The recent problem is their recent sales staff product knowledge. Few of them appear to be woodworkers - nor seem interested in learning their product lines. I don't care if their staff are woodworkers - but it is a reasonable expectation for sales people to know their products and inventory. I called them on the phone looking for a Festool Carvex. Festool is one of their main product lines. The sales person on the phone did not even know what a Carvex was, let alone knowing if it was in stock. He asked me what the on line item number was. I am sorry - but if I am going to spend 500 dollars at a brick and mortar and drive a half hour to get it, and pay higher than on line, I at least expect the store to know their products. If I need to do their homework, I can do it myself and buy on line. Finally the sales person went to one guy in the store who had to explain what a Carvex was and he went in the back and said no Carvex in stock. Later I called and asked if they had a Oneway Multi-Gauge in stock - which is on the woodcraft website. Again, the person on the phone had absolutely no idea what a Oneway Multi-Gauge was, nor what it was for, and asked for an item number so she could look it up on line. This is one reason why the smaller Brick and mortar stores are having problems competing with on line sales - and Woodcraft is no exception. People rely too much on Google, and do not spend time learning their store inventory and learning about their products at their own store. It did not used to be that way in retail. When I was in retail sales in the 1980's it was required that every sales person went into the stock room each morning before the doors were open, and memorized what items we had in stock and also know about each and every product we had in the store - and how to use them - and what products can be special ordered. These days however, you have sales clerks who know little about their company and more about punching in an item number into google and they depend on google to provide all the answers. Ultimately, the problem lies with the store manager - who does not seem to be interested in sales training and teaching the store clerks their products, how they are used, what they are for, and if they are in stock. It seems that the manager wants to be the know it all and does not care if his coworkers are up to the task. This is a major reason why brick and mortar shops are closing up shop- not because of the internet, but because their sales staff are getting lazy and depending on the internet for everything, and ignoring the stock room and the product literature - and their own company web site. I predict that Woodcraft within the next five years will be out of business brick and morter wise, and will be solely an internet based store, if they do not do something to make sure every sales person is well trained. Why waste time with Brick and moarter when you can get it shipped to you home within 24 hours? I hate giving negative reviews - sometimes the only way a business can save themselves is for customers to be brutally honest and hope for change.

I dont window shop, I have spent well over $10k in last year at this store. I have seen them treat others rudely as well. I spent $4,000.00 plus on a shaper origin cnc router with all bells and whistles a week before a newer better version was released. Jeff said he would have the woman works for him call the rep to see how to handle swapping it out since it was less than 30 days. what a fiasco that turned into... she doesn't know how to handle herself with anything other than ringing up a simple product. she screwed that whole transaction with shaper origin up and she/Jeff kept blaming shaper tools rep and when I talked to shaper directly the problem was Glenn wing tool. Joe told me about TSO rails on the phone to enhance my Festool track saw but I didn't quite understand and he gave me to jeff to explain it before I drove 45 minutes one way. it was very obvious he was annoyed and kept saying he had customers in the store. well he had two other people in the store helping him. Told me I needed to come to the store to see it and if I still didn't get it then he would show me. like I have nothing better to do than drive 45 minutes one way to find out it's not something I would want. this is about the time where I started getting pissed off at the way I was getting treated by Jeff and the woman that works there. No issues really with Joe. I think the sooner joe takes over for his father the better off Glenn wing will be.... Jeff needs to go if he is too sick, grumpy, old or whatever his issues are. the woman working there messes up the cash register and or sales all the time. She almost overcharged me during the shaper fiasco and Jeff had to fix it and in process deleted my entire account and didn't know how. another occasion she wrang up $1070.00 instead of $107.00. and then returned the $1070.00. 60 days later my accountant showed me credit card charges $1070.00, then $107.00, then $107.00, and finally $1070.00 credit. my accountant believes she charged me twice for the $107 so I told Jeff when I was there and instead of looking at it while I was there said he would look at it later and call me the next day?? really? next no call so my accountant reversed the second $107 charge. couple days later someone emailed me an explanation of what they think happened. not the phone call so I didn't get it for about a week as I do very little in email. Jeff called me like three times in one day after the charge was reversed but I was working and didn't have phone so missed them. when it came to his losing money he wanted me to respond asap but when it was my money.... crickets. FYI this was a case where she charged $107 on one machine and it crashed so she went to the next. they can up with a different receipt from a different time to have American Express recharge my card for the erroneous $107. I don't know if they deliberately modified a receipt to get that charge back or if they are that incompetent with their point of sale system. If that $107 in his pocket is more important than admitting their mistake than they lost me as a customer. Almost every transaction with their cash register seems to be a problem. wether she rings it up wrong, the system locks up, or she gets a message on the screen that she doesn't know what to do with it is alarming how many point of sales issues they have. Jeff doesnt seem to know the system much better from my experience. all I can say is double check the price she charges you as even that has been wrong in past. Check to make sure she doesn't charge you a second time on your statement when the first machine locks up and she goes to the second. for some reason they have two separate point of sales systems and one does more than the other on same counter but one does not know what the other has done. I ordered some TSO knobs which did not come with the centering washers which makes them useless as the centering washers are the wearable item. joe ordered them. I asked the lady about the washers and Jeff had to come to the front. the first words out of his mouth was that he pays the same price I do so he isn't making any money on them. I need to call TSO. Jeff is so busy and rude now I won't be doing further business with him. Between getting charged twice for the same item because one machine went down and she switched to the next and I got charged twice to Jeff's attitude I will be going to March power tools or I will go go to Rockler, so much for trying to help out the mom and pop shops instead of a corporate store. Jeff officially lost my business and I will no longer recommend Glenn Wing power tools.

Being new to the area ,I went to the nearest place I could think of . The owner , Richard Duke , sold me a water heater that was on the sales floor . The price was great , but most of all that water heater lasted me over 18 years . The hardware is now run by Sons Kevin and Brent ,and maybe other family members that I don't know well . True , they don't have some of the things that the big guys have . I,m always satisfied when I visit Dukes . PS If you need an off the wall item , Dukes will likely have it .

I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED SOONER! This place has about everything you might want for your garage and lawn. A huge selection of Bosch, Stihl, Dewalt, Milwaukee and other tools. Thousands of bits and blades. But back to my issue... they had some trouble finding my carb since the trimmer was almost 20 years old. But the super helpful guys called to their Brighton store and were able to track down the part number history from a manual there. And I was in luck... they even had the carb in stock! While there I picked up a handful of other items I've been needing. I think I could have spent a few hours in there checking everything out. If you are a woodworker, landscaper (your own yard or professional), contractor, mason, etc then you definitely need to check out this place!
