We had some concerns about cracks in the basement walls and called on OSW for a warranty…read moreinspection. Ron was great and flagged 5 specific areas his team would come out to repair. Service was scheduled a few months later and they came out on Oct. 21st to do the work. I was surprised there wasn't an excavator, but the four man crew dug out the ground with hand shovels. Didn't matter much, they installed their barriers, topped with their tar compound and filled the holes back up. They showed me what was going on and explained the what/why as they went and left me very pleased. It's been less than a month, but haven't had an issue yet. So far, happy to report I don't expect that to change much either. We would absolutely recommend them to our neighbors, friends and family.

I called to set a time and had to leave a message. I was expecting a call back within a a few days, but the next morning I received a call and we were able to set up a tentative day and time. Unfortunately, I had to cancel that initial date due to a family emergency. Harlon was more than understanding and pushed it back to the next business day for us. The day that the barn was being moved, we met Harlon at the house it was being moved from. It was more wet than we were expecting. He was still able to maneuver his truck and trailer and get our barn up there. He took his time and was clearly very knowledgeable. It was really impressive seeing this big barn being lifted onto a trailer! He hauled it to its new home and easily set it exactly where we wanted it. My daughter is trilled to have her new barn and I'm thrilled that it did not cost $1,000 (which was the first estimate I got from another company). The nutshell version:…read more Wayside sold us a prebuilt cabin that would not meet code in our jurisdiction (Hampshire County, WV). The deal fell through over their failure to meet the local code & permit requirements, and they cheated us out of 25% of our deposit after a year of putzing around. They **knew** that their cabins were not certified to the residential building code, that they had no engineering drawings and that these cabins were only suitable as "recreational structures" in jurisdictions where this exemption from the building code exists. And yet, knowing our property was in Hampshire County where the IBC is fully enforced, no matter the use or size of the structure (our cabin order was for under 400 sf), and that "if you sleep in it, the building must meet code) was the interpretation of the local planning official. OK, so Wayside may not have known about Hampshire County, but it's by far not the only WV jurisdiction that enforces the codes in this manner. They should have either known this, or made the sale contingent upon planning approval. As the contractor, they share responsibility for adhering to all local laws and codes. They cannot simply "drop off" the cabin (which had to be partly constructed on site) and expect not to have to deal with permits, codes and laws. Not the least of which, the requirement to be a WV licensed contractor. So Wayside took our $6000 deposit, then sat and putzed for six months while we pestered them for a delivery date. When we discovered, upon talking to the planning official, that full code compliance was required, Wayside agreed to do whatever it took to satisfy those requirements. This included hiring an engineer to draft and stamp drawings, and filling out and submitting the permit and inspection applications. We wanted to cancel the order, but they insisted they could make it work, and would do so at their expense. After a year, we gave them a deadline: get it done and give us a firm delivery date or let us cancel the order with a full refund. They failed to properly apply for the permits and inspection, so we were stuck with the planning official refusing to grant the permit, or even start the review process. We canceled the order, expecting a full refund. Wayside reneged on their promise to absorb the engineering costs, even though this is a business development cost for them, given that they can now claim to have certified drawings for their cabin. After much back-and-forth negotiation, we were forced to settle for a 75% refund. We payed nearly $2000 for the privilege of being frustrated with these people for two years. And we have **NOTHING** to show for it. They even refused to give us the drawings that we had, essentially, paid for. The point to this story? Research your local codes BEFORE doing business with Wayside, and if your cabin is not code-exempt, buy from someone else.

It was done incorrectly so my husband called to question it. They sent someone back out because they admitted it was not correct and slapped something else up too. Our basement wall continues to bow. In fact the screws holding up whatever contraption they tried to put up, are being pushed out of the wall as it continues to bow. We've had several contractors out to inspect the work and they all have told us how completely pointless the work that has been done was. Pointless. Expensive. Failing. Ineffective. We are considering going to court to try to get back some of the thousands we have wasted.

From the FEW that actually had the courtesy to answer my call, make the appointment, show up on time and then provide a written quote in a timely manner, Jason at AB Drain won the job hands down! He spent over an hour at my house on a Saturday evening going over the causes of the constant water pooling in my yard and answered every question in a way that I could tell he knew his stuff! I made my mind up before he even left my property that night. When I received his quote, he was extremely thorough explaining each step in great detail, something that was severely lacking with the other few quotes I received. The best part was that his price was under our budget and was the second lowest but included much more that the others did not include, such as hauling away the excess dirt from the french drain, grading out the yard afterwards and using high grade piping instead of that black corrugated garbage!! He kept us in the loop approaching the start date and throughout the job itself, providing us updates daily. I wasn't there for two of the days but he took hundreds of photos during the job that were awesome seeing how it all came together and what is now under the grass!! His crew worked their butts off without taking lengthy breaks or talking on their phones all day...God bless them! Jason was on the job the entire time, which you don't see often being that he is the owner. He was just as dirty and sweaty as his crew at the end of the days. It took them 5 days to install 400 feet of french drain, a sump pump and then 300 feet of downspout drains that all drained into a small retention pond he installed at the back of our farm. I won't lie that I questioned whether it would function as he promised but since the install it has poured many times with local flooding even. Those rains would leave out yard as a swamp for weeks afterwards but not now! It all worked in unison and leaves our yard functional, dry and our plot able to take on seed for the first time in a decade without washout concern! These guys are top notch! Jason provided a transferable lifetime warranty on labor, which was not offered by any of the others who submitted bids (and charged more than him)! I would recommend them to anybody that appreciates attention to detail, quality of work, personalized customer service, and an all around professional approach when in a similar drainage nitemare like we used to be stuck in!
