I been a few times now and honestly I really like this spot. The first time I ever went was on a Sunday in the evening and the music was SOOO good. I had the rum punch that night and they do not play about their drinks. It was strong and the big pitcher is definitely worth it because you can share it and still feel like you got your moneys worth. If they had a DJ like that every day I really feel like the place would get even more traffic. I went back on a Tuesday and a Friday and the vibe was good both nights. Tuesdays are their Taco Tuesday nights and that's when they do the $10 hookah which is honestly such a deal. And the hookah is actually good it lasts long and doesn't taste burnt or weak. The happy hour prices in general are really affordable. The burger is sooooooo good. I don't know what they doing in that kitchen but that burger has been on my mind. It's juicy seasoned well toppings fresh literally one of the best burgers I had in a minute. The wings are really good too. I had the lamb chops and they were just okay I just didn't like how they placed the sauce on top. I think they should like she like cook it in the sauce or like try to find a way to master that but the way that they had it I didn't like it at all. The Caesar salad is good. The margaritas I've had better it was more like syrup but it could have just been the bartender cause I know that that could play a part too! It's always cold inside every single time I have gone it's freezing if you go and don't like to be cold just make sure that you like dress warm because it may make you a little bit uncomfortable but I think it's mainly just for circulation of air. Went here on a weds night with two friends for happy hour. I think it's great for chill get togethers with friends or even a date night if you aren't looking for anything too fancy. The ambiance in here is nice and cozy. It has a green/flower wall for pics. The service was good. We decided to sit at the bar and Eddie R was our server/bartender. He was very good despite it being very busy and him being the only one. Prices are pretty good as well. They have some good happy hour deals and they have specials depending on the day (check their IG based on the day you're going). Drinks: the margaritas were pretty good. I had the passion fruit and mango. The passion fruit flavor was light, the mango flavor was heavier. Food: I wasn't really hungry, we just wanted things to snack on while we drink. We had the buffalo and lemon pepper wings. We ate them so fast I forgot to take a pic lol but they were good. The lamb chops were good as well, the flavor was pretty good. The mussels were really salty, which took away from me really enjoying it. If it wasn't salty, the sauce would be perfect. My friend decided he was hungry and ordered an entree which was the Honey Garlic Salmon W/Mash & Broccoli. The plating could be better. An amazing Black-owned restaurant in the Williamsburg area with impeccable service from start to finish. I absolutely love when a restaurant's owner/staff take pride in what they do and fully deliver. I've been wanting to come here for a while now to experience their infamous SunDAY FunDAY brunch experience. Now that I finally made it I see what all the hype is about. GuestHouse surely didn't disappoint whatsoever. We were greeted with a smile and immediately seated even though we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation time. The brunch menu came out shortly after. Their brunch starts at 1 pm and when we arrived at 2 pm there were only one or two tables occupied. Once my best friend and I started catching up and began sipping on our bottomless mimosas/bellinis, the place filled up before we knew it. They also have a DJ for Sunday brunch (around 3 pm-ish). Food: We ordered some fries as an appetizer to snack on while we waited for our main course. We decided on the southern fried chicken and waffle for our main course, as per our server's recommendation. Even though the portion was on the smaller side (they could have given two waffles instead of only one), we were really pleased with the presentation and the taste. The boneless chicken was crispy, juicy and seasoned to perfection. One negative is our appetizer came out at the same time as our main course. Drinks: There are four delicous options. Mango, pineapple and strawberry mimosas. They also have peach bellinis. Their bottomless drinks come in beautiful, pre-made in standard size (750 ml) bottles. Initially coming here I thought this would be a place where music is playing & some people doing a 2 step, but this is more so an intimate setting kind of feel. They have music playing, but it's low & the they have dim lights. My cousin & I came out just for some drinks & appetizers so we ordered the mussels which were really good, fresh & a nice portion. We also tried the lollipop lamp chops which were also very tasty. For our drink, we tried the "mister softee" & that was also potent but smooth. There is a bar in the front of the restaurants & the seating area can seat maybe 20-25 (rough estimate) people. Our waiter was polite & professional which I always appreciate good customer service because most times it can be challenging. The only thing I would wanna provide constructive criticism on is, gratuity is automatically added just for dining & I don't agree with that. Gratuity should be for parties of four or more, but not for a party of two. There was a wait for our drinks & when we came in we noticed the other 4 tables had no food on their table, which the likelihood of all of them just coming in right before us is too ironic, so there might be a delay with getting entrees. Additional money for specific entrees though. For drinks you are given a whole bottle of Andre, which makes sense because those bottles are inexpensive. Drinks 7/10 As for food....My friend ordered chicken and waffles, I ordered steak & eggs with a side of home fries. I asked for my steak well done and no cheese on my eggs. Our food took forever to come out and it was weird because the people who came in after us maybe like 30 minutes after us got their food before us. Finally when the food came it wasn't even hot. My steak had some pink in it and my eggs had cheese on them when I specifically asked for a well done steak and no cheese on my eggs. So I had to wait even longer for them to correct my food. My steak had some flavor, eggs were cold and bland, and my home fries were cold and had decent flavor. Food 1/10 Our server sucked and I can't remember his name but he had a neck tattoo. He also had a female sitting at the bar who had most of his attention and it was only annoying because he did a bad job checking in on us and simply just doing his job. But when we asked for the check, he gave us the check in less than 60 seconds, just ridiculous. Service 1/10 The bartender was then slightly arguing with customers and I heard her say "well I have paying customers" and glanced over at my friend and I. Didn't seem too packed - maybe this is a newer restaurant but it did seem a bit chaotic at first when I came in in terms of staff and how they were acting. The Malibu express was pretty tasty in terms of drinks. The pasta was also fine, I do think the flavors were good but wish the shrimp were de-tailed and/or cut up but flavorful regardless. I think the fried chicken was where it kind of fell short as I don't think the dish itself was super warm, either the cornbread not being super tasteful and soft and also spicy a small plate for the cost of the dish ($26). There was an up charge for the lamb chops just for them to be horrible. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles her waffles were burnt and the 2 chicken strips were stale and mainly breading no chicken. She asked the owner if she could get better waffles and he changed them but they still tasted bad. We were screaming out of fear and disbelief!! The RAT ran right downstairs to the kitchen area smh!! The Owner who I found out name was Diddy, came from downstairs and I called him over to the table and told him what happened. All is said to me was "where did it go"? I told him down the stairs, he goes down the stairs I assume to look for the RAT. He comes back upstairs after a while and sits at the bar like nothing happened. I am very disappointed that he didn't have the decency to even apologize or even say that he would take something off of the bill because of what we just experienced. First time being here, and last. Wasn't interested in the "karaoke", hookah, or the 2 TV's streaming sports. I was totally grossed out!!! The owner was there..and my friend mentioned to him that there was a rat - he was in the kitchen when he heard us screaming upstairs. All he said in a calm voice was "where did it go"? Now mister...if this was truly an unusual thing, as an owner I'd be so apologetic and embarrassed about my patron's experience. But based on how calm he was..I could tell this may not be unusual. The owner went down to the kitchen, came back up and went right back to his seat and finished smoking his hookah and watching the game. SMH! Say something to your customers; at least look like you're concerned about this huge health violation. We just gonna ignore the elephant (in this case rat) in the room??? To add insult to injury...we get our $160 bill which probably still wasn't correct after asking twice for it to be fixed...But two $16 salads turning into $48 is crazy work!!. We asked for the bill to be corrected..he took off $8. We had to ask again for the bill to be corrected because our salads should only cost $32, not $40 and definitely not $48. Gratuities were included in the bill...and rightfully so our waitress was nice and professional. But the rat, and lack of communication from the owner kind of overrides that positive experience.
