Dayyyyyuuuummm where did this Indian food come from?! I was sitting at home and decided to order a Deliveroo. And that is how Guglee came into my life. The two dishes that I can very highly recommend are the Prawn Mapas and the Makhni Dal. The only time I've ever had black dal was from Dishoom and I assumed it could never be topped. WRONG. Ok, well I'm not sure if it's better but it's still absolutely delicious. Shoot, that Makhni Dal was really so spicy and creamy and silky and jam packed full of flavours. The Prawn Mapas also. Those spices are seriously special. The yellow tadka dal was still good, but it wasn't quite hitting those notes that the other two were. :) Either way, I was pleasantly surprised by Guglee. I had never heard of them before, and I'm now a big big fan! read more

This is a great little place! For those who have said it is the BEST Indian food around, I think that might be debatable, but it is a casual, clean place, with a modern take on Indian food. My naan came out piping hot, and it was quite fresh. The lamb curry was also good, but I've had better. All of the staff members were very friendly! Additionally, they have free wi-fi, which is a perk for foreigners like myself! I really liked the artwork on the wall. The tuk tuks, pictures of the Taj, etc - reminded me of my trip to India. guglee is the best Indian restaurant in town - that's it. Modern Indian cuisine and excellent service We have been there 2 or 3 time now and have nearly tried everything on the menu. The dishes are perfectly considered to balance flavor. The freshness of the ingredients and the loving way in which they are prepared comes through with every bite. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it, Lovely restaurant with very friendly attentive staff ,top quality and tasty meal, best curries (chicken tikka masala),(murgh xacuti) I have had - so full of flavour, extra tastes, just more than the typical bland curry which has become the norm. This is trendy place. This is a place for people who love food. I got an amazing thali dinner here tonight while my boyf got chicken tikka masala (really creamy and unlike any I've tasted before!) and veggie samosas. Thali is my new favorite thing--an assortment of small dishes on one big tray. I love the variety of flavors, but I'm glad I had my guy there to help me eat it because it's a lot of food. Guglee is very bright and clean, the staff is friendly, the food arrived quickly and was delicious. They don't come to the table much to refill drinks unless you wave them over and ask for it, but they are basically standing there watching for you to wave them over :oP They also do free delivery in the area, which I will definitely take advantage of in future, and you can order online from their website! During a recent trip to London, we were advised to dine at Guglee and try Swiss Cottage's "Best Indian food". Apparently that title is a big deal because there is a large amount of Indian food in the city. While I can't argue the food was good, you didn't get much. Had I known the menu was a la carte, we probably would have eaten elsewhere. Not because the food wasn't tasty, but 9 GBP pounds (14 US dollars) is a lot of money for a serving of chicken. Rice and bread are extra. I was also upset that we were charged 2 pounds (3 US dollars) for "tap" water because the waiter thought I said "still" water - which was served in a carafe. For all I know, it was tap water. In the end, we ordered 2 different kinds of chicken; "sweet" and "spicy" (both flavored with curry). We also bought rice and bread. While we were filled up, it wasn't enough to take leftovers with us. That cost us 35 pounds (54 US dollars). As for the restaurant itself, it's got modern decor and is small but clean. I can't say I'd pay that much back home, but we did enjoy ourselves. read more

I always walked by this place with a skeptical perspective: "Modern" Indian cuisine on Finchley road? Hmm. I was finally coaxed while looking for a restaurant open late on a weeknight (11 pm!) so braved my way inside Guglee. I was greeted with a smile, and that's more than I can say about most Indian restaurants I've been to so far in London. Off to a good start. I ordered tap water, and was given a liter bottle of my own..no extra charge (HINT HINT CLIFTON) alongside a kachumber salad and mutter paneer. The kachumber salad was very bitter in the best way possible. It was great as a palate cleanser before the meal, and served almost like a sushi-ginger while you eat. A little pricey for the serving size, but it was all vegetable and no filler. A very solid showing reared it's head as I tasted the mutter paneer. Balanced spice, tasty peas, and fresh paneer were combined well in this dish. I feel like the paneer could have had a bit more "wow" factor, but that didn't stop me from devouring the entire dish with ease. The staff were extremely nice, which made the experience all the better. I asked for Sweet Pan (google that son) and they were out; but offered me a cumin mix and gave me a sweet pan-esque powder to go with it to refresh my tastes. Lovely. Would definitely go back or order for delivery. read more

This is a popular bustling restaurant with a very good menu. We tried the veggie tandoor plate, spinach onion bajji and veggie biryani - all outstanding. However, the personal deal breaker for me was the awful so-called masala chai. It was basically instant chai powder dissolved in hot water. We went there on a Saturday night and it was packed. Would definitely recommend a reservation, and service gets pretty flaky as the crowd increases. read more

It is not that big and dining is fairly close between tables, but the food is very well cooked and presented. Portions focus more on quality than quantity. Nice touches such as complimentary popadoms. I really liked my meal and thought it was good value. The best thing for me was 2 Indian wines on the menu. First time I have ever been able to have an Indian wine with my indian meal. It was quite good too. Staff were friendly, but they were not busy so you need to flag them down if you want to leave. read more

This will be our go to Indian restaurant. While this was our first time dining here, we will be back. The menu contains a varied selection of Indian food as well as set menus. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a variety of chicken dishes and it was difficult to select the best one. The naan was fresh and delicious and the drink selection was good. I would recommend reservations as we visited on a Monday night and it filled up quickly after 7pm. read more

Picked this restaurant because of the Yelp reviews when looking for good food near our hotel. Staff was really accommodating of our party of 10 - they held our reservation when we ran late because of traffic and helped us find the restaurant when we got lost. Can't say enough about how helpful all the staff members were in recommending items, promptly getting the food the table and checking in to see how we were doing. All the dishes we ordered were delicious and decent sized portions to share. read more

Guglee is the type of small Indian restaurant that gives London a reputation for great Indian food. Everything we've had at Guglee has been flavorful and spicy. Meats are perfectly trimmed and cooked, and the curries are all alive with the flavors of fresh herbs and spices. Chicken xacuti is my favorite, but the humbly named cauliflower and peas dish is a standout of flavor. Almost worth a trip to Swiss Cottage for this place! read more

To be honest I originally went to this restaurant only because it is close to the hotel that I stay in while in London. I have been back multiple times because the food and service are consistently very good. There are times when they are busier than others, and of course I have had to wait for my food from time to time, but overall, I think the wait is worth it. read more

As a visitor to London there are so many choices that I had to rely on a recommendation from a local resident. Guglee was an absolute delight, even for a fan of Indian food. I arrived before the dinner rush and the manager, Sumit, was very helpful explaining some of the menu items I'd never seen before, such as the street foods, which are traditionally eaten on the go from vendors who cook them fresh. I chose a variety platter of these bite sized "chaats" - including sev puri chaat, which is a puffed hollow pastry filled with chick peas, mashed potatoes and topped with yogurt and chutneys. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The saag paneer, baby spinach cooked with Indian cottage cheese and spices was quite spicy, but also very good. I was so lucky to find this small gem in the Swiss Cottage area of London. Highly recommend! read more

Excellent Indian food" I was introduced to this retaurant by a friend who was brought up in India who says this restaurant has the most authentic Indian food I have eaten here about 6 times, most recently this weekend.The restaurant is very colourful decor very good with lots of colour, A good range of Indian food is available including meat, fish ,chicken dishes & Thali There is also a wide choice of vegetarian dishes on the menu. On my recent visit my wife and I shared 3 main dishes The lamb curry Indian railway special and Murgh xacuti dish were good it was not just spicy but had lots of flavor My favourite dish was the baigan (aubergine) never had baigan like this before which was very tasty We ate the complimentary pappads and pickles as a starter & staff recommend us to have "sev puri chat" was very refreshing loved it Quality of food was very good and quantity was more than enough. Yum! We went to Guglee for dinner based on the Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. Honestly - the biggest problem was that there were too many choices on the menu (and that they don't deliver to our home.) We had the Aloo Chaat, Tandoori Broccoli, and dosas for starters and the lamb biryani w/ raita and kachumber salad for the main. The broccoli could have been skipped but the rest was great. The kids had the tandoori chicken bites and gulgi handi chicken and enjoyed it as well. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. We'll be back. read more

We found this gem close to our hotel. The food felt like home cooked food, not oily, flavorful and light. Being from the USA, we are Indians used to the cream-heavy food served in Indian restaurants in the US, so this was a great experience. The black dal was really good. The rose kulfi was simply amazing! Do not miss it. The owner was warm and showed great hospitality that one sees only in India, we went two nights in a row. Loved it and will be back! read more
