This hotel would get full stars from us if it were not for the paper thin walls. We could hear everything not only from our rooms but from out in the hallways as well. It was very hard to rest. We also wouldn't mind if they upgraded or enhanced the interior design a bit. It's a bit sparse in the rooms; for instance, it would be nice if they jazzed up the jacuzzi area inside the rooms that have them, and also jazzed up the hot tub area outside (such a PNW thing!). I have revisited my previous 2-star review, which mainly centered around extremely rude service from one of their staff, so as to downgrade it to a 1-star after reading 'Micah's reply, not only to me, but to several other reviewers, as well. Forget about the paper thin walls, funky 70's decor and smelly rooms- all of those things are true, but if you want to see for yourself the REAL reason not to ever consider staying at this establishment, just read through some of this Micah character's replies to people on here. Pro's: Pleasant staff, room was as expected based on pics. Clean, average size room for two queens, dresser and full closet. Appreciated the nice size fridge and having a microwave. Two chairs and large TV nice too. Beds seemed really firm upon initial sit test but ended up sleeping fine and room seemed fairly quiet even having someone next to us. Really enjoyed the warm breakfast offering. That morning it was self-made waffles, sausage links, mini cheese egg omelettes, various breads and tasty muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cold cereal, juice, milk & coffee. Perfect before checking out and starting your day. Cons: the toilet and tub were together ( separate from sink counter) and in tight quarters, toilet too low and too tight to wall making your elbow hitting the toilet paper roll and awkward to use. Had a dog, nice they accept but charged $60 (no dog treats) if weigh 50lbs+!! Odd they put dog guests next to others without. Offer coffee in the breakfast dining area all day but was barely warm both times we went. Ended up just warming in our room microwave. Should offer more TV channels/cable etc. Other wise would still stay again, probably without the dog. read more

The hotel was recommended by friends. It was clean, and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, I accidentally left my personal hair dryer behind--which I fully acknowledge was my mistake. I've tried reaching the hotel by phone, but no one has answered, and there were no options to leave a message. I recently stayed at the Guesthouse during a working trip. My group ran into a number of issues regarding the schedule of the task we were out there for, but Micah, the general manager of the Guesthouse, bent over backwards to make sure we had a great stay. We were concerned with needing to move rooms or hotels due to our trip being extended on short notice. Micah told us he would keep an eye on their vacancies and hold rooms for us if something opened up. This was extremely helpful as our group has started 12 hour shift work at that point and could not really handle hotel issues. Micah was able to not only have rooms for us, but made it so we did not even need to change rooms. Beyond just the staff helping us out as much as they could, the hotel is in a great location. You can walk to downtown Poulsbo and there are a number of amenities in the plaza right next door to the hotel. The hotel is kept clean, they have laundry on site, and provide free breakfast every morning. The hotel is not too big and is dog friendly, I met a number of four legged friends on this past trip. Regardless of for work or personnel travel and if I am in the Poulsbo area, I will most certainly be staying at the Guesthouse. It has been a great location to stay at over the years and will continue to be well into the future. read more

I have to be honest -- the reviews of this place made me apprehensive to stay here. Glad we stayed here this past weekend, as some of the reviews here are harsh. There is no elevator, but it's a 2 story hotel. You really don't have to walk too far. It's not a fancy hotel, if that's what you're looking for. The location is perfect - in the heart of downtown Poulsbo, and away from the noisy main streets. Check in was easy, service friendly. We came with our dog, and cost $20/night (under 40 lbs). The room itself was clean, with a nice big tv and speedy wifi. It comes with a complimentary hot breakfast (they even had the blueberry flavor to make your waffles). The walls were on the thin side (could hear our neighbor coughing) and the bathroom toilet was on the small side (the toilet paper roll was pretty much smooshed next to my legs). These seemed minor compared to all the positives. Overall, it's a clean, comfortable, friendly hotel situated in a great location with fair prices. It has AC/heat, and even a nice area in the back for the pups. Would def come back to stay here next time were in the area! read more

I wanted to visit Poulsbo for a few days. This place had a lot of good reviews and was very close to downtown, so I booked a room. The positives - lots of parking, room was clean, friendly staff, beds were very comfortable, and the big tv was great The negatives - basically, the bathroom. It was very cramped, but if that was the only problem then this review would be four stars instead of three. Toilet always needed to be flushed twice. The bath tub did not drain well at all, which was a little gross. I'm not sure how nobody caught that before they put someone in the room. read more

Staff were really nice and kind. Free breakfast was good as well with a clean dining area. However, I took a shower before heading out and noticed a severe mold problem in the ceiling lights in the bathroom. I've included two photos to help you see. The floors in our room were also very bumpy which was kinda weird. Not bad for overnight stay and staff are great, but the mold needs to be checked out. Giving three stars for great staff. read more

I checked in on the 25th and booked through Expedia . I booked a stay for two nights and prepaid . Only booked because we were out of power . Our power was restored the morning of the 26th ! When I went to check out the front desk reception told me to call Expedia and I could be refunded for checking out and not staying the second day . When Expedia called the front desk I was standing right there on hold with Expedia . The guy told them that since it was past 11 that he could not do a refund , after I was just told that they would . Mind you I was on the phone for 45 minutes trying to get through to Expedia and kept getting disconnected. Regardless the guy was just being an ass for no reason . Boutique hotel that is a great in value as my family of 3 paid just over $120 per night for free "hot" breakfast with bacon, waffles, cheddar omelets along with yogurt, cereal, and all other foodies kids love! Hot tub was so nice to relax in as we took advantage of it for 3 days we were there. Night time, internet was really fast for all 3 of our gadgets, very impressive! I asked about the internet and I was told that they dug their parking lot to get fiber optic cable in for the guests. That says in all! This hotel looks to do what they can to make our stays more enjoyable. Our room had a fridge and a microwave which is very convenient for families with different needs. I needed my beer cold and my wife and my daughter needed the microwave to pop some popcorn to watch a movie. Overall, 5 out of 5 in our books! read more

We stayed here on Sunday and it was bad from the moment we checked in. We arrived a little after 4:00pm and was told to wait because their server was down and they couldn't check us in. When we got checked in, I had to swipe my credit card about 4 times before it went through. When I went up the stairs to the room, the room key did not work on the door so I called the front desk. After the room key was fixed, we went out. When we returned, the room key stopped working again. When I called the front desk, I was told I needed to go back downstairs because my credit card didn't go through. I booked the room through the Red Lion website so my card was on file. The room is tiny. If you sit on the toilet, you cannot close the door. The area behind the toilet is brown. The next morning, I grabbed two bagels to go for breakfast and they were both moldy. At least the bedsheets looked clean although I noticed they only go 3/4 of the way down the bed so a quarter of the bed sides is exposed. Motel is in need of an update. We were in the room next to the "Linen" closet and it looked like we were on the top floor (motel has 2 floors) but it sounded like someone was on top of the floor we were on because we could hear other people move and cough. I was shocked that from the upstairs hallway (no elevator available) we could hear every word clearly from the conversation the person on the first floor was having from their room on the phone. read more

My family of 5 went to Poulsbo for my birthday and we found a great Boutique-like hotel called the Guest House Inn Suites! What a great value! First, we loved our weekend getaway to nice little town called Poulsbo- just a smaller version of Leavenworth (Scandanavian cities). Hotel had everything our family needed! We had adjoining rooms so all of us had plenty of space. Room was nicely decorated and furnishings looked very new. We loved all the outlets the room had, I think there are over 10 plug-in outlets. Never seen so many in my life but very necessary with all the gadgets we all have these days! Fridge and microwaves in our rooms were very convenient, most hotels only has 1 of 2. Got the wife's approval on cleanliness as wife owns a cleaning company and the hotel passed her OCD! Kids loved the buffet breakfast, especially the fresh waffle station. Me and wife loved their omelet and sausages! Also, very fresh fruit-bananas were perfect as lots of other hotels has bananas that are too green or too old so they were perfect for all 3 mornings. Loved the FAST internet!!! With so many gadgets everyone has, kids were playing their games without any glitch at all-very rare! We also used their huge hot tub in their courtyard on 2 out of 3 days. Very relaxing! Overall, just great memories in Poulsbo and the hotel stay & awesome service was a big part of it so thanks Guest House Inn Suites!!! read more

This place was decent. Clean and quiet. As for amenities there is a breakfast that I didn't try and a spa that we did try. It's outdoors in a concrete courtyard. The hours are 10-10 and several rooms look out onto it. Was hoping for an early morning soak before we get away. In the best sense of the phrase, there is a certain guest house quality to this Red Lion property. I know, I stayed there for a month this summer while my newly purchased home was being renovated in nearby Port Ludlow. You feel like a guest while you're there, and they do everything they can to make sure that feeling continues throughout your stay. Here are the pluses in my mind. They may not be priorities for everyone, but for me they certainly helped make my stay (mostly) pleasant during an extremely stressful and tiring period of time (making a move from another state and having to deal with delays in getting a new house ready for move in will do that to you). 1. Outstanding housekeeping. I have stayed in some upscale properties over the last few years and Covid did a number on this often taken-for-granted service at hotel properties. I have stayed 3 nights at some and it was an act of God to get fresh towels, much less get coffee replenished. The Guest House has DAILY housekeeping and one of the best staff teams I've even seen in that department. They did a remarkably consistent job during my stay and I rarely lacked for anything. Terrific job. 2. Free breakfast. No, this ain't the Four Seasons and you won't get a made-to-order omelet bar or 12 varieties of freshly cut fruit and homemade granola, but it was consistent (can you tell that's important to me?), clean and well maintained and constantly restocked by two women who rotated as the dining room's major domo and take great pride in their work. I have lost weight this past year, so I ate the same thing every day to help keep it off and I appreciated things like boiled eggs and low-sugar yogurt, especially. Well done. 3. Front desk staff. The people working the front desk were always responsive and helpful to me with my various requests. And most importantly, the evening I had a vertigo attack that left me vomiting and disoriented, the woman working the desk called the ambulance for me and made sure I was taken swiftly and without fuss to ER. Of course, the hospital did nothing but let me wait for almost 4 hours and I returned to the hotel with the dizziness resolved, starving and exhausted. But that's another story...4. The GM (Micah) was always helpful and in one case where my in-room fridge was freezing everything I put in there, he actually replaced it with a newer, functioning unit that worked perfectly. 5. Windows that open. I think I had my window open for 80% of my time there and it was a delight to sleep in the cool, fresh NW air. Lovely. 5. Parking. As I was in the process of moving, I had my car with me and needed it often for jaunts to a myriad of places while there. I had the same spot almost every night, conveniently situated right outside the back entrance closest to my room. I couldn't have asked for better placement. 6. Convenient and varied takeout food options for dinner since there's no restaurant. Nice to have everything from a Denny's to Thai, Chinese, Burger, Mexican (2) options within walking distance, as well as a bank, drug store, Dollar Store, barber and UPS Mail Store. Well situated and convenient. And the downtown tourist area is less than 10 minutes away. Now, a few things that I wasn't happy with, yet I realize may be my own personal priorities and not necessarily the hotels. 1. Noisy neighbors. Several nights I had extremely thoughtless, noisy neighbors. My rate necessitated having two double beds (although considering I was there for 30 nights, you'd think they'd have upgraded me to a king) and being in a room with an adjoining door. I hate having adjoining doors. And considering I had asked for the quiet section and was there for a month, I was disappointed and how many times they stuck loud guests in that adjoining room. But, it's a guest house, right? 2. No elevator. Really? The fact that they haven't installed elevators in this large property is beyond me. For anyone "of a certain age", having to schlep up two flights of stairs to come and go from your room (although I preferred the upper floor) was a pain, and a noisy one, too. Time to look into a capitol expenditure for improvements, Red Lion. 3. Fox News. Every single morning I was there, Fox was playing in the breakfast room. I would change it sometimes while I was there, only to find staff had changed it back again the next morning. The last two days, it was changed after I brought it up, but Micah needs to know what a negative trigger that is to many of us to have that radical-right misinformation outlet set for hotel guests to have to ensure. And if it is a reflection of the political POV of the hotel, they have no idea what a turn-off that is to 75% of their guests. I would not accept that again and have made it a point to mention it at any property I've stayed in the last several years. Bottom line, treat this as a guest house, not your overnight resort or party hotel for a weekend getaway. It's a great option for personal or business travel. read more

I can't even believe how awful my stay at this hotel turned out to be. It would take too many words to fully explain, but I slipped on the carpet on what was supposed to be my last day, got a concussion, and instantly became the manager--Micah's--public enemy number one. I asked for no special treatment, never asked for any help beyond my daughter requesting that the front desk clerk dial 911 when I was first hurt, and had assured Micah that I had no intention of seeking any sort of compensation. The extension to our stay was fully paid for, and we were packed and ready to go well before the stated check-out time. What really upset me was that when we called the hotel we intended to move to, to ask if we could check in early, we were informed that "someone" had called to say they shouldn't allow me to stay--leaving me in a situation of being injured, with my doctor having told me to rest, avoid stress and not to drive. We literally had turned on our keys and were heading out the door, with me in my wheelchair, and our luggage on a cart, when we ran into Micah. I think I had reason to be upset by this point, and I was, but although I may have spoken sternly, I never even raised my voice, let alone offered any threat. Micah openly mocked my injury, told me to take my complaints up with the carpet company, said the other hotel had called him to ask questions about us, and that we had twelve minutes to get out before he called the cops. I still can't wrap my mind around what happened, why he behaved that way, with such indifference to his hotel's reputation and to basic human decency, and I probably never will. All I can say is don't take the chance of staying at the Guesthouse Inn. You won't be a "guest" and the manager seems unstable, to say the least. There's good, bad and terrible customer service--and then there's Micah. read more

Great service, super clean, all amenities I look for- free breakfast, internet access, gym access, no pool but a huge hot tub, free parking. This place was pretty rough, though not totally sketchy. The check in process took forever and the front desk clerk treated me as if I'd never stayed in a hotel before. Also, the room I was assigned was an old school adjoining room with only a single door. All evening I could hear every word of the conversation of the neighbors, good thing that was all. We had family stay here over the weekend and could not have been happier. The staff was great upon check-in, they were able to check in and get settled quickly. The room was quiet and clean and the housekeeping staff were great at making sure they had everything they needed. It was one of the best hotel experience I had in my life as I travel a lot for work. -Best internet speed! We have known the GM Micah and his family for a long time and they are one of the most warm and welcoming people out there, and this so clearly extends into their livelihood as well. We flew into town for a wedding and stayed at this hotel, and they were so attentive and accommodating. It was our first time staying at a hotel with our baby, but they made sure we had a crib and everything we needed ready to go when we arrived. The complimentary breakfast was right downstairs and just what we needed in the morning with a tired baby on our hands. Their location is settled nicely in the middle of Poulsbo, with downtown, good food, and gorgeous parks all within close driving distance. Would definitely recommend staying here!! read more

Mediocre. Fine place to sleep in a pinch but wouldn't stay here again. The front desk was not welcoming or very helpful. The room smelled like musty, wet dog. The bathroom was very cramped. Overall, the room/building seems very outdated and old. The room was clean enough, although small. The location is very convenient, less than five minutes from downtown. The breakfast was alright, what you'd expect. The breakfast attendant was nice and helpful. Very limited choices for those with food allergies. This place had more of a motel feel. When I called to ask about the charges they would not explain why I was charged and kept me on hold and did not say if they were looking into why I had more money taken from my account. For all I know they were making a damn TikTok. When asked to speak to a manager I was told they "sometimes" come in and may or may not be there for a few hours if so. We are a military couple that just moved to WA from overseas. We chose GuestHouse originally because it was dog friendly and in a great location (walking distance to downtown Poulsbo!). However, we were blown away by the superb customer service, the great free breakfast and the cleanliness of the hotel!! Micah, one of the managers, is possibly one of the sweetest, and most helpful hotel employees we've ever encountered! Being in a HUGE transition has been stressful, but he has made sure our mail was delivered to us, and that our general needs were met daily, as we stayed at the hotel for over a month while house hunting. He is the epitome of GREAT customer service. House keeping did a SUPERB job cleaning our room, and since we have two furry critters, that is no easy feat! They are also so sweet and accommodating with our schedules, since they could only clean when we were not in the room. Lastly, the women who worked the front desk were also incredibly friendly and helpful. They always had smiles on their faces, and and were happy to accommodate all our small silly requests! Honestly, we have never been at a hotel where every single employee did their job with excellence and a smile on their face! Would recommend this hotel to EVERYONE!!!! read more

I'm not normally one to write a review especially a bad one. I travel a lot TDY for the Department of Defense. I'm on the road at least three weeks out of a month. Checking in was a terrible experience, the front desk girl's personality was not at all welcoming. On a three week stay here I leave my room on a Friday morning not to return until Sunday late ( staying with family over the weekend). I was locked out of my room. Went to the front desk same girl informed I was locked out because Sunday morning they had to call a plumber the whole hotel was back up because of me. I had wet wipes in the room and was accused of flushing them in the toilet. Toilet was a two flusher when I got in it last week. And I'm in the last room on the wing. If you read the reviews the hotel its old and a little tired but it is clean. The one desk clerk on the weekends you can tell doesn't like the type of work and needs to move on. Will be moving back to Bremerton WA next trip to stay in a hotel there. Will be doing my best to get this hotel put on the no stay list in DTS system. read more

I usually go down to the Inn and Suites, which is good too for my purposes. Really just needed a place to sleep. It is nice that I also got a frig, microwave, coffee pot. BUT the star of the show was the ADORABLE young woman who "manned" the breakfast cafe. She was amazing. The place was spotless. Every table was quickly and effectively cleaned. Every item was constantly refreshed. She was also personable. I am sorry I did not get her name, but if you stay here, you will definitely gain from how well she does her job. The Service - horrible. The front dest girl just had a crappy attitude. It's like we were wasting her time and keeping her from answering the phones. We arrived to check in. (Reserved online through third party). We had three rooms, she states that as requested, she was unable to keep the rooms close to each other. Which was not a big deal because we were only there for one night the first part of our trip and another night at the end of our trip. She never smiled. She was really rude when asking for our names and trying to find our location. The Hotel- I can't believe how much they charged. This is basically a motel 6 with continental breakfast. There are no elevators/escalators. Just stairs. When we checked in with our group my husband was speaking to the front desk. A family member asked me if I know where the elevators are. The front desk girl rudely replies "if you're looking for an elevator we don't have it, that's why there are stairs right there" First of all, she wasn't asked the question and she should have been paying attention to the person she was talking to. THE SMELL- it smells like mold, mildew, smoke that was trying to be covered up with febreeze. It was gross. The carpets were dark and dirty at the same time. guesthouse at poulsbo is by no means reliable ; nor do they care for the concerns or issues of the consumer/customer/client ! they don't explain about their policies until after they've sucked you in to booking at their property and then you are told there is no way to cancel and get any type of refund for your reservation - your stuck paying and they don't give a shit what your issues are { medical - emergency - weather you name it ! } you're screwed ! then they have the gaul to try and blame a third party for their apathetic business operations ; especially during this covid-19 crap ! they actually told me " the no cancellation policy & the no refund payment due is their property/business policy ; no exceptions " ! then they have gaul enough to blame a third party after they told me the cancellation policy over the phone !!! we have a medical emergency that is stopping us from going to washington for this visit and they don't even try to be empathetic , just a no - we don't give a shit , you're paying !!!! read more
