I really wanted to like this company because they started out great, but things quickly went downhill. After a few months, they began skipping services, which caused my pool to turn green multiple times. When I asked about it, they convinced me the issue was my filter. I trusted them and replaced it through their company--only to later find out they weren't being honest. On top of that, my technician kept trying to sell me used products, and every time I raised concerns, the office completely ignored me. I've never been offered a refund or even an apology. We hired Guardian Pool, managed by David Fredericks, to renovate our condominium pool in Miami. The association paid a deposit of $24,500 for the project. For 13 months, Mr. Fredericks repeatedly assured us that the pool renovation would be completed. However, the work was never started. We later discovered that Guardian Pool does not hold a valid license to operate or perform pool work in the City of Miami Beach or Miami-Dade County. Despite this, the company signed a contract with Normandy Shores Condominium Part II, Inc. to perform the renovation. We have requested a full refund of the deposit, but Mr. Fredericks has refused to return the full amount. Instead, he began issuing installment payments toward the down payment without authorization from the association. I question what you would call a company that knowingly signs a contract to perform work they are not licensed to do within the city or county--this appears to be clear fraudulent conduct. read more

We had Guardian Pools do our pool service for about 16 months. They had a problem with an employee (that seemed to be doing a good job for us.) In any case, we discontinued the service agreement with them on January 17th, before the January charges were due. They assured me that we would not be charged going forward. They ignored that service termination request and charged my credit card on January 20th. I called them multiple times to get the credit. They agreed that they would issue the credit but that never happened. I finally had to dispute the charge with my credit card. The owner, David, called us and makes claims about how he is dedicated to being a customer service guy. Our experience is that these claims are hollow and that he likes talking about his excellent service more than he likes delivering excellent customer service. read more

Dishonest billing, they know they did not service my pool in weeks and still billed me for it. Customer service is non-existing, we have called to try to cancel and leave messages with no call backs. They didn't show up as scheduled and after I canceled their service after 2 weeks of waiting, they showed up two weeks later and dumped a bunch of salt into my pool! This sent the salt ppm to 6,000+ppm and caused my salt chlorinator to have a fault due to the excessive salt! If I hadn't been monitoring my own numbers this would have burned up my chlorinator and caused $2,000 in damage! Now I have to drain my pool 6" at a time over several cycles to dilute the salt which takes days! Never again will I use this company! Pool maintenance is better done by the home owner to ensure it gets done right. read more

Our credit card is being charged after cancelling service. We had called and cancelled service on April 22 due to a no show again. Originally the owner had been eager to resolve a problem and did what he could to have a solution. However, after several attempts we wanted to cancel our service since it was becoming more inconsistent again and a no show. We spoke with the person who took the calls and I was told it was no problem our credit card had been charged the day prior for the upcoming month so we were to be refunded and the card would be taken off file. This did not happen. A technician called on April 25 apologizing for not showing up the previous week and begged to keep the service. We reassured him it was nothing personal it just was no longer working and we decided to end our relationship with Guardian Pools. After several calls and speaking with the person who took the calls, we were told accounting was taking care of the matter and we would be refunded the charge for the service that we had not received. May 22 2023 we were charged again for a service that had been cancelled, never received, and was told would be refunded. After several calls the owner finally returned a phone call. We were told there must have been a mistake with accounting and we were going to be refunded for the 2 months that was charged and had not received service for. The owner said it could take up to 72 hours. We gave it a week. Still no refund. No return phone calls and this company still has our credit card on file wrongfully charging after service was cancelled. read more

I currently have 9 cameras installed in my house and I can see what they do and don't do. I have caught the technician lied several times stating he added chemical and did other services which we totally not true since I was watching him through my camera. I've hired a lot of contractors and company services in the past, and I can say without exaggeration that Guardian Pools is the best I've ever worked with. Lance, the owner, is not only down to earth and a pleasure to talk to, he STAYS that way until the very end. Many contractors, it seems, are only like that in the beginning. Once you hire them, they drop the act. Lance is the real deal, no act needed. And Rick, the expert who came to find out where the leak was in the plumbing that prevented pump suction? He found it within 10 seconds, just by walking around the yard and listening. He pointed at the ground, and yes, it was there- a tiny hole in the pipe. Underground. I asked him how he knew that that was the exact spot, and he winked and said, "Trade secret." Yes, these guys are good. Pump's working perfectly now. Their personnel are friendly, dependable and well-trained. Horace is thorough and respectful during his weekly visits to clean and service the pool. I have found Lance Thibideau, the company owner, to be particularly competent and responsive anytime we have ever had a question or needed advice. He stays in contact personally and is easy to reach. Additional update. The Guardian team came out and fixed our broken check valve. The pool spa water was low at certain times of the day. They identified the problem during their first visit, when offering us a quote. We finally got around to approving the work and they did a flawless job, finishing the work in one visit. Over the past 10 years that we've lived here in Fort Lauderdale we've struggled through a number of pool service companies, to finally end up where we should have started - Guardian Pools! I called them and made an appointment for someone to meet me at poolside. Lance, the manager, arrived on time, listened as I rattled of a litany of issues with the pool and with our current service company. He asked a lot of questions and then did a thorough inspection of the pool and the pool equipment and then did a complete analysis of the pool water. He gave me a proposal to do some equipment repairs before he would sign us up for weekly service. I expressed my concerns because of my past experiences but he reassured me that his people were most capable and gave me his personal guarantee that I would be satisfied. A repair technician was out the next day and completed all the recommended repairs The following day, Pete came around and, introduced himself as being our weekly technician, cleaned the pool and informed me he would be out every Thursday. So far our experience had been most impressive but IT ONLY GOT BETTER. Within a few days our pool was the most beautiful shade of blue and the water was crystal clear. I had not seen it like this in a long time. It has been over a year now and Pete shows up at our house every Thursday like clockwork and does a complete and thorough job. I have been using Guardian pool for at least 15 years, and I have never been more pleased with a company! They provide consistently excellent service, and when I need them to come out, they immediately respond. One of my giant potted plants blew into the pool yesterday, and I was unable to get it out because I broke my leg. I called Lance and he had someone come out this morning and not only take the plant out out of the pool, but re-clean the pool and clean the patio area where mulch and fertilizer had spilled. In this day and age, I find this level of quality service to be a rare find. I highly recommend this company, and as long as I have a pool, Guardian will be my go to Company! I called this company to get a quote on repairing a serious leak. The PVC pipe had cracked in the area that goes back to the pump, in the skimmer area. Spoke to Lance, had someone come out. I was given and quote to do the job - price seemed good and they started the job right away. After this was completed I was told that there was another crack down a bit deeper, which they also repaired and charged a very reasonable price to do this extra work. I'm SO pleased that i chose this company. Excellent workmanship and service. i would recommend them highly for any type of pool service or repair. I also want to mention that i did call 2 other companies and they wanted to charge $300 just to come out to look and give an estimate. Guardian came out at no charge to give the estimate. I wrote a earlier review for Guardian Pools last year that was filtered out for some reason. I will try again because this company deserves recognition. Our pool is unscreened and has numerous water features, so it is quit difficult to service. We have been with Guardian for about six years and Horace has been our weekly service person for over four years. Horace does his job exceedingly well and never seems to have an issue with our complicated pool. He is polite, punctual and goes out of his way to please. Anytime there has ever been a mechanical issue, Lance, the manager, has always been quick to respond and made necessary repairs promptly and efficiently. Our pool always looks beautifully blue, clear and inviting. Last year we suspected a pool leak, called Lance and he had a a technician out the next day. They located the leak in the skimmer plumbing, under the deck, which turned out to be a pretty large job, but they stayed with it for three days until the job was completed. Before they left the job the premises were cleaned up wonderfully and everything left clean and orderly. My family appreciates and gives kudos to this fine company. read more
