I always love coming into Nordstrom when I'm in the area. It is a great place to shop and enjoy the air conditioning on hot summer days. I recently went in for a complimentary free styling session (booked online) with Megan. She took her time with me and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. She really gave me the full VIP experience. I'll continue to shop at this location when I'm in the city. It is clean, well-organized, and luxurious. **Kari's Rating: 8/10** *(Would easily be a 9.5/10 if the beauty department weren't so overwhelming.)* TL;DR * The beauty associates are *far* too aggressive--it feels impossible to browse without being approached every few seconds. * The café is still one of my favorite places in Chicago. * Free alterations on Nordstrom purchases and $25 for outside items is a huge plus. I've lived in River North for over eight years, and honestly, there's no place quite like Nordstrom. I grew up coming here with my mom, sitting in the café, eating pizza, and leaving with a "Nordy" balloon. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories, and to this day I still think about their margarita pizza. Now that I'm older, I bring my dog shopping with me, and she absolutely loves all the attention from the associates and other shoppers. We've been to the café countless times, and she would unquestionably give the kids' chicken and veggie meal a 10/10. Nordstrom is still my go-to department store because it's convenient, consistently carries the brands and style I wear, and the customer service outside of cosmetics has always been excellent. It's the first place I think of when I need clothing, shoes, or gifts. That said, the beauty department has become incredibly frustrating. I completely understand that many of the makeup associates work on commission, and I genuinely respect that they're doing their jobs. But there is a huge difference between being available to help and making customers feel like they can't exist in the department without being approached. Every time I walk through the makeup area, I can barely look at a product before someone is asking if I need help. If I say "I'm just browsing," another associate from a different brand approaches me literally seconds later. Then another. Then another. It gets to the point where I'm being interrupted every few steps. Instead of enjoying the experience, I feel anxious and rushed. I don't get to compare products or discover something on my own because I'm constantly trying to politely decline conversations. It honestly feels less like shopping and more like running a gauntlet. Ironically, the constant pressure makes me want to spend **less**, not more. I've actually skipped buying products because I just wanted to get out of that section as quickly as possible. I still love Nordstrom and will continue shopping here because it's my favorite department store and has everything I'm looking for. I just wish the beauty department adopted a more relaxed approach. Customers should be able to browse comfortably and ask for help when they're ready--not feel like they're being followed every few seconds. read more

I have shopped at this location 3 times during my visits to Chicago. Being from NYC, I miss shopping at department stores and I don't have that opportunity now residing in central FL. The first time I visited, hubs was with me and we just browsed the store. We were planning on getting lunch and stumbled across the marketplace cafe so decided to stop in. I also stopped at the cafe during my second visit with my dog! Nordstrom is pet friendly, as long as your dog is well mannered. I absolutely love that! This location has 4 floors. There are several designer boutiques on the 1st floor like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Faragamo, and Burberry. Every associate I interacted with each time was very friendly and welcoming. Some even gave treats and pets to my dog! My third visit was more quick. I had to return some items and that went smoothly. I actually interacted with the same associate I purchased the items from originally (Curvine S.) and she was so great! She was very helpful when I purchased the items since I left my Nordstrom card at home, and guided me how to use my card on the app. Great customer service at this location and I will definitely be back the next time I am in Chicago. read more

I had not shopped this location in quite some time even though it's near to me. In past, I had failed customer service where the ladies in Lingerie Dept were gabbing and ignored me. Then the shoe salesman who sold me boots and I did not have my "cheaters" so I could not check the boot tag myself. He had ASSURED me he did. I bought them and at home I checked and nope. I usually shop the Nordstom's in the western suburbs and am comfortable with the smaller, less frenzied shopping experience. With that said, the employees are very kind! My mother is not tech savvy and she was struggling with her Nordy points, but the cashier was exceptionally kind and generous with her time, even though we were there a week before Christmas and the store was a madhouse. Nordstrom is known for their excellent customer service, so it's no surprise that I give them 5 stars. Three recent incidents that made my visit enjoyable 1. I went to the 4th floor to pick up my online order. A line was forming so a personnel took her handheld device and started working the line so we don't have to wait for the counter. I was out in about 5 minutes. 2. I was clothes shopping on the three floor and went to try on the clothes. The lady saw my stroller and immediately offered me the larger fitting room. Once I was done, she got me the larger size that I requested while I waited at the register with my stroller, and she checked me out. 3. I stopped by the le mer counter to look at the products. Book an appt. Tell them your age, size, style, and budget and they'll pick out clothes for you with zero pressure to buy. I have no idea why more people don't take advantage of this. Love this store. Came in from out of town to shop for the day. Started out in Nordstroms but didn't spend too much time looking around as we planned to come back when it was darker out and colder. We parked in the ramp so it was perfect for when we were circling back to the car. When we came back around 6pm Nordstroms was closed for a private event. This event was not posted or mentioned anywhere in the store during the day and it would've been nice to know they were closing early so we could've shopped more earlier. Disappointing since we love to shop at Nordstroms when we visit Chicago. read more

I used to like shopping but now, I hardly have the patience. After enough internal whining, I stuffed myself into an Uber & arrived at Nordstrom. Haven't been here in ages but was hopeful I'd still receive the great service & selection I did long ago. (While Old Orchard was closer to me, their service was poor & really soured my experience.) I'm happy to say I did. Sandy was extremely helpful with finding "that pair" of jeans - she understood my needs. I must've tried 8-10 different pairs of varying brands & ended up getting 2 I was absolutely in love with. I would have a third, but there wasn't a lighter color available at this time. I'll surely be back though! Afterwards I headed for the MAC counter. I am by no means a make up person & will wear the bare minimum but what I had at home was just not working out for me. I was super happy when I was approached first - Nicole was really warm & friendly! I asked for help finding the right shade of foundation / make up. She found tones I was really pleased with - I was shook. I am a potato at home but I needed help de-potato'ing for my trip & just looking more presentable in general. She felt this, lol. If you're pressed for time or just dreading the struggle of shopping, I definitely recommend this location. The staff is amazing, helpful, & genuine. This was my first time actually shopping in a Nordstrom and not just walking through it. I was shopping for a dress for a wedding and was in town for a conference, so I was shopping on my own. I was actually surprised by how size inclusive it was for the women's section since I am not familiar with the layout that Nordstrom's usually has high, can be anywhere from a large to 0x depending on the brand. (14/16) There was like a specific plus size area, but it wasn't labeled as such and had several brands that were also on the other areas in that place. Many brands also had a size XXL I ended up finding a total of nine dresses to try on that were in the price range of 150 or less there definitely were a few that were well over $300 that if my budget fit that I definitely would have tried on but I didn't want to even try them on because I can be a bit impulsive sometimes. The staff was very helpful when I was in the dressing room. She checked in on me a few times to see if I need a different sizes and also helped me zip up one of the dresses that I could not get zipped all the way. She was also really patient about me checking out because when it came down to it I had five dresses that I liked but only wanted to leave with 4, so I was waiting for friends to get back to me with their opinions on my phone. I've never felt so unwelcome at a Nordstrom. First, we headed to the Cafe and no one was behind the counter. We started to walk away and finally someone came out to help us. Then, we walked around in the store for about 15 minutes before anyone asked if we needed assistance. Several employees stared at me, but didn't acknowledge in any way. I am a big Nordstorm shopping because of the nordy rewards from my card. This Nordstorm is huge and possibly the biggest one I ever visited. They're 4 floors and they even have a bar on the 2nd level. I think that it very unique and cool besides the typical EBar in which they have too. My boyfriend made a special trip here to go to their bar. I love the fact that I can use my Nordstorm card and earn the points. Due to COVID seating is limited. Its a nice spot to chill out. Definitely good idea for men who will opt for a drink at the bar and watch the spots of the TVs while the women shop. Creative! The only Nordstorm I seen that have this. This Nordstorm stands a part from the others I have visited despite its bigness. I highly recommend stopping here for some shopping and drinks all in one stop. This was my first time shopping in a Gucci retail store and it felt like a real life Pretty Woman experience. My friend and I were visiting from out of town. She purchased a bag and I purchased a pair of sunglasses. Christine Young was very accommodating. However, it is very clear to me that these employees work on commission after I texted her inquiring on how to return my sunglasses, which I loved, but were just too big for my face. They kept sliding down and would have been super annoying. It took an email and a text before she responded and, even after that, I had to follow up to remind her to send me the return information. Then it was like pulling teeth to get a response. Perhaps the most irritating text response was in response to my question "Will I see an email or just received a notification when credited back to the card?" Her response was "ok thanks." If I were inquiring on how to PURCHASE something, I know the texts would have been responded to with more care. After confirming on a Friday that the package was received (again due to my follow up I did not receive any notice), I called the store the following Tuesday evening as I had not received anything back on my card. After a brief hold, a manager came on the line, apologized, and said he was not sure what happened but the had the glasses and a return had not been processed and that he would take care of it right away. I do feel that if I had not followed up a few days later the glasses would have magically made their way back to the inventory and it would have been my word against theirs that they owed me a credit of nearly $600. Moving forward I will make my purchases online where I would have more peace of mind in the return process....and not been made out to feel lesser-than for returning an item that simply did not fit. (Maine) I loved that the entire second floor is dedicated to men's fashion and the sales staff throughout the store were very helpful and kind. Stay at The Gwen, a hotel connected to the mall, if you like to shop, I highly recommend it. The cafe was very busy but good, I was able to get a coffee pretty easily and there was lots of seating. The store is immaculate and service was totally on point for Nordy. They had so many make up chairs! They also had so much nice, plentiful, well stocked inventory. The store was so festive and employees were buzzing about everywhere. 1st floor ebar!! 2nd floor actual bar!! 4th floor Nordstrom Cafe-this makes me so happy since many other Nordy's have changed their signature Cafe to joint ventures w various restauranteurs. I do not like this change, I love Nordstrom Cafe! We bought two pairs of shoes from a very helpful, well spoken man w a warm accent (some type of Caribbean maybe?), and great clothes/appearance/service . Again, great Nordstrom level service! I very rarely go shopping at brick-and-mortar stores these days. Online ordering is super convenient and I don't have to deal with people. Also, in my opinion, customer service has gone way downhill lately, especially post-COVID. However, I visited this Nordstrom location in person twice in the past two weeks. I also contacted them once by phone. There really are no words to express what wonderful service I received at every touch point, from in-store sales associates to cashiers to the alterations team to the people who answered the phone when I called the store. This is the kind of customer service Nordstrom has always been known for, and that I felt had been slipping when I visited other locations in recent years or dealt with online or phone customer service. I really like this Rack!  The shoe manager is amazing and incredibly helpful, as is all the employees.  I love the free parking, and they have a great selection as compared to other locations. They sell great brands here for pretty cheap, and for a Nordstrom Rack, this location is pretty clean. The workers here are very nice and I've never had a problem with anyone. Most have very friendly and personable personalities. Wait until they have additional discounts off that's when you find the best deals. Their shoe department is awesome. They sell Nike, Adidas, Michael Kors, Steve Madden, Hunter boots, Converse, and much much more. I bought Nike shoes for only $60! So worth it! But store was a bit disheveled, I know sometimes they just cant keep up with the mess customers make. read more
