was good and the atmosphere was lively! This ol hole in the wall is worth the commute. I know most of these long meadow farms and other Richmond folk would rather go to places closer to home, but I regret to inform you, those places suck an egg. Guanajuato is everything a Tex mex restaurant should be, cheap, massive portions, fast service, and Mexican staff. Whenever I get tex mex I want a combo plate with all kinds of crap all over the place on multiple plates and I want to pay about $12.99. Guanajuato is a shining example of what tex mex should be, it's a poster child for Houston TexMex. If a friend from overseas came to visit and I had to take them to five restaurants to explain Houston/American food Guanajuato would probably make my list. Finally found our Mexican restaurant! We live in Sugar land and have been struggling to find something that satisfies our Mexican cravings locally ..... So this was a quest meal... For starters, the salsa is spicy and homemade. And there is a spicier verde version for those who like to live on the edge. My husband had Shrimp Enchiladas and I ordered the Chuletas Adobadas. Shrimp enchiladas were stuffed with shrimp. He seemed quite happy as nothing remained on his plate.... The flour tortillas with the Chuletas were PERFECTION! I let the flour residue sit on my fingers in Mexican food ecstasy. The pork chops and Adobe sauce were unbelievable. Cooked to perfection!!!! We did use the remaining tortillas to get EVERY ounce of sauce off our plates!!! I HAD to get dessert and sopapillas were calling my name. They were perfectly cooked. I doubt we will be able to consume any additional food today! I would like to mention the service was exceptional! WE FOUND OUR NEW MEXICAN RESTAURANT! read more
