With the recent increases in rent (fun fact: Sacramento has the third-highest rent increase in the U.S.) paired with soaring home prices, my wife and I were stuck in a tough position. With the possibility of another recession approaching in the upcoming years, we could continue to rent and pray that home prices eventually decline. Leading up to our initial appointment with Shannon, Shannon sent us an email detailing all of the items that we would need for our pre-approval. When we arrived at the VITEK office, Shannon immediately welcomed us into her office. Before diving into the home loan process, Shannon inquired about the areas that we would prefer to live in, and our ideal mortgage payment. Next, she patiently walked us through the home loan process from beginning to end. After hearing the process and having all of our questions answered, we decided to move forward with the pre-approval. Once we received approval, Shannon began explaining the various loan options that we could opt for. She patiently played the "fun" numbers game that would eventually assist us in determining our monthly mortgage payment (home amount, down payment, loan longevity, interest rate). Shannon would eventually arrive at numbers that satisfied my wife and I. That evening we left Shannon's office confident that we would find a home that we could comfortably (keyword) afford. Once our amazing Realtor was able to assist us in finding our home, the loan process kicked into overdrive. From beginning to end, Shannon did a great job of communicating every intricate detail of the loan process (there were no "surprises" at the end of the process). Although we did not physically see Shannon until we had to meet in person for the loan signing, Shannon kept in touch with us via email and quickly responded to any questions that we had. I had the good fortune of stumbling onto Marlena and the Vitek Mortgage Group while looking for a home. I sent an email into the Vitek website inquiring about getting pre-qualified for a loan and I must have received a call back from Marlena within milliseconds. Needless to say, I was impressed with her responsiveness. Because my wife and I both had busy schedules with work and managing our our two kids, Marlena and her team set up a conference call with us to go over all the information required for getting pre-qualified. The information required was pretty staggering but Marlena and her team certainly made it as painless as possible providing the technology needed for me to easily update documents at all hours of the night enabling minimal impact to our busy lives. Fast forward to my family and I finally finding a new home. We ended up finding a quick move in home in one of these new Toll Brothers communities that provides their own financing as well as substantial incentives to go with their lenders. We were able to negotiate a price under list (unheard of these days) if we were able to close on the property within 2-months. The cash incentives Toll Brothers offered to go with their lender could be used towards the closing costs of the loan and it was certainly enticing. My wife and I discussed this and even with this incentive, we both felt that the work Marlena and her team had already invested in our loan as well as our overall gut feelings, told us to stay with Vitek so this is what we decided to do, and thank God we did. Our experience with the Toll Brothers over the next month made it very clear that we made the right decision deciding to work with Marlena and Vitek mortgage. For a company that seemed keen on closing on a property quickly, Toll Brothers seemed to be intent on impeding on this process around every corner. Toll Brothers sales were slow to respond, missed key in-person meetings, incompetent in delivering the required documents. Marlena and her team were absolute bulldogs when it came to staying on top of the right people and ensuring they delivered what was requested. We ended up closing in just over 30 days and this wouldn't have been possible without Marlena and her team. I have to agree with everything the previous review stated. I was forced to apply to this so called bank because the seller's real estate agent required it. The seller's agent claimed that my prequailified home loan letters from Wells Fargo Bank and USAA Bank were suspect. I have owned two homes previously and have never missed a house payment. I lost out on the house because this bank. They wanted twice the documentation than Wells Fargo and USAA Bank required for their prequal letter. They even asked for docuemntation that I have never had to provide for home loans or bsuiness loans. They do not know how to respond to emails or return phone calls. There is something wrong when you have to get pre approved by the seller's bank of choice to buy a house. There has to be some kind of benifit for the selling agent when they demand that people use this bank. If you read Vitek's ONLY 5 star review, its from a real estate agent, not even a customer. It's total hype. Her review is the kind of review tht Yelp should not allow. read more

Customer service is not the best. We had an appointment to speak to Luke around 9:30. Luke never called, when I called I was told he was busy and our appointment was moved " he will give you a call soon" I was told but soon must mean never at Vitelli because that was when I spoke to mr.luke. So they connected me to Eric, a kind man, but unfortunately also a disappointment. I'm guessing if you approach Vitek with a low score and needing work, they shun you off like a walking dead zombie. I wonder if FHA and rural development is aware of the way the grossly mistreat the low income.No way I would have paid $1,435 for someone pretending to work on my file. I don't recommend this place if you are looking to utilize an FHA, rural usda nor a VA loan. read more

Here's the rest of the story: I went over Alan Wackman's head to the Vice President of the company and at least got a man willing to listen. But that was essentially it. No admission of wrong-doing. No apology. Only a vague assurance that they would "support" my appeal to the county assessor's office.
