UPDATE: Guardian Alarm reached out to me after I posted this review and agreed to work with me regarding my issue. I will give them credit that they did follow up and did offer some concessions. The issues I outlined below are accurate, but as compensation, they agreed to refund $113. This doesn't quite make me whole, but it is better than I expected. What the representative told me was that the manager should have offered to send out a tech to unlock my board and only charge me the $85 service fee for doing that. I still don't like the fact that the board was locked in the first place as that ties you to Guardian Alarm even if you paid for the system as I did. No matter what you weren't leaving their service without at least an $85 fee. They informed me that locking the board was for security. I believe if you are going to follow this practice that you should have some remote way of unlocking the board and just do it for customers who are choosing to leave. I still believe if a customer is choosing to leave and has fulfilled their contract and paid for their system they should be able to leave without any additional fees. As I wrote below I paid out $175 to change out the board, which was my only option at the time. By Guardian refunding me $113 I am only out about $62 above and beyond what I knew I would pay to change providers. While I wish that cost was $0 I can live with this and I give them credit for reaching out and initiating it. I was no longer a customer and they didn't need to do anything. It is not like I had any recourse. So I am updating my original review. ____________________________________________________ Be very careful before using these guys. I found their monthly monitoring service to be very expensive. I was no longer under contract with them so I tried to negotiate a lower rate. The only way they would lower my rate was by signing a new 3-year agreement. I decided to switch to another company for monitoring and that is when I ran into trouble. My new company discovered that Guardian Alarm had put a lockout on the mainboard so I could never switch to another company and then refused to give me the code to unlock the board! I was forced to pay an extra $175 to get a new board installed! They did this deliberately so I could not leave them. My system was paid for and I should have owned it and received this code. When I called and requested the code they gave me the runaround and tried to blame my installer. My installer even called Honeywell, who made the system and verified the board had been locked and there was no way in and the standard override code would not work. I actually listened on speakerphone when he talked to them so I know he was telling me the truth. This is a shady business practice and total B.S. I will NEVER do business with this company again. read more

I've been with Guardian for 23 yrs and I've never been happier. I can say with Guardian and the wonderful staff. I always feel safe. I miss my beautiful receptionist may she R.I.H. Read the fine print. They make you sign up for five year agreement. Most other companies are two years. If you move, you still have to pay for five years. read more

The worst customer service. They can't tell when your equipment IS NOT FUNCTIONAL from their end. My sump pump which was supposed to be monitored failed and the alarm never went off so needless to say my basement flooded. I tried to speak to management and they were very uninterested in calling back. The alarm system has not worked since July 2014 when they came to install a new battery. Look at my Angie's List post on this subject as well. I have no idea how long I have not had FUNCTIONING ALARM SERVICE and nor do they. They do not have the technology to know when you are actively monitored or not. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB against them. They are going to get a large audience on their inferior service. read more

I have a vacation home in Florida. And did not think twice about who to call their customer service is always great and I love a real person answering the phone in 2 or less rings. It would be great if they were better integrated with one office instead of dealing with two management teams. But I love the TC phone app! Wouldn't trade it read more

I have been with Guardian Alarm for over a year. I am totally dissatisfied with them. First of all the sales rep lied about the motion detection not being able to detect our pet as he is so small. We have had to resort to using stay home option instead. Second they offer a discount for referring a friend, well that hasn't been my experience. When I referred a friend, they made the appointment, but never showed up. I truely wish I had went with a different company. read more

I have had Gaurdian Alarm service for well over 20 yrs. I haven't had many problems over the years until about a month ago I had a salesman contact me about my account and possibly upgrading equipment. I had an outstanding balance at the time he offered his services to help me out. My problem came after we negotiated a deal and he said he had to check with his manager to get approval. Long story short he took me and my wife's credit information and never called me back. If he didn't want to do the deal he should have said so. I was open to other options but he never bothered to see what I was willing to do. I guess my 20 yrs of business wasn't good enough for him. read more

I have used Guardian Alarm for the past 20+yrs and have had no problems with their alarm monitoring system. Service has always been "above average" Whenever they where called to service my system they where there within 24 hrs. (a non emergency). The only issue I have considered in replacing this company with another Security Monitoring Company is that they do not offer competitive pricing when it comes to a Satellite Monitoring system vs. a Land line system. read more

Guardian are a professional company who worked effectively from start to finish on our requirements of a new burglar alarm (initially) and soon after a smoke / heat system for our newly constructed office / warehouse unit (@ 15,000 square feet). There were some challenges as with most installations but these were worked through well by the Guardian team in conjunction with ourselves. I've had very positive experiences with Guardian Alarm. Whenever my alarm system has been activated, Guardian Alarm has been very responsive. They've called immediately, and sent the police to my home. They are concerned, polite and helpful. I've been very pleased with their service, and when I cancelled my phone land line service, it was easy to upgrade to the satellite service. I especially appreciate that Guardian Alarm is a local company, rather than a company based outside the United States. read more
