Evelyne Jamet was our loan officer at Vitek and she was fantastic to work with. We were first time homebuyers and after shopping various lenders including our credit unions and the usual banking institutions, we ultimately decided to go with Vitek because they had the best mortgage options and they discount their fees for state employees through their CalPERM program (1/2 off the flat-rate admin fee and reimbursement for the appraisal and credit report fee). They also didn't have any hidden fees, and they didn't charge us to lock our interest rate. From our research, their interest rates were just a hair higher than the best interest rates at the credit unions (roughly 1/8 of a percent), but they offered loan products the credit unions did not have and that we honestly didn't think even existed anymore, including conventional loans with low down payments or loans with options for credits back for closing costs. We ended up getting a conventional loan with 3% down and still a low interest rate, which after number-crunching was better for us than the FHA loan our credit union offered because there was no upfront PMI charge, the monthly PMI was cheaper, and we didn't have to deal with the hassles/delays people complained about with FHA loans. The service Evelyne provided was wonderful. She presented a variety of loan options and took the time to explain each one with preliminary estimates so we could see and understand the numbers. Throughout the process she was always informative and communicative with us so we felt like we knew what was happening with our loan. She was also in constant communication with our agent, so she understood our contingency timelines, etc. and so he always knew where we were at in the loan process. We felt that Evelyne and the others at Vitek treated our mortgage with a sense of urgency so we trusted them to get our loan completed and funded before the close of escrow (which it did). The step-by-step movement of our loan through the process and the consistent communication reassured us our loan wasn't just sitting on a desk somewhere. I'd like to write a review of my recent experience with Vitek Mortgage (specifically the one on "3 Park Center Drive" in Sacramento), and also add my two cents in response to the other reviewer on this page by Ron B. who gave the 1 star rating. I admit that though I don't know what happened exactly to this person and of course it's very unfortunate that this person had a bad experience, but although everyone is entitled to their own opinion(s), I personally don't mind all the paperwork and docs...it could just be they are more thorough than most other places, and I would rather work with a place that's more thorough than not. In any place/department/agency, there's always going to be individuals that are better in communication than others (afterall, everyone has different communication skills & styles), but I wouldn't condem the whole group as a whole just because I get one bad egg, and if I did get one, I suggest just to move on to another person who can better help you. Fortunately, my experience with my loan officer was a very good one. So it goes to show, not everyone is the same. Furthermore, whether it is a selling agent or a customer, I think everyone is entitled to share and post reviews of their experiences here. WIth that said, my fiancee and I had just purchased our first home and Victoria Huynh & Jaimey Lai from Vitek Mortgage has really truly helped us a lot in making this a very smooth transaction. They are excellent in communication which is always a key. So my recommendation is that if you do go through Vitek Mortgage, I highly suggest you go through Victoria Huynh and Jaimey Lai--to you both, my fiancee and I would like to say to you this: We would like to give our warmest THANKS for all of your hard work and outstanding customer service. They miscalculated the amount of the loan and, after all the paperwork was signed with the notary and the money wired to the title company, they asked for more money! Long story short. Great customer service. Requires you to input your entire social security number into its website to make a payment. So, vulnerable to ID theft. Vitek Mortgage did several of my loans without any hiccups or speed bumps. Can't say I got the best deal, but I believe I got a fair deal. So, there's that. Be forewarned that if you use Vitek's website to make payments, you'll be putting your personal data in jeopardy. Vitek just recently updated its website for online payments. If you have more than one loan with Vitek you'll need to set-up individual online accounts for each loan just to make payments. So, it's convenient for Vitek, but very inconvenient for its customers. Just shows you just how concerned Vitek is with its customers once it sells you a loan. Then, you have to provide your entire social security number to log in. Equifax, after the security breach, needs only six digits of your ssn to determine if you've been affected. Wells Fargo never asks for your ssn on its website. Vitek then requires six, count 'em six!, personal questions to prove you are you. In this day and age of hacking and identity theft, you'd think Vitek would have better than willy nilly security on its website. You're better off just paying using the paper statements. read more

Worst mortgage company ever. I will not give any names due to everyone is entitled to their privacy but I had the worst experience with this company. I was forced to go with them because of the seller of the home I purchased. Every time I would call the Sales Manager for a question he would not answer nor did he ever return my calls. Even when I emailed him he would answer the email within a few days but never did he answer my question(s). He would just briefly go over what I asked and then just ask for more documents. I understand taking a loan out for a house requires many documents and takes time but this sales manager never once asked if I had any questions, comments or concerns. I'm not sure if this was because he knew I had no other choice for a lender or if that's just they way this company works. The sales manager also only gave me an few hours notice before signing the title documents. All he asked was if I was free in the evening and then the next thing I know I get a call from the escrow officer confirming our appointment in a few hours and I could not reschedule due to the loan had to close before Monday (which later I found out was because if it closed a day after Monday the sales manager would be taking a loss). The only reason why I am giving this company one star is because of the sales managers assistant. She was very helpful and also answered my calls/emails within a reasonable amount of time. Not sure if all VITEK offices are like this one but I would stay away from this one. read more
