The worst customer service ever.. Lost my purse for 3 months wouldn't return my calls regarding my repair.. I will never purchase Gucci again due to this location. . Then when I get there they look for the bag again for 20 min..I call ahead before I even head to them to make sure they have everything in order and open for business (Saturday 12-6pm)it was -4° that day so I was pissed.. I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place. I am not a huge fan of Gucci leather goods and accessories unless it's vintage, but really love their shoes and ready to wear. This store is generally understaffed, but when you finally do get someone, they are friendly and unpretentious. One time, I got a pair of sunglasses. The sales lady had a small collection to show in a display case. Since I was indecisive, she suggested a pair for me. "These are the ones that Brad Pitt wears", she lied. I don't know why that was my deciding factor but I ended up getting them. I looked more like Jennifer Lopez than Brad Pitt. Out of stock of products and make no effort to get one in from another store. A few weeks ago I wanted a purse. The stoer only had the store sample available which they wanted to sell me (this one had been man handled and it showed). I was not going to pay over $1K for a greasy old sample bag and I asked if they could get me a new one. They said they could not and this is the only one they had and this is the only one they would sell. I then called up the Gucci store in Somerset Mall in MI and asked them if they had the same purse in stock, which they did. They mailed it to me the very day and it was brand new, shiny and untouched by the masses. Why could the store in Chicago not do the same? Gucci is very nice! I've had both positive and negative experiences with the associates, until I began shopping with ERIC SCHARDT! He's great! He is very knowledgeable of the designer goods that he sells. Since shopping with him, I refuse to use anyone else. Psst: A LARGE selection of their merchandise goes on sale at least twice yearly. One is during the summer and I think, but not sure, the other is shortly before Christmas. The sale is amazing. It starts off at least 50% off, I think. So, unless you see something that you HAVE to have, I recommend waiting until it is marked down!! read more

After my experience with Gucci last weekend, I was surprised to read about how everyone else got such great service. I went in with my boyfriend to give him some Christmas ideas, and everyone who helped us was totally snotty. The shoe guy was a dick, and the woman helping me in purses made it seem like a total waste of her time to get down a couple of bags I wanted to try on. A ten year old girl was there with her mom picking out a bag, and that little rugrat got better service than I did! I was there on June 15th to get a gift for my nephews graduation. Apon entering the store we were greeted by friendly staff and asked if we needed any assistance. I have been to this store many times before and have purchased a few items, so I have a pretty good idea as to what to expect. We took a look at the bags on the first floor and EVERY single employee was beyond amazing! Now moving up to the second floor was a different story. We went to see the slides and were waiting, looking around for I would say 10 minutes. Finally someones was near by who seemed to be free, her name was Danna. When we tried to approach her she seemed super annoyed and did't really even look at us, she was too busy looking at the couple next to us who were looking at clothing items. But we still needed help, so we ask her if we can see two different colored slides, a red one and a black one, in a size 9. She brings them both out, really quickly and leaves us to try on for a few minutes. We told her we like both colors but would like to see the next size down because they seemed a little big. When we asked her that she very rudely responds with, "which color, because I don't want to bring them both out." In my opinion, if I am asking you to if we can see the slides in a smaller size, i wouldn't think it's that much of a haste to bring them both out, I mean she did bring out the first two rather quickly. At this point she made us all feel SUPER uncomfortable and rushed, so we just went with the black slides. She took the slides to the register and I was going to do some shopping for myself, but after having that type of experience I did not feel welcomed at all so we went to check out. We go check out and she rings us up, super unfriendly, no smile what so ever and not even a 'thank you, have a nice day.' I go downstairs and ask some SA's if there was a supervisor I can speak too. The SA's ask what it was in regards to and I told them the story and when they asked me who it was that was treating us that way and I told them it was Danna. The SA' responded with 'Oh, she is a supervisor, I am so sorry about that' and he just assured me that he would pass along the message to someone. I'm not sure if he did or did not get the messagae acoss, but I think this is completely unacceptable. Maybe she treated us that way because I got something as basic as slides? I have defintely spent more than $2,000 on a purse there and was treated AMAZING that time, was even offered champagne when looking and trying in purses. So I guess at this store the difference in service is based on how much money you are going to spend. I really hope someone from upper management takes a look at this and disciplines Danna because a luxury retail store should treat all their customers with respect, patience and care. read more

I have never experienced worse customer service. I bought a bag here 2 months ago and took very good care of it. The sales lady promised me this purse would not turn blue from denim like another Gucci purse did that my mom bought (which they refused to fix). When I showed them how horrible the purse had held up and how it already had turned blue (and I wear denim maybe twice a month), they were SO extremely rude. They said after 14 days, there was nothing they could do. The lady told me I need to take better care of it and I asked her how. She said well there's nothing you can do and it just wears. I was so frustrated that this expensive store has horrible standards and can't even promise their products will last longer than 2 months. Jonathan knocked it our of the park! We have been looking for a specific bucket bag for months, but none of the stores in LA had it. While in Chicago for the week, we were elated when Jonathan brought it out for us. He provided superb service and even gave us great spots to check out while in town. I just love this store, I buy all of my purses and shoes here and have even struck some great deals on their dresses during their sales. Now my husband on the other hand may as well open up his own Gucci store, there is nothing in his closet that doesn't say Gucci, so he usually drags me in there during his shopping sprees. The staff is very friendly, we've walked in after the gym, in sweats and gym shoes not looking great at all and we're always greeted with warm smiles. Recently they have gotten a bit pushy, but I think that's due to the hard economic times, their sales are probably down. I expect more from an Italian brand. There is a bully in this store and his name is Sergio G. Upon my entrance to the Gucci store. Sergio was the first to puff his chest and greet me at the door as I enter through the tough to open revolving doors. I was wearing a trench along with my scrubs under after a 14 hour long night shift. I planned the return to the store in advance to exchange the "Marmont Matelasse" in a size small that I purchased by the nicest sales associate Jing Z. (it was only her third day at work but her service went above and beyond). However, my second visit back was not as pleasant. I showed Sergio G. the bag I wanted to exchange. My reason was simply I wanted the mini and I wanted the best version of the bag the store had. Specifically, in regards to the leather. I pointed out that the mini bag that Sergio brought out had a lot of creases and asked if I could see another one of the same bag. Instead of offering to bring out the bag Sergio G. tells me, "This bag is not for you". In the rudest tone and manner. He stares down at me and simply states, "You do realize the leather will eventually crease?" I responded kindly, "Of course, overtime I know the leather will look like this (pointing at the visible creases), but if there is another bag in the store that isn't as creased, I would like to purchase the best version if I'm buying it brand new". Sergio G. still hasn't offered me to bring out another bag. So at this point, I asked to speak with a different sales associate. Sergio, immediately got defensive because he was offended and blurted (loudly & proudly), "I'm a 25 year veteran in sales here!" He continues, "Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you?" I told him please stop, I just want to see another associate. He continues...so I asked him his name and he whips out his wallet and shoves his card in my personal space. He says, "HERE!" "I will even give you a copy of my card!!!!" (I never asked for his card). He was being blatantly aggressive. From the beginning to end, Sergio doesn't know how to listen to customers. He is rude and boastful about his experience. Once the managers hears our conversation she finally steps in and offers to take over. At this point, Sergio is still not finished proving his point that he is a 25 year old veteran and he knows what he is talking about. After another version of the mini bag is brought out. I could visibly see the difference in the leather. One was noticeably smoother than the other (creased). Yes, I understand overtime the bag will crease, but in the moment of purchasing a new item, I want it to look new as possible. In the end, I am spending my hard earned money on a luxury brand. Continuing on with Sergio. I told him, I'm coming to Gucci after a long shift and I am being treated horrifically. He turned the situation onto me and blamed my "long hours of work (14 hours) as to why I am in the mood I am in". I couldn't believe him. Even if this may be true, which it wasn't because I am a luxury fanatic and it makes me so happy to be around so much Gucci, I would never blame someones long hours as to why they are not happy with a product or service. In the end, his 25 year veteran experience has nothing to do with me wanting to see another version of the same bag. If he had brought the other version out, I would have been extremely thankful. Don't get me wrong, Sergio doesn't represent the entire store. Everyone else was very kind, especially Jing and I want this 25 year veteran to know how poor his service was and he should be embarrassed to ever treat a customer in that manner. It makes me wonder what damage he has done to this brand for the past 25 years. At Louis Vuitton across the street, this kind if behavior and service is unheard of! They staff the professionals, and his 25 year veteran experience got him too comfortable. I felt bad for his colleagues who deal with his behavior. He is clearly a bully to all staff and doesn't have respect for the Manager. He was blatantly rude to me in front of the whole store including: the cleaning lady, other sales employees, customers. I looked around, and if I were Sergio I'd be terribly embarrassed. Looks horrible on Gucci Brand. I also see a common trend in these reviews about service. This review is 100% honest and should tell you a thing or two about the service at this location. read more

By far the worst managed store on Michigan ave. I waited 15 minutes for a sales person on the second floor. Decided to go down to the first floor where there were 3 sales people together chatting. I told them what I was looking to purchase and they told me it was on the second floor. I said I was just on the second floor and there were no sales people available. They said we know none are available. It wasn't until I said I'll leave and make the purchase at another store that one of them said, oh I can go up to the second floor and help you. Too late! My entire transaction was a nightmare from the very beginning. I bought a bag about a year ago that turned out to be a defective bag. When I came into the store to drop off the bag for repair the associates seemed very confused on how to handle a repair. After they were able to find someone to help me, I was told I would hear back within 7-10 business days. After 3 weeks of not hearing anything I called the store. An associate by the name of Tracy (I believe she is considered the Service Coordinator), informed me that they were made aware that this bag style was defective (Shouldn't someone have reached out to clients that bought the bag to inform them of this?). She then proceeds to tell me she had attempted to contact me several times. Clearly, this wasn't true. I had fallen through the cracks and instead of being honest about this she tries to convince me that she had been calling me constantly during those 3 weeks. Attempting this deception is a bad idea when people have caller ID. All I needed to do was pull up my call logs which showed that wasn't true (Also, if you have tried unsuccessfully to get someone via phone, wouldn't you email them? Which is what she finally did after I complained that I hadn't heard anything in 3 weeks. She finally called and emailed me). Tracy tells me I can come into the store and receive a credit for my bag. I go into the store a few days later just to be told Tracy wasn't working that day and she was the only associate that could help with my transaction. I confirm what I'm being told because clearly that is ridiculous. I ask the associate if he is sure that only Tracy can help me and wouldn't a manager be able to assist me with this, and he says no (okay, so, I'm to believe that only a store level associate can assist me with a transaction?). Of course at this point I am beyond livid. I came there from work which is on the other side of downtown (Financial District), and took me 20-25 minutes to get there. I call Client Services later that evening to discuss what was going on and they advised me to call the store the next day and ask to speak with the GM. I call the next morning and asked to speak with the GM directly, the associate who answered the phone is not interested in getting the GM on the phone. They asked what was going on and I told them and informed them of the entire situation and expressed that Client Services suggested I speak directly with the GM. Instead, they put Tracy on the phone. She then goes on a rant of how Corporate is being very generous by giving me a credit for the bag to shop for something else (Wait a minute, Corporate is being generous for replacing a defective bag they sold me in the first place?). She then goes on to recite my address to me and tell me I don't live that far from the store when I explain how this has all been a major inconvenience. I'm thinking are you kidding me right now. You are now telling me where I live! To sum this all up. I was completely shocked by this level of service. I will not say I will never shop at Gucci again because I have no idea what I will do 20 years from now. However, I will say this, I have no intention of shopping with Gucci in the near future. And I am so dumbfounded by this interaction that I can't stop telling people about it. Seriously, people say, "Oh, your bag is cute." And I proceed to tell them this entire story about everything I had to go through to get it and how the service at Gucci has really changed and not to expect much. I get that I am just one customer of the many that you have, but at a time when consumer preferences are changing, no retailers business is safe. Please let this situation be a teachable moment. 1. Don't lie to your customers 2. You are not in the business of doing your customers favors. You serve us at our pleasure. We can shift retailers whenever we desire. 3. People spend more time talking about their bad interactions then they do their good. It's a force of nature, it can't be changed. read more

I don't mind my return being rejected. As we all know, this stuff sells for a profit in the resale market. But when you're deliberately mislead and sent on wild goose chases, that's where I draw the line. Last week (on my initial return trip) I was asked about some missing, magical tags and where they are. I explained that I was sold the item without these mystical tags. My fault for not being more observant and demanding these "tags" that unlock the secret to happiness. Then, I was told the item showed signs of wear and it could not be resold. Further, if I dry cleaned it, I could return. Went back today and was told the color was off and that they "would have NEVER told me to have the item cleaned". The manager was aghast. Imagine how I felt. Basically, she was accusing me of trying to return a used, fake item. Nice! Next time check the card I used and see how much I've purchased at your fine store. I've returned or attempted to return nothing until today. And now I myself will never return to your brand. Arrivederci, Gucci! You will not sell a single item to me ever again. Shame.
